It's not a small market? Is that even in question?
I don't know how once in a generation events come into play. Dan Dunleavy night is not selling the place out in 50 years. Even if it did, does it matter? - Lunaion

For the most part, UPL has been really good this year. Did anyone call it back in September?
Good for him. One of the few bright spots on this team. UPL, Peterka and Mitts have progressed. All the rest have gone backwards. |

So the rumor mill is heating up. Looks like the Pegula's are likely to sell the Sabres. Probably explains why were the only underachieving team this year not to get a new coach. Looks like ownership can't be bothered at this point. It's also looking like a chance they leave Buffalo.
While I know this is a rumor is definitely stirs my emotions. So many thoughts.
One one hand "Thank god", make the suffering end. I went to the game last night(my 2nd of the year, only went both time because my kids got a free ticket voucher). We all know the arena is a steaming pile but it's so much more than that. There is no vibe in the air. It's dead, it's over. We're like a corpse of a franchise just being dragged through a schedule going through the motions. It so pathetic how the blow the goal horn when they come out of the tunnel for warmups and to start each period. Like are you afraid it's going to seize from lack of use? And they just BLAST music at us through the PA like it's going to somehow do something. That game was over in 4 minutes like they usually are. Why am I having music just blasted at me at jet engine levels? I left halfway through the second.
On the other hand it's like "No, this can't be". The realization that Buffalo is not a profitable NHL market. Seems insane, but that's how it is now. It's just sad that one day it turned into "One before I die" to "It'll never happen".
Then of course anger at the Pegula's. Outside of their magical 2 month run to the playoffs in 2011, I've hated everything they've done. I've been a huge critic of theirs. They did just about everything wrong along the way and it's been infuriating. All that pomp and circumstance, ego stroking BS only to set the NHL record for longest playoff drought in NHL history and have the longest drought in North American Pro Sports and generally be one of the biggest embarrassments in the history of the league. Would the team be profitable had they not been such buffoons? Probably.
That being said overall this is just sad. At this point I wouldn't go back to a game with free tickets and free drinks. There's is just zero reason to trapped in that building for hockey. I feel like last night was my last Sabres game ever. Sad. - Buffalo--Sabres

I don’t buy the Sabres lose 30 mil a year.
Those books are cooked. - ImThatGuy
Let’s say each attendee is worth $110 after ticket and concessions on average. They have about 8,500 empty seats per game. 8,500 x $110 is $935,000 left on the table per game. X’s 41 games = $38,335,000. It’s very easy to imagine. |

JJ and Tuch were on for Cozens and Okposo for their PP goal.
An accidental combination was their best PP. - Lunaion
JJ was slinging that puck around last night. Made some really nice plays. Guys not just a shooter. |

Social degradation, bad diet, aversion to knowledge, bad genes that get passed on because Catholics think bringing an unwanted child conceived from a bottle of whiskey is better than a morning after pill or aborting an egg yolk that they are just fine with eating for breakfast every day, from Tim Hortons, with their double double and singular chocolate glazed timbit (just like the men you dream about in your brazen stupor). - Jet Jaguar BD

If all that happened were ticket sales, then sure I guess. Now do Jersey advertisements, TV advertisements, TV deals, merchandise, etc. etc..
The NHL shared recent this year is going to be over 5 billion.
The Year over year increase the NHl is seeing in advertisement is the biggest in all of the 4 sports at 21%. |

when the Buffalo Bills were bad people didn’t go to games except the home opener.
The Buffalo Bills are now good, people are paying more than ever to go to Buffalo Bills games.
The Buffalo bandits are one of the best teams in lacrosse every single year and they sell out pretty much every single game.

Tax loss versus cash - two totally separate measurements.

100%
But most people take that number at face value and think that the Sabres are losing $30-$40 million in cash each year.
If that was the case, the team would have folded by now |

You don't have to be good to make money in the NFL. Comparing them makes no sense.
