KK will be interesting to see, but I still think he gets at least 9 games.

Soderblom is already on the team. I’m sure Vlasic is as well, but we’ll have to wait to be sure. I have this suspicion that Kaiser will be sent back down. It would be odd considering he’s been with Jones the entire time, but he’s had some notable mistakes and they sent Vlasic down for a whole year after showing well in his first 15 games.

I think you can stick a fork in Roos jhawk. I doubt he has much of a chance. I like Phillips. He seems to be really steady when he plays. We’ll see I guess.

The vets, Jones, Tinordi, Murphy and possibly Zaitsev have three or four spots. Not sure if Zaitsev can be sent to Rockford? Vlasic, Kaiser and Phillips should be locks. From what I’ve seen so far in the preseason Del Mastro is ahead of Allan and KK because he plays a safe risk free game. But I think it’s best for those three to go to Rockford and junior to get lots of minutes.

Zaitsev can be put on waivers and if cleared (i wish someone else would pick him up) can be sent to Rockford, but the difference between the minimum salary and his contract amount still stays on the books if he is sent down.

I will be amazed if Zaitsev dresses for most games. I can see them
Giving him time if there are injuries, or if Timordi needs a breather, but I don’t think they will have any issues having him sit. From what I’ve seen (which is admittedly limited) I think Allan plays a stronger game than del Mastro at the moment, but again, I haven’t been able to watch full games.

My only thing with Korchinski is that I think they want him to get at least a taste of what full tilt NHL games are like. I also think they realize he is not going to be a defensive specialist. If he shows that he is “adequate” defensively and still generates like he does from the back end, I would guess the coaches call that a win.

Of the three guys you mentioned, I think Kaiser has the best skating. Vlasic seems to see the ice the best, and Phillips may be a bit more aggressive than the other two. That said, they all seem to play a very similar type of game. That’s another reason I think they may defer to KK and at least give him some time to see what he can do.

While I think it’s in KK’s best interest to go back to junior to work on the weaker points of his game, I’d be intrigued to see he can bring his strong offensive game and to see if there is, or if he can develop a chemistry with Bedard.

Well, that would give us one defenseman on the roster who could. I’m really hoping Jones starts to settle down with a more reliable partner. I think if he doesn’t try to do too much he’s actually a very good D-man. It’s like he’s trying to play up to his contract.

The Detroit hockeybuzz column breaks down the entirety of last night's loss

The review is worthwhile read

Detroit has top young draft choices they are not going to rush
.
That is probably how KD will treat his kiddie brigade for the most part

After Bedard and most likely Kaiser, probably Soderstrom and Vlasic stick from opening night.

While there has been much conjecture about KK playing at the NHL level, why not give either Phillios or Roos a real good opportunity.

They might be next in line, nit Allen or KK
Will just have to see who gets in lineup andvifvthey impress Richardson.

That may be so but he still played better than Zaitsev.

#Blackhawks assign Gavin Hayes and Paul Ludwinski to their OHL clubs

Ryder Rolston, Louis Crevier, Filip Roos, Ethan Del Mastro, and Drew Commesso have been assigned to the #IceHogs.

Hawks are down to 7 defenseman plus KK

KK, S. Jones, Kaiser, Phillips, Vlasic, Zaitsev, Murphy. Tinordi Pending any transaction KD makes, 3 more exhibition games to make a decision on KK, and go with 8 defenseman at the start of the season.

My wishes for the remainder of the preseason games and into the season

Please no more no look passes in your own zone

Reichel stop playing faster than you can

All forwards stop trying to beat 3-4 defenders by yourself.

Defenders if you don't have a play eat the puck instead of passing it along the boards to the opponent by the blue line.

Unfortunately in the new NHL, that is now considered a delay of game penalty.

I tell you on the flip side i really like Bedards compete. Kid does it all, offense defense goes to the front of the net, he's really going to try to carry this team on his shoulders this season. Got a taste of being held a lot last night.

He will learn very fast that this isn't jr's or the WJC, or Biosteel camp, and can't consistently beat 3 guys all by himself.

If this was the most likely possibility for him, I'm surprised he wasn't bought out this summer.

Why spread his buyout over 2 seasons? His contract is up this year, they have plenty of cap space.

The Kaiser Jones pair has looked good. Give KK a D partner that isn’t an anchor like Murphy or Zaitsev to see if his puck carrying is worth the weakness in his own zone. Zaitsev looked rough last night, hope he likes the food in the press box.

Team got exposed last night without any grinders. You need the Hall, Perry, Folignos of the world to dig pucks out and win 50/50 battles. I’m thrilled we’ve moved on the from Caleb Jones and Khaira, although there’s still some stone hands player in the bottom six that look half drunk when the puck is on their stick.

The other argument in favor of keeping him would be further ensuring staying above the floor this season, I suppose. I guess if they thought there were enough NHL ready defensemen in their system, a buyout becomes more likely. They bought out Bailey, and I would think it was easier because there are more NHL ready forwards in the system.

It may just be me but it sure seems what I've seen from this year's crop of rookies they seem to have more stick skill than last year's group so far.

Stick skill and speed. Kantserov, Bedard, Moore and Lardis are all incredibly fast and all are skilled.

Very true but for now KK is far from being consistent. Roos doesn't look to good to me but Philips i give him a go and see if he can carve out some consistent good minutes. I think stability on the back end will go much further than what KK will bring right now. I hope I'm wrong but to me give him his 8 day beating so he can go back to Seattle with his tail between his legs knowing what he's got to work on.

I think last years group has some speed as well but the skill difference seems to stand out to me.
