Tocc doesn't care about how much players make, that's for Allvin and Co.
- NewYorkNuck

Didn't he coach him in Arizona? I am not a Kessel fan but he does have 83 pts in 100 playoff games and like 800 points in 1200 regular games. He can produce points.

RT sort of does care I think. If he sees cap going down the sink then I am sure he is thinking the team can do much better at providing a player earning his salary in that spot.

Definitely would be a mistake. Dude is committed and talented, and been a bit snake-bitten.
- NewYorkNuck

Snake bitten and still has 15 points in 22 games while being fed limited minutes by the coach. He brings a net-front element to the PP that no other fwd on the team does. It would be a Jim Benning-type move. Trade him only to immediately begin looking for a player that does all the same things.

Getting good value out of Kuzmenko depends on Petey being at the top of his game which hasnt been the case the last month for both players. Petey will resume his high production and Kuze will follow. Otherwise what you see is what you get with Kuze.

Agreed. I'm just saying, even at lower value, he's better than Garland for 500k more.

Maybe they would like a player with a bit more abrasiveness, that can score 15-20 and weighs over 180lbs, they have an abundance of those guys.

Garland, Hoglander, Pouty, Hughes, Hronek, Kuzmenko, Blueger, Suter, Aman and Karlsson.

Had to edit that comment, as I forgot about 2 players.

Fair, so swap out Garland for one. That would be an actual upgrade instead of having give and take.

From the coach's perspective, he values Garland's game much more. As the fan's complain about Garland day to day, RT praises him and explains why.

He's a small skill player who gets paid 5 mil and is on pace for 23 points, he hasn't been horrendous but there's no way to really sugarcoat those stats.

I really hope they circle back to Toffili in the summer and if they could add a guy like Konecny.

Yet RT continues to do just that because he's been getting a more effective effort and results out of Garland. One is completely failing in his top 6 role, the other has been effective in his bottom 6 role. One is getting scratched and being mentioned as needing a change of scenery by RT... the other has secured his place, follows his assignments and gets positive language in interviews. Both are overpaid based on offensive production but clearly Garland is providing the team better value based on giving the coach something useful that he can rely on. Kuze is useless atm. Can't score enough, cant grind at all. Has no defensive game. Even when he was producing when Petey was hot, he was still getting benched when they were protecting leads.

It's kinda like Myers, most fans want him as a 3rd pairing, or 7th defenseman, yet the NHL coaches have him playing 18-22 minutes, other than those 2 or 3 games where they played him 13 minutes

Calling his play this year a complete failure is completely disingenuous. I get that the coach doesn't look at paychecks but from a management standpoint Kuzmenko is outperforming Garland without question.

15 points vs 7 in 2 minutes more average ice time. Neither throws hits, neither is good defensively.

In what manner? RT sends Garland out and gets the effort and results he's more than satisfied with. Completely the opposite with Kuzmenko. Try and not focus on Kuzmenko's decent production early in the season when Petey was hot. Kuze has been a passenger ever since. This still applies to a management's perspective when you compare paychecks. Some value vs almost no value.

From watching the games and not looking at stat sheets, I notice Garland a lot more than I notice Kuz. One thing I did notice about Kuz when he was scratched recently, was that the team played just fine without him, especially on the PP.

RT disagrees with you. He has said it enough times and clearly he trust one more than the other defensively.

Kuzmenko's points all come from being on the ice with Petey or all the team's best offensive players on the top pp unit... and it's dried up for him. Healthy scratches reflect his play. He is a one dimensional goal scorer and in spite of what I just pointed out, has 4 goals in 22 games. 2 more than Garland who provides something for his team every game.

I'm with ya Northy. One player has also publicly asked for a trade. The other took his trip to the press box seriously and hasn't moped around it. I'll take the one that wants to be here, has a higher ceiling and better attitude. The problem is, for the reasons above, Kuzmenko is more moveable than Garland.

Garland did not publicly ask for a trade. He wouldnt confirm or deny it but he certainly didnt go public and request a trade.
