Breaking news: Corey Perry signs with Edmonton Oilers
How he keeps up with their speed game - well eventually he gets to front of net
I was guessing that Boston Florida or Toronto would try to sign him for playoffs |

I looked over the Edm Oilers strategy per Holland their GM
Noted: 1)Perry is an inexpensive pick who provides grit and net front presence can result in goals. 2). The Edm Oilers hockey buzz writer reports that the team during their 13 game winning streak has experienced good performance both on defense and in net 3) There may be difficulty with affordability per salary cap to fit veteran dman and or veteran goaltender, the Edmonton scribe adds.
That Holland might wind up putting E Kane on long term injury list is also brought into play ad this would free up salary per salary cap and another transaction might be possible
I know one cheap move Holland could make. I would not vote in favor of it from a Blackhawks point- of - view. I am presently torn on whether Phillips will become steady and a smarter player so really I prefer to play him NHL and keep coaching him up at the NHL level. He has a lot to like in his game. However if KD decides to part ways then he could take Broberg in exchange. Let Broberg get his confidance and game back in the AHL then down the road see if Broberg could fit in Chicago. Broberg was a first round choice btw and is on the outs due to confidance and they I say are afraid to play too many dmen weak defensively - Broberg needs playing time and a new team then he might improve |

Detroit is pretty much = Tampa Bay?
Although tonight Detroit won, the teams appear about equal although Tampa has playoff experience and proven goaltending.
Would not say Tampa beats Detroit in a playoff though they have as edge as indicated
Ironically teams from these two cities met in NFL playoff today and Detroit had a sweep in victories |

Nice to see Sammie Savoie skating with Bedard yesterday, and he was able to take shots
4 months after a real bad break of the femur, kind of amazing how fast they heel these days
Saw that LR said that he was about to be traded, so they kept him in Chicago for rehab, just thought is was interesting, as I would have assumed that any of their assets especially young ones they'd always have them in Chicago for surgeries and rehab.
But he implied that if he wasn't about to be traded, he would have done it with his jr club, made it sound like the rehab in Chicago was better and more 5 starish |

I have not scrutinized NHL rosters to determine what goaltenders may be available as the NHL trade deadline looms sort of on the not too distant horizon.
I realize that Minnesota had faltered lately and largely due to a myriad of injuries. Either starting goaltender could be available if something attractive is the bait. While Fluery may not want to pack up and move again, he is playing fairly well and is the premiere goaltender IF AVAILABLE. The Wild does have a very good prospect goalie who had a cup of coffee and I think is ready for the NHL
What caught my attentio, however, was how Ingram had taken over the net in Arizona. I thought Valijmaki was a pretty descent young netminder who had been the main man in net last year and as this season began
Now I do not know if maybe KD does not want to trade Mrazak right now. One more season with his sharing the net with Soderstrom may not be a bad option - in fact why not since Commesso probably could benefit with another season in the AHL. Trade deadline 2025 may be the better time to consider moving Mrazak
Also just wondering if maybe St Louis decides to make an offer for a goaltender as Binnington is paid a lot and is not much more than average. Maybe they cannot but draft or trade for a prospect because Binnington contract is too much along with an up and coming goaltender like Vajimalki
Oh yeah reportedly NJ Devils want to upgrade their young tandem but who knows if they will just stick with the youngsters they already are employing |

Yeah that one's tough. Glancing at who Wiz has going in the first round, there weren't a lot of names you could crowbar "bust" into.
Bustly Catton
Carter Yakembust
Konsta Helenibust
Cole Buston
Sacha Bustvert - HawkintheD

Apparently, so will Guttman. Foligno back and R. Johnson stays in.
Funny, the guy who shoots more than almost anyone, and the guy who refuses to shoot will be watching tonight. Maybe they can take some notes from each other.
Korchinski - Megna, Phillips - Crevier are the bottom two pairs. Tinordi out. |

Definitely ok with having players sit a game or two. Ideally, they learn something from observing. And nothing wrong with having them chomping at the bit to get back into the action. |

Indeed. I've got no problem with him sitting. I'd like for him to key on Blackwell for a while. He's got less talent, but takes every opportunity he has to take the puck to the net whether it is around or through a defender. |

Last month Cayden Lindstrom rose from almost obscurity to number two behind Macklin Celebrini. In some of the latest draft lists, including Bob McKenzie’s Anton Silayev has taken that number two position and Lindstrom has dropped to number five. I’m sure the names after the number one pick will flip flop until draft day. With the current and on going situation in Ukraine, the inability for scouts to see Russian players live and the KHL signing young guys I’d prefer the Hawks steer clear of Russian players at least in the first round and especially such a high pick. But like Lindstrom, Silayev appears to be another anomaly, a huge guy who has great skating ability and a decent skill set. |

Didn't someone say that Lindstrom got injured, or had surgery recently? Maybe why he dropped some? |

Interesting nugget that surprised me and probably others:
Since 2000, only 15 defensemen (ages 19 and under) have posted a higher points-per-game in the NCAA than Sam Rinzel. Pretty good company to be in.
12 assists in his last 5 games |

Yeah, last week it was announced he's out 4-6 weeks with an injury of some sort.

Don't worry. He'll be known as Rin Bustzel to some in a few years.
But I hope not. |

When KD selected Rinzel in the first round there was some thought Rinzel was a project who may have been selected too early. I watched him in the World Juniors and thought he looked really good. And his numbers seem to be improving. Hopefully that trajectory continues. |

If Dean can work on his defense when he turns pro, the Hawks will be in good shape. I already see improvement in KK’s defensive game from the start of the season, so that bodes well for the defensive unit’s future. |

Not sure why an injury, unless a major one, would affect a prospects draft rank? |

Indeed, I am. The Canucks have been playing very good hockey lately. This has the potential to be a very ugly game. |

This was a bit surprising: #16 is the only Blackhawk to dress for every game so far this season.
