Thank goodness they didn't make this suggested lineup alteration during the game tonight. - kingcong39

Their offence has been neutered.
Rush offence is non-existent.
I didn’t mind the period as a whole, but this commitment to whatever system they are trying to play now to reduce chances against has been completely successful in reducing their own offence - Swedish_Jesus
I'd like to enter the following into evidence...
>>> The biggest shifts from last year to this year:
- Buffalo, no longer the explosive team off the rush they were last year.
- Winnipeg, from a bottom-tier team to one of the best.
- Philadelphia, see Winnipeg
- LA, improved rush offense dramatically.
- NJ, defense fell apart

The Sabres have 3 lines with chemistry right now.
The Jost Olofsson and Murray line is a joke of a 3rd or 4th line. What ever you want to call him.
Murray is bad. See ya dude. That penalty was brutal. Go to learn to skate |

Fitting they score 3 goals off the rush after I made that post.
Got to lean into it, that identity led to the 3rd highest scoring team in hockey last year and I think the goaltending is better this year to cover up the shortfall (barring UPL getting back to playing well) |

Murray is 6'5 - 240.
He has a chance to absolutely bury Paul Cotter near the end of the game.
A chance Cotter would never miss, and instead of Murray running him over, he gently hugs him.
If he's not going to hammer a guy with his size with a prime opportunity like that, what's he even doing in the NHL? |

Sounds amazing for an 18 year old 13th overall pick in his debut NHL season, when he won't even be 19 until May next year.
Finally found some proper linemates for Cozens with moving Casey to the wing.
Greenway and Quinn can't come back soon enough to make all the lines real. |

I’d rather them claim Vinny and play him over Murray.
The team will be boarding the plane tonight and that jamoke will still be back checking to get off the ice |

Mur can go back. He does not have NHL compete level, skill, hockey IQ, and toughness. It’s a shame.
Jost was the worst player in the ice though |

I am glad people are understanding what I’m saying about Murray.
Good AHLer though. Nothing with with that
The Jost Olfosson Murray line is the most confusing line we have. Everyone else gelled this game.

Observations from the game
- Sabres best were the youngest - Levi and Benson
- Cozens had a nice game too
- Ry Jo needs to stay in. No more rotating him out.
- They only have 3 lines. That 4th line is a disaster with Jost/Olo/Murray. The Sabres can't rely on 3 lines only.
- what is going on with Thompson? Floating around and doing nothing.
- they pressured the puck well tonight. They need to keep this up everygame.
Moves they need to make:
- When Greenway/Quinn come back, waive Murray, Comrie.
- When Skinner comes back, waive Bryson.
- Waive/trade Olofsson and give Rosen/Kulich a real look in the top 9.
- move Levi back to #1 with UPL backing up.
Probably still not enough to get back into the playoffs but at least they'll be watchable again.

As you said, they need to lean into who they are from a roster perspective, even if they're not fully confident in their goaltending.
Sabres direly need to figure out how to at least get the high danger chances for and against even on a game by game basis.
Vegas had the edge tonight 27-10.
Cannot let that continue long term, as eventually the goaltending will crumble under that kind of disadvantage. |

Yes throwing in UPL or comire will do that goaltending wise |

Levi definitely stole at minimum one point tonight, he was incredible.
I’ve seen the Sabres be on the other side of efforts where they deserved to win this year too often that I’m not going to mince about getting out chanced by Vegas at home on a heater.
Tage, Tuch Quinn, and Greenway can’t get healthy soon enough.

Jack Quinn to Center?

Skinner too.
They're going to need all deck on hands to make the miraculous run needed to qualify for the playoffs. |

What is going on with Tage is he still has a wrist injury, but the team badly needs him, and he wants to play.
I wonder if he would be playing if they were much higher in the standings, and not in such dire straights. |

Cozens Quinn JJ …. Get the band back together.
Eventually put mitts back at center.
I sure as heck keep Benson with Tuch and tage
Skinner mitts and who
If you have cozens Quinn and jj.
Greenway doesn’t fit that mitts line |

Yes to the above.
Thought it would be interesting to see what they'd do if Casey helps the Cozens and Peterka pairing to really take off, i.e. would they keep Casey on the wing on that line. |

Without a trade or call up, that's their best line up. But I wouldn't mind seeing Rosen/Kulich on line3 and sliding Greenway down to Okposo's spot.

Has to be Levi with the 1st star.
They don't win tonight without his performance, especially in the first period with how Vegas came out to start the game. |
