If somebody offers a first for Mrazek you have to take it. I’d guess that no GM will offer more than a 3rd for him and that’s not enough value to make a deal.
- DarthKane

Hope you're right. Hope nobody entices KD with a 1st. ....... I could see NJ GM Fitzgerald seeing his team looking legit, fast, dangerous, skill, mix of vets and hot shot kids and watching film of Mrazak and saying I want that guy. I need THAT guy.

They need Mrazak next yr too or an equivalent replacement cuz it'll be a while before a Hawk drafted player is even the backup in the NHL....... Unless KD moves a prospect in a trade for a young NHL/AHL goalie.

I don't know, he has played awful well and if your a team that either loses a goalie or is a good goalie away from a cup, you'd have to consider it.

I don't think I'd trade him for much less, he's one of 3 or 4 guys that's making the season not a total disaster.

No need to lose games on purpose any longer.

Agreed, look at Pieterangelo, Blues win a cup with him and don’t want to pay him. Vegas does, and they win a cup, with him,

Buffalo with the TD and two point conversion. Another solid defensive effort by Toronto.

I've been to that BUF arena to see the WJC, think it was 2010. Was amazed at the amount of Canadians coming over the border to see their boys.

Bet the arena is 1/2 full of Canadians tonight to see the Leafs get clubbed.

No, they already do a good job losing while trying to win. In all seriousness, I don’t think anybody will offer a first for Mrazek, but I’m with Darth, if somebody does you have to take it.

I was at four games during that series. I saw you get hustled out of the arena for public intoxication.

Absolutely you take a first if it’s offered and the Leafs and Edmonton may both need one at the TDL. Then KD can re-sign him in the summer.

Yup, Blues thought Parayko would be able to become Pieterangelo. Nice player, but no,Pieterangelo.

In the third period the announcer said there was going to be a lot of unhappy people driving north after the game. I'll be most were half way back to Toronto when he said it.

Well let's be reasonable here. A first for him is probably not going to happen but if someone was that desperate I think that is a deal you do.

Stamkos when he signed the deal was the 9th highest paid player in the league so probably not egregiously far off from what he would have gotten on the market.

Giroux got a little less at 29 at about the same time and is about the same calibre overall player.

Kucherov probably underpaid by a million but it's the same money that TheChuck makes so there's the Florida factor. 9.5 until he's 34 with his injury history may or may not age well.

Hedman and Sergachev maxed out at the time they signed. So did their goaler and Point.

Not a lot of money left on the table at the end of the day.

I seem to remember that it was a bunch less than Toronto was offering at the time. But the circus atmosphere courtship of Stammer creeped him out so he went back to Tampa for less.

Eh 9 or 9.5 vs 8.5 in Florida is probably close to a wash take home salary wise. I don't think any team was going to give him 10+. The Toronto craziness is a thing and winters I guess. He took less but it wouldn't have been a crazy amount.

Me too, but not the Gold game........... No, what you saw was me walking around in circles thru Buffalo like a goof, cold that night, trying to find my car. Always trying to save 30 bucks on parking and this time it almost bit me.

Sat next to a Canadian guy and his 12 yr old. Man kept apologizing for his countryman acting wild but I thought they were just supporting their club.. His kid was an encyclopedia of knowledge. Mighta been sitting next to a future Leafs PBP guy.

I might value Mrazak more than some/most here so I'm glad a few of you are saying no way a 1st will be offered for Mrazak. It is a heavy price cuz he's probably just a rental for a cup probable squad up against the cap.

I fell for Paryako too. Didn't see him as good as Petro but I thought he was a true #1 minute eater with size that could skate. .... Pietro is a man and plays like one.

Not missing out on an underlaying message about team defense and that message is the floodgates of scoring against Buffalo a few times the past month or so

Lots of talent in Buffalo especially the offensive side. Lots of young talent stands out. There is not a lot of experience on the blue line crew. As a team effort they need to focus and clamp down defensively. The players know they are the hot goods, th talented scoring team. Interest and desire to score comes naturally but steady string defensive effort is not a natural inclination

That is my take . Probably can break it down but defense often has to learned and practiced

If the Blues wanted to keep Pieterangelo, they would have figured it out. ALL teams figure out a way to keep players they consider their core.

Trading Mrazek back to Toronto for another 1st would be the ultimate GM move. New GM in Toronto, so not totally out of the question.

Mrazek could get a 1st this year for a team that wants to win bad enough. He has played lights out behind a very bad team. He could be the right piece at the right time for a playoff contender who gets hot at the end of the season.

Think about the prices the Hawks paid for rentals because they felt they were a piece away. Some very good teams around the league desperately need an upgrade at goalie. Mrazek might end up being the best available piece when the time comes.
