Korchinski is a "plug."
- wiz1901

It is so easy to use terms like plug, woke, etc., instead of enjoying your choice of entertainment without attempting another one sentence teaching moment. I guess my abbreviation of head wasn't incoherent.

Name calling is a sign of ignorance.

The .. er ... next promotion is ... come to the game ... if the shootout goes for long enough ... we start calling out seat numbers to have a chance.

---

Chelsea Dagger probably should be retired as part of the last era of Hawks' hockey -but rather something else. Retirement could be like a funeral for the Ghost of Bandwagoners past. . .

I'd go with the intro to Back in Black - but that's just me... a bit of (future repetitive Akka Dakka at the UC...) OTOH I used to love it when Nancy Faust would play Iron Man on the big organ at the Stadium...

Hair of the Dog by Nazareth might not be bad -but probably too short of an intro.

I guess Godzilla by BoC might be ok too. Or ... Don't Fear the Reaper (get the cowbell thing going)...

- SC116

Nah. I like BoC but those are overplayed. Intro to Me262 or Mississippi Queen by Mountain or Highway Star by Deep Purple. Studio version.

The Hawks are at 44 million in payroll next year with the two extensions and need to get to 61. They gotta spend money on someone.

Hawks getting dominated by the Sharks is a good look for the "culture"

Also getting manhandled in every board battle. Seth Jones is just plain bad at hockey. IDGAF how many minutes dumb coaches play him.

- Elbows15

The hawks do have a worse roster than the Sharks do at this point.

You can be winning and still be dominated.
- LFS

Sure, but as long as the shoot still in place, you just have to hadn't around and tie.

No doubt, as they were smart and much worse (no players like "cat, Kane and Dach to discard and try dearly draft do-overs.

The traded for Thrun, started adding and on the job training and being and BEFORE us.

Not sure this has been discussed but one unintended positive from the lack of Hawk scoring is that Chelsea Dagger isn't played so often.

I don't mind it but some people seem to be more than a bit miffed that that's the Hawk goal song...so there's that.

- HawkintheD

Yep, of all things to be kept from the last administration it would have to be that song.

And much will be in-house signings.

There will 3rd party brokerage where they carry other team's salaries for picks.

I doubt they wouldn't jump at the chance to sign a strong complimentary offensive piece like they did Taylor Hall if someone wants to play here.

I am sure they find good use of that 17 million.

Mrazek 4.5M
Vlasic on a bridge 3M? or longer term 6M?

Probably sign a couple 2nd tier free agents like Wennberg, Roslovic, Mantha at 3-4M.

Maybe take on a cap dump with a sweetener.

Several RFA'S re-upping at around 1M.

I like the idea of playing Korchinski on the penalty kill. No better way for him to learn to play defensively. And he looked pretty good.

Kurashev is playing really hard tonight.

- paulr

I noticed that as well.
I also noticed the hustle of some guys to spring a 2 on 1 a few times. But they come straight in, they don't make the D man or goalie move laterally at all, rarely if ever hit the weak side guy with a pass, and the hit the goalies crest with the puck. One of the things I like best about Bedard is he tries to make the D man move to get a pass off to the weak side guy. And if it's just not there he changes the angle and uses the D man as a screen. #43 was skating hard but was one of the least dangerous guys out there. Vosters said the guy went to Harvard but he didn't look so smart to me. At least they are more watchable this year for the most part.

Would love to see them lock Vlasic up long-term. He has been outstanding and only looks to be getting better. Pay him, keep him in Chicago for the long haul, and bury future extension discussions now so they can focus elsewhere!

Are people really hating on Korchinski?

Some.

Some are disappointed that a kid was
let walk in and guaranteed playing time, and
he is not a Phil Russell, not Cole Makar, and his strength from the get- go was as a very fast mailman with passing ability, and not a giant bomb of a shot that is his skill highlight.

If the initial thoughts a poster comes to transmit is Korbustsky, I guess they are in a place that the rest of us are not.

And if the can lock Vlasic uplink term now, they should.

I said the exact same thing last night (and have said it many time before).

Just because he gets lots of minutes, doesn't equate to "he is good". Is he better than Tinordi or Zaitsev? sure. Is he 8 times better than Tinordi or twice as good as Zaitsev....not even close. What exactly is the strength of his game? No defense, not offense.

At the game last night they posted a stat on the scoreboard about "Defensive Zone Time" and Jones was the leader, by a decent margin. I commented that your supposed #1 D-man should be able to get the puck OUT of the D-zone, not spend the most time there.

Hawks win!!! Wow what a shootout. 9 rounds is what happens when you have two teams devoid of talent. Imagine if they had gone through all 20 players?
- Popsghostly

It would've only taken 7 rounds if they hadn't used goalies.

I decided i had to go see the best odds for Celebrini bowl last night live.

Vlasic was the only player last night on both teams that stood out. 1st year in the league and he's playing like he is. His ability to read plays before they happened was so nice to see since our great dmen have retired.

I have a feeling Korchinski if he cares and continues to work on his defense is going to be a really really good player. His skating backwards forwards backwards again is going to keep him in defensive position more times than not, it's effortless. His ability to skate in tight spaces is probably why he doesn't take many big hits, very quick very shifty, and i can't wait for him to get comfortable playing defense so his offense improves.

I'm not necessarily defending Jones here, but how many times after they get the puck out of the zone is it immediately turned over and come right back in. They basically don't have any forwards that can make a controlled entrance into the offensive zone and keep the puck. This is why they don't generate any SOG and are buried every night.

Yes, some of that falls on the D-men, but a lot of it falls on the forwards (or lack thereof).

It's to pad the salary cap. Many would have to believe this is to buy a window for the next 2 years by stuffing the roster with some players that may be a bit overpaid in there salary. I imagine Jason Deckenson isn't worth 4M+ annually, but it helps the hawks eat up some cap space the next 2 years. As many have mentioned the team is a skeleton and a dumpster fire for now. I imagine this is a telling story of when Kyle is assuming the hawks will be relevant again and all the guys who are overpaid or not in the core of the team will be gone by FA or traded.

They should have quit doing that song this year. Everyone from that era is now gone and they have a new face of the franchise. It was the perfect time to make a change.

I agree completely. Chelsea Dagger has to go away. Replace it with a new original song or an existing song excerpt from a CHICAGO band.
I personally would love to see them go with something from Loud Lucy or Cheap Trick or Smashing Pumpkins
