I agree about Mrazek but am told the draft choice is more valuable, and any goalie is acceptable for the next couple of years.

Kurashev deserved that goal tonite

- LAHawk

Mrazek has been good for like 30-40% of his time with the Hawks since they traded for him. It won't matter much if they keep him or go with a different vet.

Yeah, it doesn’t matter, the Hawks play such a shutdown defense.

Well John Scott won’t be broadcasting next year, he just said KD should go out and get players that can improve the team, and not one and 2 year rentals.

Most of us fans have played on a bad team growing up as kids whether recreational
Or in a league, high school college etc al.
It is difficult to put forth a great effort when you and or your team sucks. A coach can only motivate so much Sometimes a coach methodology to motivate and push players to exceed expectations does work. But nearly always on a short term basis

Even with a little bit of talent a coach will get tuned out. See Tortorello job history

Until we get more skill and a few more players who will play hard nosed we will be outplayed and beat. KD has a plan and it means we really suck for a while

I was hoping that Reichel steps up, C Dach arrives sooner rather than later and I hoped that Gutman and Soderstrom would contribute more. Others will step in but not the top prospects right away

Interesting comment 59 --- and you got me thinking. I've probably played on bad teams more often than on good teams (but have played on both). I guess there is a difference between a team with a poor record that is playing the right way - meaning in terms of feel -like what it feels like to play on that team, to be playing on a team with a poor record, and you can tell the players don't really care (or some don't) - -give you an example of the latter- was on a team -we were on the PP had control of the puck in the o zone pretty well ... and some idiot goes and takes a lazy stick penalty behind the opponent's net. Dude that did that was the captain of that team .. hell of an example that guy sent. We were down in that game and really needed something to lift us up - anything .. and that stupid stunt killed it dead.

On another team I was on (this one was over in KC -when the only indoor ice rink was King Louie under the bowling alley on Metcalf)- we were pretty bad - but I mean it was because our goalie was really keen to be a goalie -and he was basically the sponsor for the team. I mean he was REALLY keen - his enthusiasm was pretty infectious - he had a big heart. Dude made me laugh -he blamed his pads- and bought more pads several times. He was a firefighter. This is relevant because he also died in the line of duty within about 6-9 months after I'd last been on their team.

We got gifted a late registering player- I got to play on this guy's line - and I had been doing pretty meh before that - a goal and an assist through 6 games ...the next 6 I went 4 goals and 4 assists --- I mean we didn't win much - but it was a blast being there -because we were competitive to a degree, and were playing fundamentally soundly- we just weren't that great.

What I'm saying is - is that atmosphere is a big deal even on teams that suck -it is about how you are sucking that can make a big difference ... (which i guess is paraphrasing Beavis and Butthead ... 'it sucks.... but it's cool, because it sucks in a different way.').

---

Back to the Hawks -- I thought that they had divvied up the coaching duties - one was looking after the forwards, and forward schemes - and I thought LR was dealing with the defensemen and their schemes, etc.

---

I think maybe Bedard might have learned the wrong lesson from that 2 goal game against the Peg -- it seems like he learned what he was doing works -and was going to start working. So you might see some charging in amongst collapsing D. Yes sure - that was a pretty goal -and will go good on a highlight mashup ... but his minus 3 - that one was earned last night.

A lot of this ends up being how someone responds to adversity. I guess because adversity is all about the challenge.

Love the hatty by Marchment --- especially considering because basically he got it by having the puck bounce off of him or off of him, then off of Tinordi's skate. I wish I got that sort of luck -even in beer league. I guess even when I did - the refs missed it -and I never got credit ... got the bruising though.

The Bedard/Kurashev/Foligno line getting their butts kicked again, this has been going on for a few games, time to break up that line.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Kurashev has been one of the worst defensive players on the team.

When the season started the 3rd line was Perry-D!ckenson-Foligno and it was by far their best. Maybe Game 8-10 he broke the line up and back then I thought, hmmm. ....... He has 1 line he can depend on in all 3 zones and he breaks it up?

Looks like LR is a constant tinkerer, for better or worse.

His set of tinkertoys is missing a lot of pieces.

Interesting that the self appointed captain was giving his usual post game play the right way, and Troy Murray was calling out Foligno for puck watching.

Are you saying that he has a little Robin Lehner in him? By the way Tyler Johnson out for a bit, per LR. So no Hall, AA, T Johnson, Raddysh, or Perry, all the guys that were to help with scoring. Ouch!

Or, he was privy to organization thought and conversations.

The team know they are getting another quality prospect.

And that Bedard needs offensive options to line up with.

It becomes a matter of convincing ufa NHLers that building a team is what they are signing up to do, and they are all in for more than that big paycheck that will. be higher than market.
I also fully expect the team to act as 3rd team broker on a deal or so.
The question remains can they get a kid or so as payment, maybe ones the teams are ready to move on from.

To me, this team is built around hard play, engagement and return intimidation if needed.
I am not going to try and guess what is in the heads of the Colorado and Edmonton GMs heads in terms of how big of swings they take to load up for the long haul.
But if any team gets desperate and has 3rd party intervention to Cap a deal, the Blackhawks might get a young pro in an exchange.

Hawks have over $21 mil on IR. Add Corey Perry's $4 mil and they have 30% of the cap either on IR or waived.

Yeah, Mrazek back to leafs is plain silly...more likely Samsonov to Hawks so the Leafs get Cap room.

Just wondering why the guys looked so bad last night. Did someone get kicked off the team or did somebody's relative pass away?

Hahaha, maybe they had a new year's eve party before the game last night.
Mrazek really shut them down last night to, yea make sure we keep him

I hope this team isn't mentally scarred now because they weren't competitive

My guess is the team got spanked because the team is terrible, they have almost no talent, they can sometimes sneak up on an unsuspecting team but not not twice in two nights. I know these opinions aren’t as satisfying as twenty guys going into a funk over the death of someone they don’t know or phantom New Year’s Eve parties a day before new years or the diagnosis of mental scarring or whatever you dream up next, but I’m guessing I’m closer to being correct.
