he makes a lot of money when he sells the team - homiedclown
But but. The team can’t even break even.
How in the world can the value be skyrocketing like this? |

Anyone buys the Sabres they’re buying a club that loses 30 million a year. The Bills and the Peg’s deep pockets have been covering the loses. No one that has that kind of money is looking at Buffalo as a viable market. Unless they happen to have even more hubris and delusions of grandeur that they could throw even more money at this mess and do better. I just don’t see it. - Buffalo--Sabres
From a cash flow perspective, maybe.
The value of the organization now is probably what, double what he paid for it ?
The whole narrative of him losing money is a farce. His goodwill is through the roof |

This is 1000% this the organization is close to $1 billion right now.
He will get 5 to 7 times more than he paid for it
That doesn’t happen with an organization that loses $30-$40 million a year.

None of this is true. I can promise you that.
They are absolutely incompetent, and that incompetence is why we are here.
-I'm not sure what you consider a carpet bagger/snake oil salesman, but I'd be interested in why you think Pegula is in this category
-They took a ton of advice from people they shouldn't have. This was extremely well documented, to the point where they trusted no one but Kevyn Adams. Hence, why he's the GM.
-They still have great interest in the Sabres. I can personally assure you of that.
They are incompetent and are much more hesitant to spend money than they used to be. Their own bad decisions, bad hirings/contracts plus lockdowns brought them to this point. Their staff and arena management has been atrocious. These things are objectively true. - TheSabresTaco
No idea what your personal connection to them is, but I go by the saying "pay attention to what people do, not what they say" and I think if we see TPegs not doing the arena upgrades that he said he was going to do, then we know he doesn't care. If he leaves the front office in place, then we know he doesn't care. I am still of the belief that he sells within a year or two. He has a money printing machine 20 minutes south he needs to focus on. How much longer can he show up at the NHL owners meetings without feeling embarrassed?

An accidental combination was their best PP. - Lunaion

It is not losing $30-40M a year, it’s just in a short fall of $30-40M a year from a cash flow perspective.
Terry will have to cover from his pocket in the meantime, but when he goes to sell, will rake in all of that plus more |

Terms from a prior sale to not relocate, rolling into a new sales contract is an interesting situation....depends on who has the better lawyers. Big boy money comes with big boy egos.
A hockey person can see the opportunity in Buffalo, a group of investors looking for the strongest ROI, bigger markets are enticing.
Money talks....I wouldn't put anything past Terry regarding the Sabres. - washedup20
I'd love to know what the recourse is if they were sold, then the new owner decided to relocate after a year or so of financial losses.
So, Golidano did the City of Buffalo a solid by inserting that language into the Sale Contract to Pegula.
Pegula sells to someone in good faith to keep the team in Buffalo.
New owner decided layer it is time to move.
Who is contesting the move, City of Buffalo, or some combination of local government entities? Pegula?
Is Golidano going to sue Pegula, who in return sues the new owner...all for "lost Revenue/Profits because each tool a lower price as a result having the no movement clause?
Do other NHL Team Owners get hard over the higher revenue potential in a larger market and grease the skids to enable the move?
I'd love to see this play out in a court of law. |

Just an assumption, but I'd think the NHL is a party in the deal, not just the owners.

All I know is what I said several months ago. I know someone who was directly involved in moving the Hamilton Bulldogs to Brantford.
They are doing millions in renovations, and as of the last time I talked to my guy, Andlauer doesn’t have anything from Hamilton saying they will be welcoming the team back.
Would be weird for the tax payer to fund millions of dollars in renovations for it to sit empty no ?

Increase the cost of tickets, internal budgets, win to get PO Revenue.
There are ways to trim the losses.
They have been focused on the Internal Budget method. Increase ticket prices by $10 each would cover half of it, but to do so they need to be a winning, competitive team...that makes the PO's and can get say 4 games at home. |

And you're right. I'd just be surprised if that number were $40 million this year.
During the pandemic, I think they legitimately took some heavy losses. No fans had to kill them.

He'll get a couple. I wanted to see him get 30+ this season.
They aren't setting themselves up well for next season if they don't get these guys meaningful time...unless they aren't part of the plan. - Lunaion
I said this back in October.
They are blocking prospects in a year that completely makes zero sense to do so...especially now. |
