Which other stellar pair should be out there? They’re all struggling (not to mention McDavid embarrasses even the best defensemen in the league). The fact they are within a goal of one of the highest scoring teams in the league is a the win tonight
- Chunk

I guess they already have written Phillips off then. Thought this was also a development year.

Anybody with Vlasic, that’s their best pair.

I’m already on record as saying he’s the next Ian Mitchell. He may be decent, but I think they are done with him.

Is Zaitsev really our best RD? Does that make you puke?
- Ztra

Their best RD is working his way back from injury. I actually think Murphy has played as well as can be expected at this point.

The latest on Cutter Gauthier trade:

It looks like the kid is saying he asked the Flyers if he could turn pro (and forgo going to Boston College for his sophomore year.)

He was told the team could not do it financially and that he should wait and go back.

(Now I realize to sign him, he plays in college, for the Flyers and not in the AHL just yet.)
The Flyers didn't say this or I would assume didn't want to have to promise a spot to him.
Maybe that was what they really meant.

Anyway, THAT is not being said, and now the kid's complete refusal to talk anymore to them is the issue with the Flyers.

I don't own a time share because I could withstand the "pitch" and I see no reason why the kid had to meet face to face with them.
Maybe he should have just talked to them on then phone.

Murphy has been reliable this year playing with Korchinski and Vlasic, I’ll leave it there.

I guess I figure the haven't sent Phillips down so that is not giving up on him, as much as giving Enigma a chance to acclimate.

Could he be nicked up?
Will a litte R & R help?

I don't have answers except that they HAVE to hit on their picks before adding impact players from the outside.
I cannot help but think the team is buying in, and there is positivity in the matches, if not victories.
A lot of NHL players have started in opportunities to play on expansion clubs and became decent NHL journeymen, as all teams seem to have many of 'um.

Maybe, but you already know what Tinordi is. His best games are when he is in the press box usually because of an injury.

It wasn't long after Savard had Koci on the ice at home against Sakic that he got fired. Why is Tinordi on the ice against McDavid?
- stevefrmglencoe

LR has Vlasic out every time he can v McDavid. Watching that is just fun. McD tried that same 360 move on Vlasic in EDM and Vlasic turned and matched McD's feet and hands.. Watch Vlasic in the 3rd. Kid hangs with McD.

Makes sense, if they put Tinordi on waivers to send him down they may lose him.

Think you get something at the trade deadline? Or is the GM going to sign him again for leadership?

I’m sure some team would take him alone or in a package. I think next year they have to start developing leadership internally and start moving some veteran players out.

I didn’t even notice Nurse tonight. He’s the Oilers Seth Jones, way overvalued on a bad contract for years.

Thus far I like Pitlik a little better than Beauviier. Obviously small sample size, but he goes to the front of the net when he should. Baby steps.

Hyman and Draisaitl have 44 goals combined this year, entire Hawk forward group has scored 47.

Damn, that as fun. My memory is poor but I think this was their best game of te yr. I'm sure EDM was looking past the Hawks but to old those offenive freaks to 15 SOG is fantastic........ At one point they mentioned Hawks had 51 shots towards the net to EDM's 39.

This is as long as Kurashev has been consistent in his time with the club. For a bunch of games recently he's all over the place in all 3 zones, nose over the puck, engaging, getting dangerous.

No doubt Bedard is their best most dangerous player but he's 18 and figuring it out. Without him, and running everything thru him, looking for him for all their offense they're moving it around, head up, getting connected, feet moving. Two PP's were excellent by any measure as was the 6 on 5 with the goalie pulled.

Combine all that with the hunger they're a damn fun watch.

Vlasic can now take any minutes. Kid is so poised and just keeps getting better. A fantastic foundation of 6frt 6in with sweet feet allows the kid to shadow the greatest skater to ever play.

They certainly played with a real sense of urgency tonight.
