So we can dream all we want what slot we get.

Instead of people imagining the draw outcome, I’d be more attuned to the rank 1-5 who you want and or think KD will draft. Which is kind of hard to say as it may depend who is selected ahead of our turn

So who do you want?

- jhawk59

1. Celebrini
2. Eiserman
3. Levshunov
4. Catton
5. Lindstrom

Looking for help at forward coming soon with this pick. Haven't really seen much of the Cat in the Hat (Lindstrom) so might move him up if I saw more - he will probably take an extra year though. Might consider trading down a few spots if I could get an unprotected #1 next year added in.

Assuming we get the Tampa pick:
1. Paracsak
2. Iginla
3. Yakemchuk
4. Buium
5. Hemming

Defense might be good value here and smooth out the pipeline. Paracsak moves well and is always around the puck; decent on D also. Popped up out of nowhere this year. Yakemchuk fits the type of D they are drafting; Buium is a little smaller. Like Iginla but probably ticketed for CGY.

Central Scouting mid-season rankings should be out soon, looking forward to seeing what they think.

In that case, just sign him to camp out in front of the net.

Zeev Buium, a LD, would have been mentioned in that trio of dee-men in terms of his play, except as you said, he isn't a big kid.

I think Hemming will go later then the rest and Terik Parascak in the late teens.
Buium can play though, and probably won't be around if that Tampa pick if they make the playoffs.
Let's talk later players and of the three you mentioned earmarked with the Tampa pick, I gotta feeling on potential Yakemchuk goes early teens (like 13), and and someone takes Iginla's kid maybe earlier than I expect in the teens too.

Yakemchuk has lots of giddy-up and has length.

The real outlier is where Adam Jiříček gets taken now that he is on IR for his knee surgery. (it happened while tussling with Terik Parascak.
(His older brother David had a knee injury with a tussle with Will Cuylle.)

If I am picking second, I wouldn't pass on Eiserman.

I am fairly certain this was all about not wanting to play for Torts.

I respect Keith Jones and Briere making nice and also being quiet as they attempted to get the best deal for the kid, the smart thing to do.

I am sure it was a tough trade to make because teams with young prospects (who haven't restricted their locations) that they are weary of trading and becoming excellent NHL players, but Ducks have a few meow young defenders with NHL calibre talent, so they WERE willing.

I just heard on Chiclets that the kids dad played for Philly and got screwed around about 20 years ago.

So it’s because of his Dad’s hard feeling towards the Flyers, or Kevin Hayes advised him not to play for the Flyers, or it was because Torts is the coach, or it was because the Flyers didn’t offer him a spot on the team late last season because they were having cap problems and it upset Gauthier. Lots of speculation but he’s going to have the media down his throat and he’ll be Persona non grata in Philadelphia. Apparently Kevin Hayes has had death threats because of it.

I'd think up a little injury just before I got to Philly if I was that kid.

Yeah but he’s got to go there sometime and the Flyer fans won’t let it go for his whole career.

Can’t imagine how an offensive, offense first, smallish, young defenseman can endear himself to Torts?

I fear the Hawks drafting #3 and selecting Lindstrom.

The last time the Hawks used the third overall pick to draft a 6’ 4” prospect from Medicine Hat it didn’t work out too well.

Top 5 picks miss. It happens, but if I'm gonna miss I'm ok doing so on a guy with a package of +size, +skill, +skating, +motor, plays a 2 way game and plays center. ....... If nothing else you're probably getting a guy with a high floor and if it hits you have a top 3 difference maker.

Another lawsuit by a different member of the Black Aces regarding being assaulted by Aldrich. You mean this wasn't uncovered during the Beach investigation, or did the Hawks think this was never going to come up?

I’m not a scout, just a fan, and from the clips that I have seen, I’ll take him. He can play wing on Bedard’s line, then move to center later on. I’m wondering if anyone has seen him play live? Darth?

Going into the season my motto was develop and do no harm. I was ok with KK going back to jrs or not, same with Kaiser or Phillips in the Bigs or AHL, ok with trying Riechel at 2C, ok with however they see a fit with Katchouk or Guttman, ok with a rookie Dman on each pairing, ok with anything just do no harm developing.

I'm pretty much confused now. Sure, injuries have a lot to do with it, but the handling of Reichel, Katchouk, Guttman happened before injuries. What they're doing with Phillips now I do not understand. The D pairings were consistent up until recently.

The most valuable thing in hockey is NHL ice time. Developing prospects is essential to every team I can remember except LVG and they had the advantage of an expansion draft. The ability to be allowed to see thru a total tear down, and is accepted throughout an organIzation, is a real advantage.

I defer to the people who draw an NHL paycheck, understand nothing is linear, understand there are bumps in the road but I'm becoming more and more confused.

Appeasement has it's downsides. Chicagoans are famous for boarding a CTA bus just after a crash....

WHATTT?

Then don't read them Dikhead

I will say it again --> Verbeek didn't call PHILLY
Philly called everybody until they found a young defender on the market.

What IS beyond my grasp is how you cannot see that Verbeek didn't become a genius GM that you implied for "cutting bait on youngsters before everyone knows they stink.." HE GOT a big scoring forward that wouldn't sign with Flyers.

Not any of what your curmudgeon butt said above. You wanna be a know it all fine, but reality was not ion your grasp on this one.
