The D in Abby seem to be only depth injury call up worthy. Look at AHL Friedman come in and surpass them all for a regular roster spot. So the only improvement now will come via trade. It worked with Hronek seeing the multiplier effect on team performance. Does this mean sending away the other young prospects not in Abby and draft picks for the next trade?
This window, Capp management, and development balance gets tricky. Especially when you have a NHL core busting out like the Canucks do at present. What’s the smart move? |

Did any of those goals look NHL worthy to you? - Quinn's Quest
Kind of an odd question but all of them? They all have some NHL worthy qualities to them. Separation speed, hands in tight, finding open space, getting to the slot, getting pucks through on net. 4 of them were PP goals. 3 of them by D.
McDonough had a lot of PP goals, standings in his office and firing them. He's not hit the ground running in Abbotsford. He also had a lot of other holes in his game, skating, engagement around the ice.
Really the only player there due to draft status that is showing real NHL potential is Willander.
We know Studnicka is a 13th forward. Perkins and Mueller are later round picks. Truscott, Kudryavtsev, Brzustewicz have potential to be NHL D if they can take another step. 3rd pairing, depth guys but showing potential. |

Just thought there was not much zip on them to beat an NHL quality goalie. Maybe I am wrong.
Anyway let’s see how far Willander progresses. Canucks need an ELC strong player to make up for the tight cap with the OEL buy out hit coming. |

As long as it's not a Garland Muffin. Garland has two goals on the season and both are pretty identical deflections. He's below the 50th percentile for avg shot speed.

After their first 10 NCAA games:
• Adam Fantilli: 9G, 20PTS
• Macklin Celebrini: 9G, 19PTS
Celebrini is doing this while being 8 months younger too.
Celebrini most likely fighting for 2nd overall last year. Cole Eiserman projected 2nd overall in this draft is 2 months younger than Celebrini is. Putting up Jack Hughes type numbers this year with what appears to be worse players than Jack Hughes played with. Jack had 6 players drafted top 15 with him. The only player that appears in most mock drafts is tiny little D Cole Hutson and he is late 20s.
I sure hope Van keeps their 1st round pick this year. (not because they will get either of those 2 or the tiny D but because it is a very good 1st round) |

I am. If they had a 2nd rounder, I'd be less but they don't have that either. |

Squandering all those 1st oa picks seems to be the theme in Edmonton. If you check out where they’ve draft since Taylor Hall, it’s amazing tjat that they’re having this kind of year.
2010 1st oa Hall
2011 1st oa Nugent Hopkins
2012 1st oa Yakapov
2013 7th oa Nurse
2014 3rd oa Draisaitl
2015 1oa McDavid
2016 4th oa Poolparty
2017 22nd oa Yamamoto
2018 10th oa Bouchard
2019 8th oa Broberg
2020 14th oa Holloway
2021 22nd oa Bougault
2022 32nd oa Schaefer
2023 52nd oa Akey

Benning would be an improvement over the past few Oilers GM sadly. 😆
Just haven't been able to build a team. |

Flyers up 2-1 on Vegas half a game to go but blew a 5min PP. Let’s see if they can pull off the upset. So chance for Canucks to beat the Kraken and take 1st again. Would be a nice way to put the Flames loss behind. |

Here's a prediction for you, Canucks go on a 4 game losing streak, my good friend Reuby makes a triumphant return to the blog, All will be as it was in the blog as it was last season, and Michael drops off blogging for a month. |

Mitchel blogs the most when something bad happens to the team. I think we'd get hourly blogs if they hit a 4 game losing skid. |
