It was nice that he took the puck to the middle of the ice and used them as a screen before shooting. One thing I find our D don't do, is take the puck to the middle before trying a shot. Even if you are out a bit deeper than the circles, it's still a higher % scoring area than being towards the boards.

True I think I was only meaning that was the type of shot that had regularly been passed up and simply never taken by a lot of guys.

Has there been any word on who Bedards replacement will be at the A S Game?

Maybe someone who is not really an All Star?
Does replacement need to be a forward? With the lineup for the skill competition, there may be a desire to have a certain number of forwards and defensemen

Replacement candidates based on merit irregardless of position aka who isn’t an average or below average player on the team THIS SEASON: Murphy, Vlasic, Richardinsin, Mrazek.

Well well how about this: auto correct changes the spelling to Richardson. If I edit and submit correct spelling then it changes to Richardson

Pretty cool back story to prospect Zayne Parekh, who Wiz has rated at #14.

Parekh's defensive play has a lot to be desired, but he is an offensive machine as a D man. I was hoping TB would miss the playoffs and fall to the 14-15 slot so we could draft him. But the Lightning have been playing well lately and I don't see that happening.

Who cares? Even if the Hawks get him with Tampa’s pick he won’t be here til 2030.

I wasn’t necessarily suggesting the Hawks draft Parekh as much as sharing the story. Except on TV I haven’t seen Saginaw play this season and wasn’t really focused on him. I just thought it was a cool story.

That was always a point I'd try to make with kids that I coached over the years. The net is always 4' high, but the width varies depending where the shot is taken. I also used to tell the kids who had accurate shots to shoot at a butterfly goalie from the goal line and bank it in off the goalie's shoulder or mask as the short side high is always open.

Colin Blackwell is just going every shift. Confidence and determination. 30 year old is playing his best hockey I've seen in his career. You like to see it because his effort helps his teammates raise their game a bit too.

And just like Dots just said, Blackwell finally made a pass on a 2 on 1 play.

Look at comparables for Vlasics contract, between 3.5 to 4.5 per, yea i would do a long term deal with this kid if we are talking 4 to 4.5 per, he gets to stay home and has financial security.

If KD does draft him hopefully he asks Elbows first.

Oliver Moore (CHI) since the World Juniors: 5GP, 1G, 7A, 8PTS, +7, 16SOG

Now up to 23 points in 24 games as a freshman, while shooting just 5.5 percent. #Blackhawks

in my old diehard opinion of all-stars the very idea of including a player from every team has been a grow the game move, so the six new expansion teams (1966-67...this seems like yesterday and the subsequent adding new team in pairs concept) can be given examples of what good players are / who on their team (as new fans) are.

Never liked it, but understand it.

I always felt it does disservice to all the excluded players who I saw as "better all-stars", closer to stars than the team desinated were.

I may be completely wrong in this next part but I always thought when the league had to substitute for that one guy they already designated, that they talked to the team management and agreed on the fill, not just league soles involved.

But I am over that concept of one all-star after John Scott was chosen by the fans as if they saw through the every one has an all-star idea.

You grow the game by adding new team is Utah, Houston, and another team in Canada, not by deciding which players on your team are "so great."

And if you don't know that D!ckenson is going, get your eyes on the actually games, people.

Me, I still prefer you all stinky teams with no dominant all around players go without representation, as that signals team management needs to make the situation better for the fans at home not in a non competitive fun time for one guy with his league colleagues.

Elbows will have a problem with a defender who isn’t good defensively.

As long as KFC drafts the player who's name you can most easily incorporate the word "bust" into everyone should be happy.

He isn’t. But he’s showing signs of improvement.

I haven’t really watched Parekh but it sounds like his defense isn’t great. But his offense sounds to be very good.

Yeah that one's tough. Glancing at who Wiz has going in the first round, there weren't a lot of names you could crowbar "bust" into.
