(Seriously tho, it's the Flyers... Michkov will probably bust out one way or another. Maybe it's better for him to stay in Russia lol. Stay far away from this mess.)

Not directed at you- just a general observation of these boards.
1. Rooting for team to be a mess, so that we can draft high end prospects.
2. Once the team has drafted these highly touted prospects, rooting for them to stay away from this mess

Touche.

However, if you put Michkov on this team right now, with Torts, quagmire hockey and the organizational focus on being "harder to play against"... he's not gonna make a dent in this thing by himself... if his development even survives the process.

The 21st Century has yet to dawn on this franchise.

Yeah, don't come here for consistency of thought or rational discussion. Come here for Jerry Springer style arguments that are tenuously attached to hockey. It's pure reality show entertainment. (Other than Bill's blog, that is.)

sounds like Atkinson is practicing today. Still no York. Did Torts kill him?

He is day to day according to Torts. Probably a good strategy to get through a Torts preseason ala George Costanza. Being there only hurts your chances.

The problem seems to be that this organization still thinks "harder to play against" means getting hits and physically beating you. When what it really should mean is being so talented the other team cant compete against you.

Great talent is the hardest thing to play against. Yeah yeah, they still need to work hard, but I would rather have hard working talent over hard working plugs.

being "hard to play against" is just a way of saying "we don't have talent to score, we aren't going to win games but we aren't going to let teams roll over us each night"

not sure why everyone is so hung up on this phrasing. I have no problem losing games but also not looking like a complete dumpster fire while we do it.

There is no honor in losing, whether you get rolled over or not.

People would rather watch a dumpster fire that leads to a McDavid, Crosby or Bedard than watching some team honorably lose their way to Cutter Gauthier.

Otherwise he will be no better than Sanheim. That is absolutely hysterical. So funny.
-MJL

Well, Sanheim often joins the rush, gets scoring chances and cannot convert them. Am I lying?

this is the schitt they are selling. Block shot, hard work, physical and all the other buzzwords. Same crap for how many years now? Culture as well.

Cant wait to see how long it takes for the players to quit on the coach if they get off to a horrible start.

you're equating being harder to play against with automatically winning more games and getting a worse pick. you can lose 82 games of the year and not lose games 10-0.

I hope we lose games and I hope we don't take a single shift off while doing it.

I was less concerned about a possible career injury and more concerned with Torts having one less cheerleader. Marc Staal just isn’t enough.

I wouldn't say you're lying. I would say you don't have a clue about what you're talking about. I would be ecstatic if Attard wound up as good as Sanheim.

I know losing might build to a better tomorrow but my brain isn’t wired this way. I have a hard time watching them lose. It pretty much puts me in a mood until they win again. I’m expecting a couple shots to be taken any minute now.

If Attard turns into Sanheim then they flyers did well.

They will not live with the mistakes Attard will end up making. Instead of playing to his strengths they will just keep him in LHV. Let him learn on the 3rd pair with a vet. This is what a rebuilding team is supposed to do no?

- hello it's me 2050

I agree with you about Attard getting a chance to play. The Flyers seem to be big on veteran players to show the younger players how to be pros. However how many veteran players do you need to do this? Couts and possibly Atkinson are back this season so that is 2 right there. The Flyers also have Laughton, Seeler and Deslauriers, and just added Hathaway. They also brought in Walker and Staal. That is 8 roster spots be taken by veterans players, at least 7 of whom will not be part of this team if and when they are ever good again. Never mind you got TK, Sanheim and Risto also. The Flyers IMO have too many late 20s to mid 30's players on a rebuilding team, to a point where there is really no chance for younger players to make this roster. For instance either Allison or Laczynski will have to sit just to get Foerster in the lineup. It doesn't make sense to me, how can a team be rebuilding when its younger players have no chance to make the lineup? My only hope is Briere has a plan to unload a bunch of these players at this year's deadline to accumulate more younger assets and draft capital, otherwise I don't understand it.

Oh I believe you would be ecstatic. As for me, I would like Attard to develop into a good NHL defenseman.

because they are not rebuilding despite what they spew. The co-gm/coach wants his vets. Needs his vets. Has no interest or patience to live with growing pains if they were truly rebuilding.

All you will get for this slop is mid rd picks at best. The players with real value will not be moved unless they ask. Mind boggling to me a guy like TK would not ask out.

I don’t even know how a team can intentionally lose games and properly develop young players in the process.
