No one is predicting anything
Just some would rather face teams that are not as good early on in playoffs so their team has more of a chance of winning
Would you rather face TB or SJ in a playoff series? Its just stats. - Santo_44
(I personally will not face either nor will the Wings this year)
It depends - assuming they both make the playoffs the stats and metrics for the geeks will be much closer than they are in the example you are using (assuming you used SJ cause they are worse than Wings at the moment) - I would need to know more here Professor: what are the injury status of both teams, who’s coming in hot, what’s the record against each team home and away, who has home ice, and for the nerds which team plays better when the wind outside the barn is blowing SE and the first batch of popcorn was burnt in the concession stand closest to Gate 1?

This. And, I don't have tens of thousands of dollars to uproot my family and life to start again somewhere else in my 50's. |

Yes, it’s tough to do. At least you enjoy your days outside. Where do you do most of your fossil searching? A guy would call a radio talk show that used to be on around here with stories of a lot of cool things he would find. Iirc, mostly in the Crystal River area. |

It's not all bad. I've also lived in St. Louis, near Memphis, and New Orleans, so I have some other places to compare it to.
The winters are great. The beaches and babes are top notch. The fossil hunting is great.
The taxes thing is overstated. Sure, the lack of state income tax is great. But, the state and counties have to make up that revenue elsewhere. And they do, in spades. High fuel taxes, liquor taxes, property taxes, sales taxes, and fees for everything. It all comes out even in the wash when you finish crunching the numbers. Maybe those numbers are more substantial for the wealthy, but the average working class Joe doesn't pay much in state income tax anyway, unless you exceed the standard deduction by a good margin, which many don't. |

Mostly the Peace River, but also the Withlacoochee and Alafia. Polk, Hardee, and Desoto counties the majority of the time.

Oh, that jogs the memory, it was actually the Peace River he often mentioned as where he found his best fossils. It’s been a long time since hearing his calls.
Good luck in your searches. |

there is legitimate debate over whether you'd want to face the Rays or the Twins. The Twins are 18-9 since September 1 with the league's best offense (most runs) and 8th best pitching.
Tampa, by contrast, had the 17th most runs and 6th best pitching.
We were sitting 14th in runs and 20th in pitching over the last month.
The Twins have been rolling.

Bud if you can’t figure out that if SJ and Tbay made the playoffs they are BOTH very good teams.
You are using a ridiculous example with those 2 teams:
1. SJ wouldn’t be what they are currently if they were a playoff team. How can’t your genius figure that out.
2. Let’s just say I’m considering SJ a playoff calibre team - who knows who I would want to play. Is it a team that was rolling then they lost their starter and top line centre? Those are the types of examples I was using to make the point it’s impossible to use your example. It just makes no sense man. Based on stats would you have figured the bruins would be knocked out round 1 after destroying the league and winning Presidents Trophy? Based on metrics would you have figured Leafs offence and overall their team would get rolled by panthers round 2? You can’t predict puck from stats bud.
3. then provided an example of how loopy these stats can be.
This conversation is over because you can’t see utilizing maybe the worst team in the vs Tbay in a ‘who would you rather play playoff time’ is super dumb bud.
Again Professor - if SJ was a playoff team would even their stats look like they do now? That should be the first jolt you should’ve felt. The next one should’ve been: wait a tick, if I’m using this example and arguing for stats I should maybe consider what the head to head matchup stats are and injuries - that’s when you should’ve you can’t because your example is not only fictional, it’s ridiculous and poorly thought out. |

For me, the biggest thing is that the Twins have read Gausman well this season. Either they just hit well against him or they noticed how he could be tipping his pitches.
If he can get that under control will be the biggest factor in the series. |
