How about those fans, Connor. I guess that memo is still being distributed. |

Is it worth it for the Hawks to give up a goaltender that will keep most games at least respectable for a second round draft choice? Or you willing to see the young D giving up 5;goals a game? - LAHawk
If the price is right you make the deal. It's about winning shifts for these young players right now, not games.

I believe that was a full house, at least it looked that way on tv. Old Danny boy better be saving for the offseason. |

Yea winning the Bedard lotto has made this rebuild much more profitable. Be nice to win 2 years in a row. |

Well I love being wrong .... I wasn't too excited about the forward line combos ... I think Reichel looked ok tonight, too.
I imagine get 98 addicted to the roar... I doubt that ever gets old. B) |

Yeh that's right- and playing good solid hockey -and learning what that means at the NHL level. Guys whining about not getting the call (ok Bedard gets an excuse forthat missed trip call at the end of the 2nd) -edit -- Raddysh I meant (not Johnson) (near the end of the 3rd) doesn't - you pick your butt off the ice and get back in the stinking play (especially late in the game like that was)... just my take - and I've been wrong all night -so there is that. :/ |

Is a second rounder the right price. I know to you draft choices are more valuable than having actual NHL players.
Ever play D in front of a sieve? Doesn’t develop the D, if anything it retards their growth.
How would KK think if Mrazek didn,t bail him out right before Bedard’s OT goal? |

Pet peeve again, Vosters has no idea and doesn't identify an odd-man break like that 4 on 2 the Jets had. Does he even know the phrase 2 on 1 or 3 on 1? - Popsghostly
Look- Vosters ... he's like a crosscheck in the back in a close game ... I just ignore the guy - but man I wish they'd just drop announcers and just go with the game --- drop in some color commentary on the highlights - and in between periods -done. Talking about TV -- I'd not do Troy out of a job on radio ...

You're the one that's always expecting him to get hurt?
So now he's not?
I get what i can, i don't see a 31 year old goalie part of the Blackhawks future. I'll take my chances with a 2nd round draft pick that has a 35% chance of being a pro hockey player

LA HAWK,
I am curious and I want to be enlightened as to the supposed turn around of Sam Durzi
Durzi was dealt for a 2nd round choice. You didn’t think too much or too highly of him. He was down 5th or 6th on the Kings depth chart- correct. You knew that sooner or later Clarke, a first round choice, would debut on the Kings blue line….so it was just a matter of time until Durzi left
Is that how you felt about Durzi employment with the Kings after last season?
Well the Coyotes GM liked him and I was surprised the Kings garned a second round for his service
Now however Durzi is having a great year. Is he their best dman? Had a goal and three assists as Coyotes came back to beat Avalanche
A side note here: the Avalanche defensively have not been as good this season. Giving up leads. I’ve seen where the Avalanche have been called “lighter.” The dmen collectively is not so good, is overrated. Or you can say the players do not have the right mindset, taking too much for granted, believe they can win without putting forth maximum effort as a teammate calked the team out after a recent loss.
Well anyway
Appears that Durzi is pretty good and the Avalanche need to stop an avalanche of goals against. |

Good question. Not always. My computer doesn't face the TV and there's times I'm shooting off routine e-mails during games or typing here. Also wifey tries to talk to me while the game is on.
Not only does he usually not announce odd man rushes, he keeps the same monotone voice.
I grew up watching Foley in his heydey and it would be electric on WBBM or whereever when the Hawks had a rush like that. Weideman calls them well too. I'd rather have him do play by play on TV.

So who plays goal for the Hawks the next 2 years Alex Stalock? Want to see how good the young defenseman look with Ilia Samsonov in the nets? Matt Murray? Guess they should just sign Malcom Subban?
I guess your rebuild “playbook” that you keep referring to calls for top 3 draft choices the next 5 years. Until then who cares about fielding a team that wouldn’t even make the Calder Cup playoffs. Helluva way to develop young players. Can’t wait for the GM to sign Pat Maroon next year, perfect boat anchor replacement for Corey Perry.

Kings last year had an over abundance of right d men
Durz did not have a good year last year. They has Jordan Spence marinating in the A to replace Durzi to Ron 2nd unit PP and bottom pair defenseman, which he has done better than Durzi did.

I'm glad you aren't rebuilding this team otherwise we'd probably be mediocre forever |

What does the 5 years they sucked have to do with JHawks question of why they traded Durzi?

Better than being an embarrassment striving to be mediocre at some point in the distant future. |

The crowd tonight was awesome. It was a packed house and it exploded on Bedard's OT winner!
I don't know why people are so worried about the Hawk's spending money. If there is one thing I am confident in them doing, it is opening up the checkbook when the time comes. There is no way they will run out a roster as bare with offensive talent as this one next year.
I also don't want them to just spend recklessly to spend. I haven't looked at the FA market, but I want them to bring in impact players. Again, in defense of KD, this is their first 'real' year of rebuilding. Last year, they tore it down. This year, it's the beginning of building it back up. I still am shocked that people are surprised with how bad this team is this year. |

I wil reference the Seattle Kraken surprise good showing last year as applies to the surprise performance of Durzi this season
Sometimes a younger veteran blossoms, turns the corner, or his performance goes up a couple of levels to above average. It happens after gaining experience in the NHL.
This is what happened with the development of some Seattle players last season.
I believe you called it accurately with Durzi. But now he has taken a step forward in a new environment with a new team |

I actually agree with you on a rebuild topic.
You keep a goalie like Mrazek now. I think its important that Bedard plays in competitive games right now. Its the only way they can be competitive. And while I'm on this subject, enough with the goalies splitting time. I know you're risking injury playing Mrazek more, but at least right now, Soderblom isn't an NHL goalie.
They win in St. Louis if Mrazek is in goal, they lose last night and that dynamic winning goal never happens, and you don't see that girl crying here eyes out after it, if Soderblom is in goal.

Great post. I suppose I'd be shocked if I hadn't been reading here for a while. Some of the names have changed afa the posters go, but the manic vibe from game to game and shift to shift lives on. Vive la BOD!
