Obviously players play to win. Managers set the lineups though and at this stage for Toronto, winning isn’t the objective. Resting players, getting pitching set up is what matters.
Besides, we’re just talking about different scenarios and which one seems most promising - Canada Cup
Ya man I agree about the lineup thing and not overly concerned with win/lose at this stage for the Jays.
I was speaking to his comment about avoiding resistance (paraphrase) and Tue better chance at winning thanks thing. Just pointing out that an athlete understands that you need to beat good teams to win a championship and it doesn’t matter who you play - your preparation focus mindset as an athlete doesn’t change. Also, sometimes playing against stronger competition early on gets you into the fight earlier and that’s better.
The scenario thing I get - as fans of course it’s fun to look at that stuff man. |

Of course
Athletes have control over their destiny no matter what, the attitude they will win no matter what has to be there.
Us fans? Zero control over their play and I will take the better percentage all day. |

It doesn't change that the Jays percentage of winning a world series improves quite a bit if they don't have the TB path and not have to face the O's. |

All roads, NHL and MLB, pass through Tampa. How a meth-filled gatorhole became a crossroads of sports is beyond me. - GalacticStone
Meth-filled gatorhole lmao....I read about fishing stories in Florida where (frank)ing GATORS are a factor. I gotta be mindful of bears but they're usually not hiding under the (frank)ing water |

Alright man take it easy bud. No need to keep this going eh - just a simple comment in response to yours about how athletes vs fans think. It was a logical and accurate comment. I never argued percentages and paths matchups etc., just said mindset athlete vs fan. I’ll put an emoji after it next time to make it seem less serious 🧐 |

I have been taking it easy, just words and none directed towards your comment in a bad way.
Athlete perspectives are different. I just saw a speech from the Coyotes GM hyping them up to compete for a playoffs spot.
They have no chance, the fans know it but of course the team is going to think they will win a cup this year. |

In a simulator, but not in real life. You get better by playing a stronger opponent. Percentages don't surf. |

Thats what the regular season is for.
All good teams in the playoffs. I'd rather not face two of the top teams in the league the first 2 rounds.
path of least resistance is the obvious path to want to take.
Better percentage to win the World Series=good
More baseball in Toronto this fall=good

Stats, stats, and more stats - obsessive stats these days with sports can’t stand it (not costanza or cantstandya). Analytics help out a bit within sports for sure but folks put way way too much emphasis on them.
Sports still played by unpredictable humans man. You can utilize these stats to try to get a better idea and come closer to kinda sorta predicting but at the end of day stats mean poop. Look at the first round most years. |

Signing Kane? - AdamFrench
Feel like the point of the trade was to inexplicably make the Leafs worse, so I don't know. |

This was timely. Though it is currently unconfirmed wether the bear was hiding in a waterhole waiting for the hikers to fill their canteens.

If Jays lose, Tampa could end up playing any one of Toronto, Houston or Texas - Canada Cup
If Jays lose by more than 3 runs Tampa might even play Saskatchewan |

It's the cheap taxes and "good weather", if saunas and hurricanes are your thing. Weather is good a couple days a year - when the eye of the hurricane is directly overhead.

Novels of John D MacDonald, Carl Hiaason and a couple of others are as close as I want to get to Florida these days days. |

waiving your 2019 first round RHD to keep Travis Hamonic AND give him a no-move clause all while your 2C remains unsigned bc you capped yourself out despite not making the playoffs in over a half decade?
that’s that Ottawa magic babyyyyyy
