Ok boys, take away the center of the ice, let em beat you wide but nothin between the dots, we know they like to go low to high, Ehlers likes to drive the middle take that away with flooding the neutral zone, Morrisey likes to carry wide and look for a trailer, they like to look weak side, nobody below the puck so we can keep the forward and D gaps tight, no clears thru the middle use the wall/glass, drop back with 4 across the blueline, when they pull the goalie we wanna take away Morrisey's left side of the ice with our center, we wanna play a passive box, we wanna play an aggressive box and pressure the points, if they get one cross ice down low we wanna send that Dman to the puck and the center takes his vacated spot in the slot, and on and on and on?

Nothing? No strategy to talk over? Nothing that the film showed WPG likes to do? Nothing that they like to do a,b and c but Schiefele is out so they won't do that but watch for Ehlers looking to draw Dmen and feed? If they pull the goalie we wanna approach it this way?

Nothing? Nothing to strategize, talk over, watch out for?

- Mr Ricochet

Hey Rico. I'm sure that would have been very useful to tell them. I'm also on board with saying that LR SHOULD have done that.

My point was that I don't think it would have made much of a difference due to the talent on the ice. How many times did we see the Hawks do the exact same thing in 2013 and 2015 to lesser teams. Kinda hang around for most of the game, then "oh crap, it's the 3rd period. We should probably win this game".

I probably should have phrased it "Would it have ended in a different result?"

So…punt on him?

I agree was wondering what he was waiting for but I think you’re watching a guy who is still struggling to find his confidence.

It’s a coachable moment and yes I’d like to see him shoot more too. Say it again…he’s 21 and I don’t think it’s a damnable moment where you decide to move on.

You’re complaining about not developing the yutes and also complaining when one of them doesn’t take a shot in the waning moments. Suppose you can have it both ways but you shouldn’t.

- HawkintheD

I wasn't commenting on punting him, I was commenting on whether or not he will be a cornerstone. I don't remember saying the Hawks should get rid of him, did I?

Pronman just tweeted this list

NHL Central Scouting mid term rankings for the 2024 draft

NA

1. Celebrini
2. Levshunov
3. Lindstrom
4. Buium
5. Connelly
6. Yakemchuk
7. Richardinson
8. Eiserman
INT
1. Helenius
2. Silayev
3. Demidov
4. Jiricek
5. Hemming

Interesting that Eiserman has dropped that much. Also,no Catton? According to this list, the Blackhawks might be able to grab Catton with the Tampa pick, depending on where it ends up

- captainserious

I've been liking Helenius's game the more I've looked into it. Pretty solid kid.

Eh, I dunno that Reichel has shown anything significantly better to say his ceiling is anything but a third line fast winger.

Guys that score 20 goals their rookie year generally are pretty skilled.

Until yesterday it had been a long time, if ever really, that I looked up Pinto's stats. Didn't realize the kid hits at about a pt per game at every stop and until you mentioned it didn't realize he scored 20 his rookie season.

So, I went to his Dobber page expecting a high unsustainable shot percentage. Nope, his shot percentage last yr was a very sustainable 12.7%. Also noticed Pinto was 52% at the dot, most common mates were Dcat and Batherson and they had 52 SF% and a 51CF%.

Whole bunch to like here. A legit NHL center with size at 23 yrs old. Something the Hawks do not have in their system. Very good traditional and fancy stats and all sustainable........ I do a Pinto for Reichel.

Fatty, you might like Dobber's player pages. Quick one touch looks at most any stat you need and the fancies are condensed but helpful. Look under prospect upside/certainty and you'll see links to fancies, line combos, player news, game log. Helpful and quick. https://frozenpool.dobber...s.com/players/shane-pinto

Helenius is really skilled and looks to have a bunch of IQ too. Long way to go but he just might climb the charts as the draft comes closer. .... Indeed, kid passes the eye test for sure.

