2 assists in his last 8 games going back to 12/20. Why the slump? - DirtyDan
Don't know, he's playing C again maybe adjusting. |

This paragraph is as bad as the Sabres:
Now, General Manager Kevyn Adams must decide how he'll try to replace a top-six forward like Quinn, who also bolstered the team's penalty kill. The lower-body injury, which required surgery Monday, will keep Quinn out approximately eight weeks and occurred at a time when Buffalo was starting to gain momentum.
Why do the local writers try harder than the team to defend this garbage?

You'd think he'd come out blazing. Had a whole week between the Bronze and his first game back

This is just pessimism. Sorry.
And not adoring of Levi, just see what he will become. Remember, I'm the best judge of talent, the best scout, on this board.
Ullmark, Tage, Reinhart, Quinn, UPL, Dahlin, Peterka...the list goes onnnnn and onnnnnn. - QuinnFan

Also, pessimism was last March...now it's reality. They don't have it. |

Hope so, said it was a big thing he wanted to work on. If he wants to play C in the NHL he needs to be better there. If he adjusts and you decide not to extend Mitts, IMO he's your 3C next year. |

That's what I think, start getting ready for next year, get these kids some time on the big club so they can see where they stand and what things they need to work on for Camp next Year. Adams should really start trying to create his roster in someway starting know and through the TDL. Then you have a better picture of what needs to be done in the Offseason and FA. - Buff36

Adams is in a interesting situation here, he probably signed a extension or 2 a bit early. And the one player that actually has deserved a extension over the last 14 months is probably your Best Trade chip also, unless you are willing to move one of those long-term contracts. Kinda backed himself into a Corner, actually I don't think he's left the Corner since July 10th. - Buff36
It is very funny reading so many posts now that raise the issue of committing early.
Going back before extensions to Tage, Sammy, Cozens the beef on here was the fear that Adams would miss the opportunity to sign guys to reasonable contracts and therefore he would lose guys or have them on very expensive contracts by waiting too long.
He invested in his core by signing guys to early contracts that had great value through last season. The vast majority of poster were then signing his praises!
So, those players have suffered from a significant drop in production...now the complaints come about the value of the contracts.
It shouldn't be a knock on Adams, rather shared by the PlayersAND the Coaching Staff to live up to those contracts.
IMO of course. |

Do you think Adams is out looking for the end of the rainbow? Where is he hiding nowadays? - washedup20
He is talking with Pegula about the directly resulting from moving the Summer BBQ from the Cottage to the Yacht.
These conversations take time...lots and lots of planning for a move of that complexity. |

I'm sure he's having conversations.
(frank) you Kevyn, so am I, and they're just as (frank)ing useful to the Sabres as yours. - TheSabresTaco
He has his FO focused on the proper distribution of Carolina Sweet and KC Spicy Bourbon BBQ sauces. |

I think the Samuelsson and Power contracts could have been different, that's what I am saying. And how many Long-term contracts can you or should you sign. Blame goes everywhere from GM To player. It has failed everywhere |

I think we're in agreement that those guys aren't the issue. Takes a team to win nowadays, the times of one superstar hauling a team into the post season are gone. Crosby is having the best year of his career and Malkin is putting pucks in his own net right now.
Our very own Olli Jokinen never played in the playoffs despite being the second coming of the Great One. |

was it too early to lock up samuelsson, power and cozens?
seems 3 or 4 year bridges should have been an option for a few of them |

The last three guys to be bridged were Reinhart, Dahlin, Mitts.
All three will make considerably more than if they were given long term deals in the first place.
Power and Cozens will be some of the better value contracts in the league in 2 years.
Samulesson is the only one I’m worried about |

Good point, it does go both ways.
Eichel's 10M contract wasn't bad either. |

He is adjusting to expected Sabres production in the NHL. He has been following the play of some of the boys like Cozens, Krebs, Benson et all.
After another couple weeks of zeroes, he will be fully ready |

The best chance of not overpaying is to extend early.
Especially with most players peaking in their mid-to-late twenties offensively.
I’ll take giving money and term to Cozens and Power and soon Peterka/Quinn then the Dubois and Meier’s of the world.
I don’t envy the team that has to open the pocketbook for a 29 year old Reinhart either. That screams too many years and too much $$$ |
