I’d like to point out how impressed I was with Kurashev in the last two minutes against Edmonton on Tuesday. He laid it all out there, and I’d love to see him get more time with this level of play. A great example for the other young forwards to follow.

Me to he played like a pro and acted more a NHler player than he has never shown. Great effort and heart.

So DelMastro is Rockford’s all star representative.
Interesting to say the least. Evokes idea who might be ready soonest among the prospects?

Hi Folks been away for awhile! had some trouble with my computer and this site would crash hope that all behind me now .
So sad seeing Bedard going down kind of like McDAVID In his rookie year . Anyway I really don't like the ASG put who will replace him .I like to see someone other then Jones .Maybe someone like Reichel Korchinski .Mrazek may be a decent choice also. Or just for fun to throw a big F.U. too the league send Tinordi .Oh well nice to read all the post and hope I can stick around .GO HAWKS !!!

Somebody in the press that follows the Blackhawks should be asking the GM and Coach for an explanation as to what their roster strategy actally is, especially for the D.

Murphy (31). Megna (31), Tinordi (32), Zaitsev (33) are now dressng every night. Jones is 29. And 4 younger D are RFA's at season end - Phillips, Roos, Crevier, Vlasic.

The naked eye could conclude that there isn't all that much development stuff going on at all, rather they are just trying to ice a team that doesn't get embarassed on the scoreboard every night.

I don't know if I went into the season in a lazy way. I thought, and very much liked, LR has 1,400 NHL games as a Dman and that if anyone could handle and understand young Dmen he's the one. I still think that although like most I question some of his lineups........

As long as a guy like Phillips is told why he's sitting, being communicated with and coached, that's all that matters.

I do think sometimes LR has got to be thinking I'm tired of losing and ices his best lineup regardless of development. I think we see that in him playing Mrazak in consecutive games right now. Soderblom has been acceptable his last 3 starts yet LR runs Mrazak out there instead of rotating starts like he did to start the yr.

But, as far as the rookie Dmen I trust LR knows how to handle them whether or not I understand it.

Kurashev is shaping up to be one who has taken advantage of his top 6 slotting and PP time. We've all seen flashes from him and we've seen him disappear for long stretches, so we know the skill is in there.

We're starting to see consistent solid play, play where he's the most noticeable Hawk on the ice for long stretches where his work rate is really high in all 3 zones..... He's figuring it out and it's wonderful to see and watch.

And, like My Guy Dobber has shown thru his research prospects take a jump about game 250 for players who are not big, big players take longer. Kurashev is at game 225 right now and we can see the jump in his game.

And looking at Kurashez's page at Dodder he's clippin along at .68 ppg and that equates to a 55 pt pace on the season. Not too bad for a 4th rd pick on a really bad squad. https://frozenpool.dobber.../players/philipp-kurashev

Couldn’t it be something as simple as the coaching staff is asking him to play a certain style of game and he isn’t bringing it? There isn’t a really physical younger defender who have had stints in the NHL, by all accounts Allan and Del Mastro are pretty physical. Vlasic has shown some physicality but he has too many other upsides to his game that are more important. Korchinski isn’t physical at all but considering his age and weight that may come, Crevier hasn’t shown he’s that way inclined and Kaiser, despite his willingness just doesn’t have the bulk to play that game. Maybe the coaches are looking for more a physical game, some meanness along the boards and in front of the net? Without an aspect to his game that separates him, Phillips is just a guy amongst the other young Hawk defenders. I’d bet if he can show more toughness, a more in your face physical game, be mean in front of the net that he’d be able to nail down a spot.
