You just knew it would be Kane or Bedard in OT, of course no one told Seth Jones, he thought he was supposed to justify his contract in OT tonight........

Now he picks his time

- vabeachbear

So, when the 18 yr old is on the ice Dmen should staple themselves to the blueline cuz they know damn well the kid ain't gonna cover for them?

Yo Bedard, that's 2 of your guys in the paint trying to knock one home. That means you're the only guy in the building that can at least get back and be a pylon for a Wing on his way to Mrazak... Maybe it might be a good idea to check in on that guy from the other team, Kaner, ready to fly the zone at the blueline with you standing 20 ft from the net and your two mates in the crease.

That means nuttin between Kaner and Mrazak. He was 1:30 into his shift in OVERTIME so I could understand he had zero in the tank to you know, help, PREVENT a goal.

- Mr Ricochet

If i was a terrible shooting defenseman i would of passed it to the best goal scorer on the team, I'm thinking 4 years from now the Blackhawks will either buy him out or trade him.

Ya looked off a wide open Bedard. Kane was also going for a shift change. Not sure why Bedard would stay with him. Jones passes or pulls up and Kane gets off the ice and Hawks maybe have a 3 on 2

4 years? How about this off-season? With all of the revenue they've brought in this season, the least they could do is save their fan base from another season of Seth Jones and pony up for the buy out.

You rarely see three NHL players dumb enough to crash the net at the same time in OT.
- Dieselhead

There weren't 3 Hawks crashing the crease. Jones and Kurashev were diggin to slam it home in the crease while Bedard was 20 ft to the side of the net. Not sure what he was doing but since it was 1:30 into his shift in a 3 on 3 OT I'd guess was just trying to catch his breath.

Fitting ending. Poetic justice. Can’t complain.
- TommyHawk

No complaint

I mean, can you hear the echoe?

On a sentimental Sunday matinee Chellios and Kane were honored but the game itself was most about would Kane outperform Bedard

That is what the fans were here to see

So when Kane scored, there was silence at first then cheering arise up among the crowd. Did you catch the echoe before the cheering.

You could paint this picture with more examples of echoe. Blackhawks tried to step on Wings but a hard working team was defeated by a better skill team although it took OT. That there is an echoe of the season

It was a night for hockey lore and it hurt a little to loose the game but it is a warm feeling to see Kane continue to be a show stopper

Jones should have passed up the 3 ft shot from the crease, passed up feeding Kurashev at the post to slide er over to Bedard 15-20 ft away?

How many Beeeedard jerseys you got, Dots?

No, just that Jones took every shot.

Create space, give it to the guy who can score. Same thing i would of said anytime Kane was on the ice in OT when he was with the Hawks

they shouldn't have been out on the ice, after Bedard went to the bench to retrieve a stick, they should of changed players.

Cuz Bedard was the only person in the building to prevent a possible breakaway on account of both his mates were in the crease trying to slam in home?

Bedard definitely had a chance to change when the Hawks got the puck back. He probably was never coming off the ice on his own after last game when he never saw the ice in overtime when Richardenon started

If I was rocking a shooting % of 1. I would think of passing the puck to someone else. Especially after giving up a break after my previous 2 attempts at shooting.

But then, its no surprise. Jones is and has always been a LOW IQ player,

Yep, for the 144th time this season and 15 more seasons of 2:00 shifts. ... Each game I see the kid I lose hope he might enter Crosby's realm. ... The Pheeeenom is just 18 yrs old so he might decide to play in at least 2 zones.

He can learn at this level, I saw it. Couple shifts into his return from injury kid comes thru the neutral zone with speed, two layers of defenders in front of him and without thought a beauty chip that forced the D to turn and make a play.

6 weeks prior without thought he'd skate right into 4 opponents and cough.

Cause then they only owe him
$7,883,333
$7,883,333
$833,333
$833,333

So only 2 years they'll only be on the hook for significant cash

You put a 300lb man in centerfield you can't blame him for not getting to balls in the gap......... You put Bedard out in a 3 on 3 vs a top faceoff man in Larkin you know DET starts the OT with the puck vs an 18 yr old who's "figuring it out" on the D side of the puck.

If LR wants to get caught up in the Helicopter's jersey flush nonsense/party and get Bedard out there, fine, let D!ckenson win the faceoff and get off so the kid gets to play.

You'll never get an argument outa me for getting Jones off the ice.. Watched this kid live vs the Steel for 2 yrs many yrs ago and never, ever, ever saw it. Never, but do concede Jones had the tools to expect him to develop.

But the kid was just so damn clueless, not a hint of hockey IQ, that he'd have to develop generational hands/feet to overcome it.

Really, the past two yrs as this game went on it's the only one I wanted the Hawks to win. Especially after having to be in the arena for 10 yrs and seeing how pathetic the Detroilet fans are.

Always carried bail money with me to a Red Army game at the UC. ....

Hawks are a tough out, man. No, they ain't gonna win but they show enough structure and work rate, backed up by Mrazak, to give even very good teams problems.

I've defended Jones for too long because I thought that "at worst" he'd still be a serviceable #2/#3 defense-man for the Hawks for a long time even if his contract never matched expectations.

But now, I don't even know what I could be defending. He legitimately doesn't do anything well. He doesn't create offensive opportunities; he doesn't carry the mail into the offensive zone well; he doesn't show off any semblance of physical prowess at his 6'4" stature; and he doesn't appear to lead by example on the ice either (don't see him communicating; don't see him getting scrappy; don't see him giving the team energy boosts; etc.) He's just getting cardio in out there for 25 minutes a night.

Saying Jones has the worst contract in the league is no longer hyperbole - it's irrefutable.

The Hawks aren’t winning with Bedard on the bench. The Hawks have only one game breaker with a motley collection of AHL players, journeymen and a couple of fourth line plugs in a season that doesn’t matter. I didn’t like seeing him extend his shift and as long as he gets this out of his system when he has some viable teammates in a season or three I don’t think it really matters.
