The fact that some of you would entertain trading Charlie Mac, or Lindholm for Trevor effing Zegras scares the ever loving sh*t out of me. - ProvBrewin

Guess there was one (Glove) that was ok with Lindholm for Zegras.
Zegras' last two seasons were better than any current Bruins C, but I don't know much about him so can't really comment on the balance of that proposal. - Nasty_Duck
Yes I am in favor of it. You trade a soft #2 D for a soft #1C but at least you have a #1C who is supremely talented.
As we know drafting talent unless it is so blindingly obvious (McAvoy) seems to elude Sweeney on a Bellichickian level. Stop reaching and draft the (frank)ing talent Don.
EDIT: That is in like 30 years when the B's have 1st round picks again. |

Draft day Don would rather take the gamble on projects. He is 5 season's ahead in his Be a GM mode, so he knows who develops and who doesnt. - dothedougie

I mean worth it trying to make this run with the guys brought in over last couple
seasons but dammit it didn't work.

It rarely works for the Bruins.
See Jagr, Iginla, etc. They keep trading away those picks and it never pays off.
Closest was Kaberle, but really, they were prob winning the Cup that year even without him.

If he can meet or exceed last years production, I would say yes. All depends on more development for me. Not sure if last year was his ceiling or not. |

If it weren't for the cap hand cuffs this year I don't think it would be much of an argument. I think he has potential to be improve off of last year. He actually showed a bit of speed that i didn't know existed. Bigger role, i think he will have a good year.
Tanner Jeannot just got 2.6 AAV having a far crappier year than Frederic.

Great points by you and Dougie. Wasn't really sure what to think on this especially given the cap crunch.
EDIT: Yeah I guess if that's what Jeannot got then that's the market. Like Dougie mentioned looks like they've settled. If he plays well again could be a bargain. |

Since its settled now, Ill take 2 more years at 2.3m to see if he can improve or remain the same. If he can hit 30 points consistently that is fine.
My base barometer is about 100k per point. If you're paying more than that they better bring a unique factor to the lineup. (like pasta hitting 60 goals or Bergy's all around game). |

1 year, 3.475m award for Swayman in arbitration.
EDIT: I think that puts the bruins about 300k over the cap. |

I was actually going to say 150k per win plus nuances like shutouts and number of starts. For me Swayman's contract is just about right. I expect if he can post a similar season his next contract will eclipse 4.5m or more. |

Following up, capfriendly has them just under the cap. I can do numbers gud.

Hard to believe Bruins are only middle of the pack wrt Cap hit.
Fair number of teams have some massaging to do.
And... at least this kills any rumors of silly trades like picking up Couturier.

Truth. Right now Elias Lindholm is about the only center that makes sense in any kind of trade (if one happens at all). Even then, both teams have to do some cap gymnastics, likely with a third team to make it work.
My guess is this is how the roster is going to be to start the year.

Lindholm or Scheifele. But yeah, it will be a tradeoff. Parts of the fanbase will most likely not enjoy the cost. You have McAvoy, Lindholm, Swayman, Ullmark and Pasta. A younger 1C with term is the missing core piece. To me it's Ullmark and everyone else should be up for negotiation.

If a trade for a center happens, I think its more likely to happen closer to the TDL. Cap gymnastics will be easier then. Expecting a Hampus Lindholm style trade where they give up the assets and immediately extend. Well at least that is the hope.
Otherwise its probably just riding out the year and hoping someone is available during free agency. |

I would include JT Miller in that mix. He's been in the rumor mill but I don't know how likely that is. Scheifele is a very distant third for me. He scored goals last year but I think his game is fading. If he didn't have Kyle Connor and Ehlers he would be a 40 point player. I don't think they trade him until the deadline if they are out of it. Any real assets and I'm out.
I watch the Jets a lot and he is always complaining in game. Feel like he is a big reason that team keeps under performing. Refs already dislike Marchand, we don't need to add Scheifele.

Miller would be a decent add in the short term. I wonder however if the back half of his contract is going to age well. Would definitely be a decent add right now, but would prefer they went just a bit younger.
Of course, this all depends on what the price tag is. |
