Easy! Trade Hagel for two first round picks and two journeymen forwards. Trade away his top players at the draft for two first round picks. Use cap space in trade for other teams to move players. Tell Kane and Toews their services are no longer required. Don’t try to make the team better for two seasons and piss off a few fans while doing so. Am I missing anything?

The 5 years are going to suck, for sure. Last weekend i smoked a brisket, i have a side smoker used charcoal and hickory wood, i smoked it all day, wrapped in butcher paper in the evening put it in the oven until it reached a certain temp. Then i set the oven to 160 and let it cool slowly for 12 hours. Wrapped it in a towel put it in a cooler and served it the evening for dinner. It's the best brisket I've ever had until i have the next one. My point is you have to have patience in a rebuild its the only way it works. If you rush it, cough cough Ottawa you can really screw yourself.

But I am not against them signing Foligno for next year. He serves a purpose. hopefully they do not sign another Perry.

I am also for them signing Mrazek instead of getting a draft choice around #50. Hawks do not have anyone to replace him, unless you think Soderblom can put it together.

I don't see either of the above blocking anyone that deserves by their play of being on the roster.

I agree with all this. I hate that everyone tries to bundle the rebuild into absolutes, be flexible, be smart, always be improving from this point on is how I would try and define it

Soderblom should be back in the minors, this isn't the place to work on your game, and his game needs lots of work

I don't get the obsession with Petr Mrazek. The Hawks might need another vet goalie, but it doesn't really matter if it's Mrazek or a different goalie. Mrazek isn't that great. He wasn't even our best goalie last year, Stalock was better. Next year, if they feel they don't have anyone in the system ready to take the role, then they will find someone.

All some of us are saying is don't end up with two Soderbloms, it doesn't help the move forward.

Pretty hard to argue with Mrazek's play this year, not sure why its such a big deal for some to resign him to a 2 yr contract

Sure but the point is if you try to rush a brisket its going to taste like poop.

I don't disagree, but I am willing to be it won't be Nylander on the move. I really think they will more readily trade John Tavares then let Nylander walk.

Tinordi in over Crevier is just bizarre to me

If the Leafs don’t do much better in the playoffs they will have some big changes happening. There is no way they can overlook an average defense while five players take up over half the cap, again, can they?? If the Leafs don’t well one of their top players will be on a new team.

That’s one of the two issues for sure. I’m not a Tavares fan, he puts up points and is good at the dot, sucks at everything else. TBH, if it wasn’t for the NMC, I’d take him for a year, but the Leafs would have to add, no easy out.

Yeah, but it's doable. We've seen players with NMC moved before. Maybe it doesn't work out, but I bet they will move him or something else before Nylander. I wouldn't count on getting a chance to sign Nylander in Chicago.

Yeah that's rare. Usually a Home and Home series where each team hosts one. I can't remember a double road game against the same team.
