Question for you guys. What is going to be my best choice to subscribe and watch the Hawks from Canada this season? I'm pretty sure I'll have two choices Sportsnet+ Premium or NHL Center Ice? I haven't subscribed to a service for a few years but don't know which one is better for out of market games. - breadbag
I used Sportsnet last year and it was fine. I didn't think Center Ice was a thing in Canada anymore |

Don't know how accurate this link is, but according to it CenterIce not available in Canada. Sportsnet may be the way to go.

Makes sense. I guess you guys steered me in the right direction. Thanks! |

Dach came to the NHL straight from his draft, Korchinski is one full year removed. Dach joined a team that still considered itself competitive, with big expectations and a fluke playoff appearance. Dach got hit at a rate much higher than nearly every forward in the league, a good portion of which was his own fault.
Korchinski joins a team with zero expectations of making the playoffs, with every win beyond last season’s total considered found money. He also dominated his WHL much more than Dach did. I’m all for being patient with prospects, but I also think it’s rather easy to crack a D group featuring this cast of well below average players. I would like him to be coached by Richardson and Kevin Dean. - ObeseOprah
That was that Bedard kid.

A current St Louis Blues player, B Saad, was a MAN child, a steal in round two
There was divergent opinion on this board whether he was ready and should stay in the NHL or go back to the farm club (Rockford)
I know that Steve Rain has said in the past, a prospect is a prospect is still.a prospect..
until he isn't.
Well perhaps Korchinski is going to benefit by trying to focus more upon defensive coverage no matter where he plays. Perhaps too the unique opportunity to develop playing in various levels is in the cards for this season.
Isn't it a lot about KK gets instruction and improves after his performance is subpar - some gaffes - at the NHL level for the first part of season. The WJC beckons then where does he skate next? If he has ten NHL gp would he be shuffled back and forth to Rockford after the WJC.
I mean is the instruction he receives going to be from.? And where .....in Junior, AHL, NHL
Probability less to return to junior but also could Blackhawks employ their former dman, Campbell, to personally review/instruct KK when KK is playing home games in Rockford
It does seem KK will be doing frequent flying miles or driving back and forth to Rockford often
Is Campbell still drawing a salary from Rocky although he is doing other things now (announcing) |

KD said they need to see how KK handles going up against full sized NHL Forwards. I think that's the main criteria where he plays next year. |

Yea. For those saying Korchinski can't learn anything with another year in juniors, I believe many of us said the same thing about Kirby Dach.
We'll see how it goes but, a look see in the NHL for 8 games and then back to jrs. just may be the best thing for him. - Rota's Rooter
He could learn at AHL, nothing left in jrs for him. Maybe hes not as good as all of you say. |

Well, he can’t play in the AHL this year. So, if he’s not ready for the NHL after his trial this preseason, he’ll have to go back and find a way to learn.
I’m all for letting the kid tell you he’s ready by how he plays. If he can’t cut it, he can take all the feedback he’s received and apply it in juniors. To say there is nothing left for him is an overstatement I think. |

Not sure its all of the folks here as it is KD and LR going off the press conferences the last few weeks.
For the record though, I'm definitely in the send him back to jrs camp. Hard to believe there is nothing he can learn. At a minimum, we know from his last year, he can get bigger, stronger, faster, learn how to close gaps a little better.
Reichel seems a good advertisement for proper bringing along of a prospect. |

Former Hawk Colin Delia managed a pretty good performance last night. 2-1 shootout win vs Edmonton. I don't think the Oilers dressed their two big guns, but the highlights were a lot of close calls and scrambles by Delia to keep it tied to the shootout. - breadbag
Thank god Stan isn’t around, he’d have brought him back. |

And a big chunk of that Junior time will be representing Canada at World Junior. |

What I am hoping for is Kaiser/Vlasic/Phillips/Roos show they are NHL ready, then it makes the decision to send KK back to juniors a no-brainer.

This. I hope to see three of Kaiser/Vlasic/Phillips/Roos break camp with the team. Hopefully all of them get regular ice time playing along side Jones, Murphy, Zaitsev/Tinordi. They could very well play a few consecutive games and then alternate sitting a game or two to watch and learn from the press box. The 4th player of the above will be the first injury call up or brought up if he has earned his shot by playing well in Rockford. If the plan works out, most will get about 65 games in this season. |

100% boiler. I also believe that the defense will be better than last year. While many here are high on Kaiser, I’m a Vlasic fan, and those two along with either Phillips or Roos will be better than last years cast on the left side. They will make rookie mistakes, but hopefully they learn from them unlike C Jones, who would make the same mistakes over and over again. |

If Kane and Toews weren't around I think Reichel would have been in the NHL much sooner. It seems like they wanted the player to be the best player on the team without deferring to anyone else.
He got his time in the NHL when Kane was injured or gone. I don't think that was coincidence.
The same goes for Bedard. They want it to be Bedard's team and that wouldn't be possible with those other guys around.
Other than Jones, there isn't anyone on the blue line blocking or being an impediment.
Playing against lesser competition where nights can be taken off or bad habits can form isn't a great thing. The problem with K2 is that he is so much more gifted physically than a lot of his competition - how many of those guys in the WHL are really going to challenge him to learn better gap control or positioning? Unless he's a psychopath like Bedard, human nature is going to take the path of least resistance regardless of whatever intentions are there.
Good players need to be pushed. At a minimum K2 should get enough exposure to either do good enough to stay or send a very clear message on what needs to be improved. If they send him down he needs to be sufficiently traumatized to maintain focus in the kids league for most of the year at least.
To just send him back without getting ridden into the boards a few times or absolutely torched by some of the leagues better players is about as silly as having him play every 5 games as a 7th defender.
They start the season with a pretty rough schedule and it should be fairly obvious if he can handle it reasonably well the first 10 games. |

Never said not to play him some, I really wouldn't mind him not going back to WHL until after World Jrs.
Just don't see the need to rush him, you have enough young guys coming up.

I agree, personally if they don't think he's ready to hang in the big leagues i sure hope they don't burn a year on his ELC