If Zegras is truly available, what would the Hawks have to give up, and is it even advisable? I see he was having a down year before this ankle injury that will keep him out for 6-8 weeks.

Angotti’s boy Lindstrom is storming up many draft lists.

He’s not my guy, I thought he was your guy. One thing is for sure, I’ll take him. He looks like a stud on film, anyone see him play live?

The lack of tolerance for the rebuild (including by some who say they are okay with it) has now manifested in the Luke sucks posts. This is right after the angry tanking posts (which often ignore that a bad lineup became horrid when injuries and booze intervened). The BOD says the roster sucks, but the coach sucks because he can't make them winners. I love this place.

If a kid makes a mistake, it's because the coach is bad. I read it here, Chief.

I have perhaps a trivial but useful idea which the bloggers may like. When referring to EITHER Richardson, use abbreviation R’son. Or at least spell out Richardinson. Silly not to type out this player’s name. If you refer to the head coach or the prospect on Pronman’s list, hopefully KD doesn’t draft him
If this is all a bunch of Malay I, hope you have sime holiday cheer leftover ho ho ho

So because we are Hawk fan's we have to automatically be OK with how the GM is going about the rebuild ? I guess next comes the suspension for not having a conforming view?

Glad that the list is out!

Just remember that the NHL scouting staff's rarely adhere to this list as gospel, and is a consensus of all the retired NHL players now scouting for them.

I will say this: EVERY NHL team needs at least ONE big defense-first defenseman with offensive in his game, and if that is what you think is your need London's LD Jason Richardinson IS the closest to ready to step in and do that for a team.

I am trying to look at this as a Hawk fan, and that we end up selecting 4-6....

I stand by my list over theirs:

https://www.lines.com/nhl/drafts

You will see speed and size always as their priority, and the fact that they some are farther away projects counts less in their top ten. (Go back and look at their previous years and see.)

I do want to comment on this and then go back to a day of re-watching the World Juniors to see what I missed:

I love Trevor Connelly because he is fast in everything he does. He is from Anaheim. I had him in my top ten since summer. But he is SO light!

Cole Eiserman is a gun at this point. He can skate with jump but there are things in his edge work and positioning but he is a bull out there; the shot is precise and will be difficult for NHL goalies.

Even though Canadien Cayden Lindstrom is second on my board, he is a hot and cold paced player, and I love the size but not sure he walks in the locker as a dominant piece when all is said and done.

Yakemchuk is a potentially strong candidate as an NHL defender because despite his great skating and ability to go to the opposition net, defensively, he relies on his feet and not much defensive acumen is in place.
In the past many junior defenders selected early fail, but usually because they don't have NHL feet. He does.
There is plenty is potential

I am not saying Zee Buim won't be somewhere between Ian MITCHELL and Cale MAKAR, but he is a not gonna leverage attackers - Korchinski has the size to handle that aspect eventually, he is that one offensive man (ala Drysdale) that a team CAN carry...

I have him at #14 based solely on that. I am not a gambler, but it would be a good bet if Vegas lest you bet he won't go top 8. Book it

Re: Levshunov
YOUR scouts BETTER be sure if you pick him a 2-4.
I am not being negative, but I want a forward, and I am not sure form what I see.

Helenius is still a head scratcher...he has smarts ability and is on my board at #9.

I am not sure he has proven he goes earlier.

Hemming had size a shot, some grit, but is less of a transporter or skater.

Gotta go and WORK (hockey watching) - whatta life!

I am OK with that. Here is a question. Most assumed the captaincy would go to Bedard next year (ala Toews). It can be stated that Foligno is the de-facto captain. So, do you give Bedard the captaincy, or Foligno,, especially since he will be with the team for 2 more years.

Roos is done on this team after this year. They don't care about him at all. He'll either be traded or not resigned.

Blackhawks announce that Filigno sings two year extension $4.5 per
Maybe his broken finger in other hand

Maybe too soon to claim some of the prospects are broken down as just falling short of NHL grade

Phillips may finally get it oh in a few years?
