It is KILLING them. - homiedclown
Damn! Would think they would have still gained a bit of ground instead of losing it in January. |

9-6-1 since that Columbus game so if anything the stats reflect they have been playing better hockey.
The special teams is the reason why they didn’t pick up an extra couple of points during that stretch. |

And all those stats lead to the Sabres losing ground in the wild card race....which is the only stat that matters.

While playing the easiest stretch of the season and handpicking the start date to paint it as bright as possible.

No it was their play from October to December 19th that did that.
Not the fact that they have played at a 97 point pace from mid December till now.

And they could have lost those games and played poorly in that stretch.
The numbers are the numbers.
Continue to play like a top 10 team at even strength and they’ll win a lot of hockey games the next few months.
Will it be enough to end the drought ? Time will tell.
Losing Quinn again is huge though |

flip side is it has been the softest schedule for the sabres and they got 9 wins since december 17th
at the same time the wings could end up with 12 wins during that same time frame if they win tonight
every team will have peaks and vallies
the sabres peaks are not very big, which is their problem |

They've played at an 82 point pace in Dec + January.
PP was 18.2% in January, PK was 87.9%. A net positive.
Hand picking one date to make their record look as good as possible and another to make their PP look as bad as possible just isn't honest. |

You can handpick a date range to make the Sharks look like a playoff team.

How about! They haven't done enough to make a push or make it matter. |

I do think their inability to get to OT is a good topic, but the answer is a lot deeper than their PP is bad.

the wings have won 3 or more games in a row 5 times already this season
we have won 2 games in a row 4 times this season and have yet to win 3 in a row
difference between playoff teams and a bottom feeder
hell the sharks won 2 in a row 4 times and they got 3 in a row once |

someone said he heard someone speculate that he may have broken a leg and out 2 months
others are worried about what bone was broke, based on this speculation |

"Yesterday, the fans found out. Lance Lysowski tweeted that Quinn underwent surgery and was going to be out approximately eight weeks. "
