They need to rebuild the organization...they need to hire a president, a gm and staff, a coach and staff, along with every other office/admin position.

They need a culture shock up in the suite's.

The organization needs to create an identity and see it through. They need to implement day to day regime the keeps everyone on and off the ice accountable.

Until that starts, the roster turnover will continue and opposing fans will keep Pegula's pockets full.

The only chance the team has is to strike lightning in a bottle (like last season) and squeak into the dance.

Until then.....memes

All of the above sounds like accountability.

What has shown you this organization can properly develop prospects....even more specifically young players in the NHL already? In addition, what has this organization shown you to believe they can build a competitive roster?

Time and time again, we see fresh faces come in with talent oozing out of them...only to regress into a clone of Bryson/Girgs.

Peterka and Quinn certainly have looked good. UPL has developed well. Casey and Tage made massive u-turns in their careers. There's plenty of examples of guys they did develop who are currently doing well.

Need to see them shape Power better and for Dylan to continue to climb out of the gutter, but if those two pan out, I think you can say it's been a few successful years of development, personally. But I see very few players get drafted here, bust out, then succeed elsewhere (Nylander and Risto come to mind, failed here and elsewhere).

Creating a competitive roster is another thing. I think we will either luck into it with some booms from prospects/young NHLers, or they'll have to fire Adams. He has no ability of acquiring good talent it seems.

The front office put the coach in place that brought all these players down, they don't get credit for the players coming back to form due to their incompetence.

They had a window of decent play last season, but none of the players you mentioned have outperformed on a consistent basis....ever. Spurts of decent play is not an acceptable form of measurement to determine development, it's a sign they still need development.

This organization and it's fans still have a losing season (last season) as the measuring stick for success....even though they lost. It's a backwards, broken, lost group (some fans included).

No. The context is, now you're fighting for your lives. At the start of the season, you can have a 5-5 month and not really bat an eye.

Now you're 10 points out because you're (frank)ing incompetent, but wait, let's translate that to "it's imperative to win now".

(frank) Terry with Kevyn's piece of poop Lexus.

To the bold, that is big time loser energy, acting like mediocrity is even remotely acceptable because it is early in a season.

Accountability has been a decade long failing of Sabres management.

Despite the drafting, we're still in need of great forwards. Time will tell if prospects turn into them, some are very promising still, but need more, agreed.

With defenders though, I really think RyJo is that guy. His play, while a small sample, has been very good. Don't you think you need 4 vs 3 though? It seems like the SC winners have a couple really strong pairings, then give scraps to the third pair.

Bet on means long term with max term or near max term deals.

You don't need to commit long term to more than 3 defensemen for multiple reasons, chief among them cap and roster flexibility.

It's why you don't commit so early to a near max term deal on a player like Samuelsson, as he is not a core piece.

For Dahlin and Skinner, I agree wholeheartedly. They basically hired Krueger, who ruined them, then got turned back around with Donny as he's at least semi-competent at developing players. I don't think you can say that for Quinn, Peterka, RyJo, UPL, Tage or Casey. None of them had any success at all at the NHL level until we got a chance to develop them. Outside Tage, none are world enders, but I don't think you can begrudge them on development in those instances.

It's a mixed bag tbh. The organization does suck. We have been losing forever. It's just not those particular players' faults and they did drag Tage/Casey out of the mud.

That's fair. Most good teams have 4, but it's frequently a revolving door for at least one of those spots.

Having heard this thing has been nagging him for almost 2 years, I have hope for Sammy post surgery...but agreed it was a poor gamble.

Quinn - is hurt more than not, that alone has stagnated his development. I don't see how you can use him as an example of development going the right way.

Peterka - he is having a good season, its for nothing as its happening during a tank year. How will this help his development for next season and beyond?

RyJo- he's a rookie that is being mismanaged...who delayed his signing to avoid the garbage organization for as long as possible...I'm still surprised he signed. What development plan do you see the organization using with him?

UPL - they are already planning on moving on from him....injuries and incompetence allowed him to take the net this year...if Levi played decent at least half the time the net would be his. How is that development?

Tage - due to mismanagement from having to trade your 1C, it forced Granato to put Tage at C and that worked out...I guess we can call that a development plan that worked...that is failing now after only 2 seasons.

Casey - what development plan was he on, what is his role to measure the development plan worked?

The organization relied on the players talent (they still do) without any support to ensure the players could reach their talent.

I put a 1/3 of the blame on the players as they accepted the easy path and are just cashing checks. This is on coaching, the GM and ownership.

Quinn - games played have value. It's cool that he has those stats....he isn't healthy to play to score those points.

Peterka - Weed, this isn't the first prospect to come in hot only to fade into oblivion as their career continues in Buffalo.

UPL - if you already forgot last half of the previous season...along with a summer of being sold on having a phenom in the system ready to take on #1 role, then I'll take what you're smoking:

For Quinn, can't blame injuries on the development strategy though.

Peterka, plenty of bad teams have players who excel. I don't see any reason to believe he's going to regress, seems like he's getting better and better, to me.

With RyJo, I agree he was mismanaged, but they're learning. A lot of talk about shipping out EJ, so he plays, which is prudent management.

They're looking to move on from UPL? Seemed like last season he got quite a bit of time before Levi showed up and stole the show. Personally, I haven't disliked his usage outside not giving him one or two of those games at the end of the year last season.

Casey went from zero to hero after he started working out. Getting that out of one of the laziest prospects we've ever drafted is worth giving credit to.

It isn't like this list is super long. They certainly didn't turn Savoie, Rosen, Ostlund, Poltapov or Kisakov into the forwards we thought they could be. Like I said, I think it's a mixed bag. They need to do better if they plan to be a purely draft/dev team, but let's not act like it's all doom and gloom. There are positives that indicate they can get players to the NHL level and make them into productive members of the team.
