At first glance I thought Bedard was Kane. Perhaps cause he wears #98, but he sure appears to have the Kane skills with the puck and the same build as well. |

Lefty confused with a righty? - ClaudeFather Aside from that. I'm talking about the way he glides around the ice. He also appears to be very shifty and gets his shot off lightning quick. Many of the same traits of Kane. |

I'll weigh in on this. Not to boast but I think I know hockey systems as well as anyone on here. I agree in that I think the AHL team should be playing the same system. However I don't think that is a factor on player development. In my opinion, it's more about the Flyers methods. They like to make a player "earn it". Make the player adopt a different role and have to improve on their weaknesses before they let them play to their strengths. They metaphorically make a player who is a RH shot learn to play LH before they let him use his strengths. In my opinion, top teams put a player in the best position they can to use his strengths while also working on weaknesses. Let the player build confidence and have some success. The Flyers also lack patience. They yo-yo players too much if the player doesn't grow fast enough for their liking. They are too quick to pull the plug, cut ice time and demote players. Then there is the archaic, the player has to beat out the veteran routine. Stack the deck against a player year after year and then, well the player just didn't work out. Hopefully that all changes but with Tortorella on board. I don't see it happening. I hope I'm wrong. - MJL
I agree with all of what you have said and I have the same concerns. The kids don't have the full range to be themselves and one mistake could have them on then bench or out of the line up. That concerns me with their development. If they're scared to make a mistake then they won't truly play their game |

I have no problem with an individual player do such. The problem is when the team or league mandates it - THE BLACK HAND
Agreed. Nobody should ever be forced to do something they don't agree with.
No matter anyone feels about the topic at hand I don't think any player should have to dress in any way, tape their stick in any way, or wear a jersey of any type if they don't agree with the topic at hand.
It's the players freedom to choose what they want ro support. Once it's forced on any player it's not okay |

Big concern for the Pens is the age, folks saying NHL is a young mans game and foot speed, quickness, agility favor the young. |

PIT - 30.8 - wcorvette I guess the NHL Network on Sirius/XM was off with their numbers a bit. They said that they were the oldest team by an average of 2 years to the next oldest team, but it looks more like a year and a half based on that. Never the less, they have an age problem. Those names on paper would scare the hell out of anyone, but the game isn't played on paper and they are an old team. The Caps are toast too. The changing of the guard is upon us.
The scariest number I see on there is the fact that the Devils are YOUNGER than the Flyers by average age and they are already considered a Cup contender. Yikes! |

Think next season, Cutter and MM season after, plus they will move vets, Flyers will get younger. Rangers standout to me, really think they came out of their re-build to quick. They need a run the next year or two.

Yes. Great to see them lose that one... I wonder where beaker the pens troll is? They've mortgaged their future for one last shot and they're still terrible. I suspect the plan is to have the NHL save them again once all their fairweather fans stop coming to games and the team goes bankrupt.. |

Gonna have to make some tough decisions on guys like Hart and TK. I doubt anyone is taking Atkinson or Coots until they prove that they can stay healthy. Laughts could be moved pretty easily if they choose to move him. We shall see... |

Atkinson I could see if he proves healthy. Coots contract is too long I think for anyone to take him even if he's healthy. |

Okay, I'll bite. Do you have proof that other teams DON't employ the same methods? It's the best league in the world and the bottom line is all about winning. Could it be that other organizations just have more NHL ready talent in their systems? I don't really buy your stance here without proof that the Flyers are impatient while other organizations aren't. Thanks! - Phillywhiteout
MJL said it's just his OPINION. He explained his opinion very clearly. He listed several reasons for his opinion. It's an opinion. I don't understand what the big deal is? Why are folks so upset by this opinion? What kind of proof is needed? The team has been terrible for 10 years. Who are the great players coming out of the Flyers' system? We all know it's not JUST player development that is responsible for this mess of a team, but obviously they are not doing a great job of developing players. |
