Obviously players play to win. Managers set the lineups though and at this stage for Toronto, winning isn’t the objective. Resting players, getting pitching set up is what matters.

Just pointing out that an athlete understands that you need to beat good teams to win a championship and it doesn’t matter who you play - your preparation focus mindset as an athlete doesn’t change. Also, sometimes playing against stronger competition early on gets you into the fight earlier and that’s better.

Athlete perspectives are different. I just saw a speech from the Coyotes GM hyping them up to compete for a playoffs spot.

Thats what the regular season is for.

Stats, stats, and more stats - obsessive stats these days with sports can’t stand it (not costanza or cantstandya). Analytics help out a bit within sports for sure but folks put way way too much emphasis on them.
Sports still played by unpredictable humans man. You can utilize these stats to try to get a better idea and come closer to kinda sorta predicting but at the end of day stats mean poop. Look at the first round most years.
