Great depth win last night, the manner in which the 3rd and 4th lines have been playing is exactly what this team needs. Unusual to see the top players not overly involved in the scoring but they still posed enough of a threat and allowed the muckers to bring in a win.
Be interesting to see if Kuzmenko stays in the press box, didn’t notice his absence so maybe another night off might do him some good. |

If Kuzmenko gets back in, who comes out? It would be a mistake to break up the bottom 6 the way they are playing. Pizza Guy is the only candidate in the top 6. He's been somewhat invisible. If not him, they should scratch Kuz a 2nd game I guess. |

Aah DiGi wasn’t in the top 6 last night. So you go ahead & consider breaking up the bottom 6.

I had just read that if Aman plays tonight it is his 70 th game and he needs waivers to go back down. Suter is injured and it looks to be long term. Aman will probably stick with the team now.

Really liked Aman’s game. Found his scoring touch at Abby & brought it last night. I’m liking our faster skating adds like him & Lafferty. Miky is just starting to show he’s back up to speed. Hoagie is adding to that nicely. |

Numbers game so I predict DiGi goes down once roster gets healthier. |

Garland has been very solid & reliable. Energy every night bringing very good value whether stays or traded.
Beau has also been underrated. Be nice if he could score a bit more & get his due.
Hoagie is really impressing & played a very responsible energy game. |

Will this prompt trade interest…
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Capitals forward T.J. Oshie left this game in the second period with an upper-body injury and won’t be traveling with the club during their upcoming road trip. |

They were talking about that in yesterdays pregame. He's here to stay.
I think they will probably put Blue on the wing when Suter returns. |

Fine by me. Sending him a message he has to buy in more is accountability. Any player is not above that the team comes 1st. |

Any team with high aspirations has to put team 1st. That’s on the ice & in the wallet. Winning comes at a cost & a pro has to be willing to pay it. |

Imo what RT & staff are trying to implement is PO style hockey. Systems are only as good as is far as they take a team that has total buy in. So far the system when played as a team pays big dividends. Still in the early stages but it has shown continuity & it works. It further rewards players who bring energy & intensity & attention details. That sets the tone for everyone & the prospects on what is needed to be a winner & to be a part of the team identity. There are no passengers or special treatment. |

Of course. The dog house is earned. A wake up call to get with the program. Coaches don’t motivate they set out conditions that all play under & what is expected. They put it on the locker room that everyone is on the same page pulling together. |

Kuz might also be a little off after taking that shot to the chin. Benefit of the doubt. Sitting out isn’t a bad thing if watching & learning & comes back on a mission. |

I figured that. They gave him a two year extension yesterday. They liked him last year and this year it was a numbers game so he was the odd man out until yesterday.

RT mentioned they wanted to keep him up at season start but his waiver status trumped the decision.

Same goes for Pod & the convenience of grooming him more in Abby. Hog had to stay up with no exemption. He has shown so far it was warranted. |

Canucks can tie Boston for league lead if Vegas loses and we win. Rangers beat Boston today. |

I like the bottom six depth but still think a little more improvement is needed. Maybe one more tweak.
I still think I would offer Kuz to the NYR and ask for a trade back of Schneider. Even if you had to add something? Maybe even a little bigger Lafreniere and Scneider for Kuz and a first and then turn to the Flames for Zadarov. I will let Nighthawk dot the I's and cross the T's.
Much better than Juulsen and Bear or Freidman. |
