It all comes down to whether someone uses the established definition of consistency or they change it.
- Glak18

Consistent in what way? Are you saying players are inconsistent because they don’t get a point every game? Or are you saying they bring their B game instead of their A game on most nights?

Short answer is no. I think it will be one or the other.
- bmeltzer

A team doing a real rebuild has them both in the line-up. But we all know the Flyers are not rebuilding....but they are still sucking so we have that

Consistency should be tied to expectations to your point.

I would say effort across the league is pretty consistent, expecting guys to produce night in and night out is foolish. How many guys on the flyers would you say don’t bring it every night? Maybe a few tops

It's all in the same, a player can have a great game and get zeroes points. I've also seen players have multiple points and play like crap, unfortunately some fans think if you get a point/goal that player automatically played well.

Consistency is a base attribute, whether it's affected by injury, age, personal reasons, etc. Why do players retire? Because they can no longer do what they used to do day after day...consistency.

It's no different than a regular person going to work every day, they are not consistent day after day. It's a human flaw that is unavoidable.

So you’re saying most players don’t bring the same effort every night? You’re clearly pointing to production not mattering.

Production, effort, decisions...they are ALL part of consistency.

I know many fans don't care about most things as long as the stat line looks good, but making 1 or 2 good plays in the game doesn't negate mistakes made.

So now production is apart of it. Please explain what a consistent player needs to do in an extremely fluid game to be labeled consistent. So they can’t have a single turnover? Is Scott Laughton consistent?

i guess in order to make Frost look good you have to convince yourself the entire league is overwhelmingly inconsistent

Emil andrae looks like he is going to be a very solid Dman in the near future.
If we can draft a couple of top Dmen this next draft then we may have a solid D core in a few years.

Of course many of us said that when we had provy and sanheim coming up

Funny as soon as I read this I thought of Joel Farabee. He scores a goal or make a good pass then makes 4 bad plays that result in goals or chances. It is why I would like to trade him.

I guess you would have to define consistency, either it being offensive driven or defensive depending on the player. But I agree that most players don't give the same effort every game during a season(injuries, outside distractions) play a part.

List what players on the Flyers are consistent players?

A player can play with effort every game and still be an inconsistent player. Just because a player is playing hard with effort, doesn't mean they're playing well.

I thought the pass interference call on Bradford was nonsense. The unnecessary roughness call inside the 10. The Eagle defender is going in for the hit and the receiver lowers himself. What is he to do? He can't stop his momentum at that point.

Can we agree that the Flyers have been consistently bad for the last 10 years?

yes they have been.

but when folks are talking about morgan frost and one of the common knocks on his game is that he is inconsistent, to then defend that by saying "yeah well the overwhelming majority of NHL players are inconsistent..." is hysterical.
