There has not been much detail on Roos on his Blackhawk career. Right now is a golden opportunity to move onto and retain a spot on the blueline BEFORE some young prospects gain a year of development and become a more serious candidate for a spot on the roster
I would especially like to see beat reporters inquire about Roos and see Richardson's response.
And as for another prospect, Crevier looked good in the tournament, at least in the victory over St Louis which is the one game I saw |

Like everyone I am hoping it is another top forward; the TB first rounder can be the BPA. |

I think the idea of The Nine exists (or existed)...until Roos & Crevier in the preseason show they deserve spots or not.
The coaching staff isn't gonna dog their prospects, say "It's time to go home, Roos" to teh writers in the same they they are not going to say unflattering things about Korchinski.
Roos is going to get his chance to show growth, or stagnation, and they probably will a good enough evaluation on him as camp ends, with him earning a job, or not.
It won't be long as the campo ends in 14 days. |

Former Hawk Colin Delia managed a pretty good performance last night. 2-1 shootout win vs Edmonton. I don't think the Oilers dressed their two big guns, but the highlights were a lot of close calls and scrambles by Delia to keep it tied to the shootout. |

Vancouver got smoked 10-0 by Calgary. The Flames dressed most of their NHL talent, the Canucks clearly did not.

Obviosly split squad games. VAN sent the scrubs to CGY and got routed, while the A-team stayed at home and beat EDM.
If Hawks follow suit look for Bedard and the top players to play the home pre-season games.

Yeah that was a beating. Hawks Legend Jordan Oesterle opened the scoring for Calgary in that one. 10-0 and the shots were 26 to 26. |

It was Winnipeg that beat Edmonton. Delia isn't a Canuck anymore. |

Team Bedard beats Team Reichel 3-2 in a two period scrimmage. Bedard and Reichel with 2 goals each. Entwistle gets the other goal.
Summary and a few highlights here.

Reichel with a really nice move there to score. Just a scrimmage but he is showing confidence with that kind of play. I think the other thing we'll see all year, give the puck to Bedard anywhere below the hashmarks and he has a good chance of scoring a goal. |

It looked to me that Reichel was playing more relaxed and confident last season after Kane got traded. Prior to that it looked like he was cautious and trying not to make a mistake.

Question for you guys. What is going to be my best choice to subscribe and watch the Hawks from Canada this season? I'm pretty sure I'll have two choices Sportsnet+ Premium or NHL Center Ice? I haven't subscribed to a service for a few years but don't know which one is better for out of market games. |

Thanks, BM. I do like this Tab Bamford writer. ...... Click the link, it's worth your while. A copy and paste of some of it. Agree with his thoughts on Korchinski.... I do think going by the drafts and this last prospect camp is that the Hawk's identity/signature will be speed and we'll see that go up a level each yr for 5-6 yrs until the thing is complete and it's full win mode.
Speed is the hallmark of the AA-Reichel-Kurashev line and that showed well, but I was happy to see Reichel being more selfish with the puck. His two goals were both pretty (see one of them below) and he will do a lot of damage this season if he shoots more often. He did that this morning.
Kevin Korchinski had a couple learning moments and spent some time on the ice with the coaches after the scrimmage ended talking about taking away angles and controlling space better. He’s going to have a learning curve against NHL players. How quickly/well he applies what he learns in these situations will go a long way in determining his staying power in the league for this season.
Wyatt Kaiser looked like a comfortable veteran with Seth Jones. Even when they were split up for a few shifts and Kaiser was with a similarly inexperienced player, he was noticeably loud communicating and did a nice job of controlling the play.
I thought Ethan Del Mastro had a nice scrimmage. There were a few times that he moved the puck effectively and skated with it. In a scrimmage against teammates in which he wasn’t supposed to truck anyone, he was physical enough to make his presence known. |

You know what Reichel looks like to me? A properly developed 21 yr old player. That is why he looks confident. He was drafted, played pro in Germany the following yr, as he did his draft yr, played in those playoffs and played WJC.
Off to the USA the following yr. 11 games with the Hawks and a full season with RKF including a rd of the playoffs. He also played for GER in the WC. The next yr, which was last yr and his draft yr +3, same thing. Some games with the Hawks and a full season with a rd of playoffs at RKF.
And here we are, kid is 21 with 3 full yrs of development.. A nice unhurried and reasonable path/pace at the proper age appropriate levels and it's showing in a confident talented kid. ..... Agree 100% with you, Rooter. Kid showed his best at the NHL level at the end of the season when Kane was gone and with the benefit of 3 full yrs of development.
IMO Reichel was the first test of KD's developmental model and he passed. Very interested to see what the NHL roster looks like when they break camp.

Good write up and I fully agree on KDs developmental model - lets hope everyone but Bedard follows at least some form of that model - KK fans - ya listening?

Don't know how accurate this link is, but according to it CenterIce not available in Canada. Sportsnet may be the way to go.

Yea. For those saying Korchinski can't learn anything with another year in juniors, I believe many of us said the same thing about Kirby Dach.
We'll see how it goes but, a look see in the NHL for 8 games and then back to jrs. just may be the best thing for him.

I don't want to cast a spell but the guy set at 2024 draft slot one can play all three forward positions but is probably a centre...and is more of set-up man than goal scorer. |

Dach came to the NHL straight from his draft, Korchinski is one full year removed. Dach joined a team that still considered itself competitive, with big expectations and a fluke playoff appearance. Dach got hit at a rate much higher than nearly every forward in the league, a good portion of which was his own fault.
Korchinski joins a team with zero expectations of making the playoffs, with every win beyond last season’s total considered found money. He also dominated his WHL much more than Dach did. I’m all for being patient with prospects, but I also think it’s rather easy to crack a D group featuring this cast of well below average players. I would like him to be coached by Richardson and Kevin Dean. |
