Like Garth Snow.

When I heard Oksposo say Garth got the GM job because he was good at fantasy hockey on the team bus, I almost couldn’t believe it. It’s so outrageous I didn’t want to believe it to be fact.

I watched half of the first and the majority of the second periods. I didn't think Holmstrom looked that good - at least not much different than last year. I'd like to so Gauthier get a shot with 13&14. The guy can fly, has size and a solid shot.

Edit: FWIW I just found this Gauthier article. Kinda mentions what I saw last night...

Well this is exactly what I was talking about when I mentioned “staying reasonably healthy” as an important key to our success this season.

Palmieri was actually one of the players I was referring too. Guy can’t seem to stay in the lineup long enough to be impactful.

Palmieri must have rolled his ankle while carrying all that extra weight from his body hair

I did not see the game, but a goal and an assist sound good to me. Holmstrom has more upside than Gauthier I have to think.

They’re both first round picks in the early 20’s, a few years apart. I hope they both turn out to be solid nhl’ers but from the little I’ve seen of Gauthier I like him better. Obviously Gauthier hasn’t sold his game yet, otherwise we wouldn’t have gotten him. But maybe we get lucky and he finally figures it out.

That gives isles some cap space if they place him on LTIR

I guess with that gorilla it could be upper or a lower body injury.

It's not funny and funny at the same time. The Islanders and Yankees are the same team with these vets getting hurt every year.

Hopefully it’s something he quickly recovers from but we’ve all seen enough of these day to day injuries to know how that turns out.

Possible positive- some kid gets an opportunity and shines. We’re due for one of those.

Hopefully he does, but you just cannot count on it. This is the downside of vets and the injuries.

Wonder if Staple is going to pull double duty covering the Isles/Rangers now that Kurz is gone

This looks like it could be pretty close to a lineup they start the year with, save for a few obvious things.

Isles drilling the power play for the first time (that we've seen) in camp. Looks like:
Dobson
Barzal-Horvat-Nelson
Fasching

Will be nice to see what Holmstrom, Fasching, and Gauthier can do. I hope they take advantage of this shot.
