Can someone tell Pp1 that when the puck is dumped in, they are supposed to go after it,
- LAHawk

Yep. They have the Dman's back tunrned, get to that man/puck and crate some chaos.

KD and the coaching staff have a nice problem on their hands. All of the young defensemen look really good and some highly rated defensive prospects are on the way. How do they choose?

With his skill, speed, motor and polish Beauvillier is their best forechecker. ... He looks comfortable as a Hawk tonight making plays in all 3 zones.

Blackwell ain't the most talented but he's not a bum. Good motor, solid IQ.

For a guy who took forever to get back in the game, Blackwell doesn’t seem to care about his body.

Phillips out to start the 3rd PP and makes a huge block sliding to the ice to save a goal. Very nice.

Like Crevier and his foundation but he needs to put his skates away and hit the squat rack all summer long.

Nice to see a win tonight, that Avs team looked like an ordinary team without Makar in the line up.

For a franchise that hasn't developed a legit NHL Dman since Hammer would you ever ever have thought they would have the problem of a prospect/rookie Dman glut in 2023?????

The evaluators are gonna have to earn their money. And I'd add GMing ain't easy. Hundreds of forks in the road for KD in the next few yrs and untangling the Dman glut might be his most important one.

Pretty sure the Avs coach might agree--- some really sloppy play by the Avs with undisciplined penalties. Young Hawks need to learn that when a team takes a penalty right after giving up a pp goal (a goal that broke a tie) - that you put a ton of pressure on those guys instead of feeling happy about getting the lead - but that just a 'watch the progression' comment...

We'll see if he's consistent but Reichel looks like he did last year today, able to handle the puck on his stick, nice passes, able to receive a pass and i liked how he used his speed then adjusting it so the defender couldn't harass him as much, more of this please

I dunno- 98 didn't get an assist on that PP gal but his play is what made t (too many touches-) ... an area pass to the center of the ice for a late coming Zaitsev. To me he should have been the first star of the game (if it was not going to be Mrazek -who again stood on his head).

McKinnon ain't small and it ain't easy to get a square hit on the guy but Blackwell sure did knocking him down.

Oh man - I gotta a witness -my wife was watching too - I literally said .. "oh ... that's interesting" ... bang bang boom in the net - like holy #2.... because it looked like a version of the push em back entry - but just a bit different. It looked like a set play to my beer leaguer eye.

Blackwell? Um we don't need a replacement for Shaw -we got one already (ok more are nice to have) .... dude was a little tank out there.

Mighta been his best play of the game. Sweet drop at pace allowed the play to develop and unfold. ..... The vision/IQ is really starting to shine.

Game has slowed down for Bedard and he's making plays. Soon he'll be making them pay for overloading/triple teaming him........

Anyone notice when Bedard was forced to skate into that triple team, got the puck just at the attack blueline at pace with 3 guys in front of him, and Reichel followed right behind with pace? If that thing gets popped back Reichel was there for it with 3 guys on Bedard.. That's the way to be dangerous away from the puck.

That is his strength puck mover, skates well, some experience at age 24/25 (not sure exactly which), will deliver a hit but not really a body checker. Reportedly is good positionally. He wasn’t too good in his first game but heck give him a real opportunity and better teammates. He surely is behind more touted prospects. How good is he/his ceiling…….hard to say but if he plays well defensively that gets noticed! Here’s the the thing to know (but kind of hard to know exactly whaT this bodes): he won a job out of camp as an under the radar free agent sign in his North American debut last year. Team brass realized, this kid can play the game of hockey! Yet being inexperienced and not fully ready for zNHL brand he is spotted in and out of lineup. Then after some poor games (maybe lack of confidence) he was demoted. Young guys need to keep plugging away but sitting then playing occasionally is not a good recipe for success. Have to believe he is first to be sent back to AHL If Korchinski was AHL eligible he might get sent there As far as trying to guide these kids should we expect KK stays while Crevier/Kaiser may both play more in Rockford where they will be with Roos

Perhaps the best thing is most of the elements of a good defense group are covered. I’d like to see more physicality, a power play quarterback and most of all an all round every situation guy. Physicality may come from a few guys in a year or two, is Korchinski that pp guy? I’m not sure Vlasic can be that all round first pairing number one guy but right now I think he’s the closest. Great problem to have.

Listening to Murray post game, without mentioning names he said gonna be interesting to see next game's lineup. Indeed.

Kurashev gets sick, Danato slots into 1LW and with Reichel that line has its best game...... Between Reichel and Bedard having 50ish NHL games combined along with Kurashev that line spent whole shifts chasing the puck.

Add a seasoned Danato on that line and they're cookin with rocket fuel. Danoto shows decent fancy stats for a reason and he brings that element to L1 ......... Next game, Kurashev to L2?

Interesting, Paul. I don't wanna get over my skies but so far I could not have hoped for more outa Vlasic. You're right though, being a legit 1st pairing NHL Dman ain't no small feat.

The kid has the tools/foundation, time will tell.

If you are going to be privileged to be a sports anchor like Pat Boyle do your homework. He did a who's hot and who's not, posted stats on Alex Newhook not realizing he's out 8-10 weeks, what a pro.

I think that was their cup game for this year. Blackie played better than anyone expected. The D played well; they just have to learn how to clear the front of the net. My one pet peeve is they constantly leave the point open. They also need someone to teach them how to enter a zone on the powerplay. I don't know what coach is in charge of that but he needs to be replaced.

Watching the Colin Blackwell locker room interview.

He keeps saying yeah-no.

It’s a pet peeve of mine. 😒

Very gutsy game.

What is the difference between this crop of young dmen and the one from 2-3 years ago? Is this crop definitely that much better that they. Can all play against the Aves and not get exposed, or is it different set of expectations and circulations is all?
