Anyone actually believe that?
I don't. - kingcong39
I don't think there's a big gap between their top prospects, so I don't see any problem with him 1st today.

Ostlund looks good and is having a nice year, see how he adapts. And Savoie don't play there anymore. |

Sure, but a little silly not to have Savoie on the list at all.
Not that the list really matters much. |

The best prospects play the best at worlds isn't a crazy idea. - Lunaion
Sure, and I hope he brings that here with him. Also seen it go the other way, really good at WJ and then disappoints. Still think Kulich or Savoie are there best prospects, but that's because there playing here already. |

I take that back, Kevyn can't make voluntary player for player trades unless he's certain they won't see the light of day in the NHL |

Once you see it’s a Craig Button list it explains a lot |

I agree with this.
I think Ostlund has the best chance of sticking in the middle where Kulich and Savoie probably end up at the wing at the NHL level.
Ostlund is definitely the most polished defensively of the three also.
Still think Kulich and Savoie have the higher offensive ceilings.
All three look like solid picks at the moment though and that’s all you can hope for.

paid power and samuelsson too early
I do not see an issue with tage, cozens, dahlin or casey if casey is signed |

But they are signed, and as of now, none of them are great value. |

I've seen this player's name mentioned multiple times by Sabres fans as one to acquire.
He's a pending UFA, which makes trading for him dicey unless he plans on signing an extension with the Sabres.
Then there's the question of what his next deal would be.
One projection I saw had him at 4 years and $4.7M per.
I'm all for adding quality player's.
Does Novak fit, with him being a Center?

He sucks on the Dot, doesn't hit for a big boy. I wouldn't spend that on him. But he would fit right in with the Purse Carrying Crowd on the Sabres. |

Where do you see him playing, 3C, 4C?
His minutes show about 14:00 for last 2 seasons
Time and production this year show 3C.
He's another soft guy, getting sheltered minutes and not strong on the dot.
I would hope for someone to bring more, Sabres have plenty of those types IMO.

If your bringing in a complimentary piece, he has to bring more than Novak would for this Cap hit. |

Is he even a big boy?
How much more does Mittelstadt bring over Novak when you compare paying $7M per to $4.7M per? |

Same thoughts as you, gotta bring someone in who compliments what we already have. We need a few heavy guys. Joshua or Yakov Trenin are on my Offseason wish list. Might even see if I could get Trenin early and see I could sign him before FA. |

Casey is what 2 years younger, is already better defensively, is better offensively at this point already. I don't think either player deserves what there gonna get. But think Casey at this point, could be twice the player Novak is by the time he's 27. |

Agreed.
I don't think the proper comparison is to Mitts, as I hope the Sabres use his value to acquire a player at a position of higher need... Although, Casey brings a lot to the table over the past year, finally.
I think when looking at the bottom six they should be looking to incorporate players with different yet valuable skill sets that they are currently lacking on the roster and the pipeline.
I don't hate Novak, just doesn't fit the need IMO. |
