I bet KFC can't wait to sign him after trading Mrazek

⚡️ TORPEDO MAKES IT OFFICIAL ⚡️

Nikolai Khabibulin, who is Torpedo's goaltending coach, has signed a one-way contract until the end of the season.

He'll turn 51 in January. The Russian Jagr.

I actually agree with you on a rebuild topic.

You keep a goalie like Mrazek now. I think its important that Bedard plays in competitive games right now. Its the only way they can be competitive. And while I'm on this subject, enough with the goalies splitting time. I know you're risking injury playing Mrazek more, but at least right now, Soderblom isn't an NHL goalie.

They win in St. Louis if Mrazek is in goal, they lose last night and that dynamic winning goal never happens, and you don't see that girl crying here eyes out after it, if Soderblom is in goal.

I believe everyone here was saying the same thing last year about Stalock?

If I'm KD i listen to Jimmy Waite, We worry who's going to be in goal the following year and a guy always seems to emerge.

What does the 5 years they sucked have to do with JHawks question of why they traded Durzi?
- LAHawk

It was just a reminder that LA sucked, i believe he came to the Kings by trade with Toronto plus a 1st round pick, for Muzzin. Also the year that LA drafted Jordan Spence they were bad once again and had 9 picks in that year's draft. By the way Durzi was a 2nd round pick, Kings had 2 second round picks in 2020 one of them is Faber so even though draft picks don't mean anything to you they are quite valuable.

They don't have Jimmy Waite, besides we have Gajan and Commesso coming up through the ranks.

Yup just like everyone was hyping Soderblom last year. Did Waite refuse to coach him this year?

Hasn't Waite also coached the likes of Colin Delia, Matt Tompkins, Kevin Lankenen, Anton Forsberg, Ivan Nalimov ?

Yes but what you are so conveniently excluding is a goalie does step up in every season so far

And they move on

Keep drafting or trading for goalies til one turns out. You forgot Cam Ward, Malcolm Subban, Jeff Glass, Jean Francois Berube and Scott Foster.

Tbf I barely remember Glass or Berube.

Like KFC and his guaranteed turd laying upcoming off-season I imagine for you the books on Gajan and Commesso have already been written and they are sure fire sieves.

We did have that season under Colliton where there was no goaltending to be found. Probably the most unwatchable team since the Dollar Bill days.

No, but when will they become bona fide NHL goalies? Best case Commesso 2 years ? Gajan 5 ?

And where has it been written that either are going to be competent NHL goaltenders?

I didn't count him, he was developed in the KHL. Berube I think has been in just about every NHL system in his career. I remember he was going to be the next Islander great backstop too.

One thing to remember, with all of the draft capital and prospects KFC has stockpiled he has the option and ability to trade for a goalie or possibly find one in free agency.

Nowhere. Just like it hasn't been written anywhere that KFC is going to sign a couple more Tyler Johnson's to replace the current one or add a few more Ryan Donato's to round out the top and bottom 6, but according to you that's precisely who and what he's targeting.

Nonsense. Little Nappy is only interested in accumulating top 3 draft capital for the next 5 or so years. Only then will he consider adding a competent goaler. RF

Why not just sign Mrazek for a couple of years, then get a draft choice that you will have to give up to trade for a goalie later? When do you try and build a little stability in your organization?

Good goaltending is essential to a winning team, however your defense can make your goaltending look better or worse than it actually is. Go look at the Leafs and Oilers defensive roster, without a doubt a below average group. The Hawks are building a good defensive unit, which should end up with two or three shutdown defensemen, like Allan, Del Mastro and Vlasic for starters. KD’s rebuild will be helped by the young defensemen that Bowman drafted. Other than hopefully finding a good young RD, KD can focus on the group up front, which will facilitate the climb up in the standings in the next few years.

And your goaltender can make your defense look better or worse than your defense is. I think the Hawks tandem of Mrazek and Soderblom are exhibit A in that regard.

I hear what you’re saying but with Mrazek’s history of injuries, inconsistent play and the fact he’s in his last year of his contract I’m skeptical he’s the guy you build stability with. I’m surprised you’d peg him as a future piece. Besides if he’s moved out the Hawks have the option of signing him as a free agent in the summer. If a team makes an offer that can’t be refused, you have to make the deal.

World class shot beats a world class goalie. Very nice......... WPG PBP guy says Hawks have an 18 and 19 yr old on the ice moments before the goal. Never mind KK was trying to get off after a 2:10 shift!!

The Hawks set the tone with dogged checking and physicality all the way through.
(I loved early on when that Korchinski wash up used his strength to really check their #55 to the wall.)

Exactly. KFC signed Hall who got injured and all you hear is the pissing and moaning about how the (frank) could he not know that that was bound to happen.

So let's say Davidson hitches his wagon to Mrazek and rewards him with a 2-3 year deal to be his #1 while some of the yutes marinate. How's all that going to fly with certain posters when Mrazek inevitably goes on IR for parts or all of a season?

The Jets outshot the Hawks almost 2 to 1, with most of the play in the Hawks end and the Jets having the majority of the puck possession. The win was the result of Mrazek standing on his head not as a result of the Hawk’s checking.

2 years. Frist of all at $4 mil. he helps you get to the cap floor, second who plays goalie next year? IMO if Mrazek is traded, he does not sign back here next year, he will look for a team that is at least a playoff contender.

Do you really want to go into next year with Soderblom and Samsanov or Murray? The only UFA goalie playing close to Mrazek is Talbot, and if LA does not resign him next year, someone other than the Hawks will.

All that for a probably #50 draft choice?

Got some great luck from the post gods too. That said. it could easily have been 4-1 early if Mrazek didn't withstand that onslaught in the first 15 minutes.
