Heard that the Chelios family always a Cadillac I don’t know if that is more or totally a reference to his parents But Chellios arrived to Th United Center in a ‘62 Cadillac tonight

IDK how but if it happens I will gladly pack up his house and drive his ass to the airport.

In a couple of weeks he will get to -100 for his 3 seasons in Chicago. A video tribute tp all his bonehead plays would last longer than a game.

On the radio broadcast tonight Wideman said “ten of eleven forwards on Detroit have ten or more goals this season. Christian Fischer only one with less - just a couple but he plays a big role on team”

Spring more or less a fourth lin player has 16 goals

That is an impressive stat Wideman offered up

LATE ADD I bet that Dallas has a comparable amount of scorers with ten or more. NYR maybe?

That info. is correct. Detroit now has 12 players with at 10+ goals. Which I believe leads the NHL in that category. It's nice to see that kind of balance on the roster. This is the first Wings team that can truly roll 4 lines and get scoring from all of them. They're going to need that kind of scoring balance if they get into the playoffs... which I think they will. This is the best Wings team I've seen in about 7 or 8 years in terms of depth. Things will get interesting once their top prospects of Edvinsson, Danielson, Berggren and Mazur crack the lineup... which will be pretty soon I expect. The Yzerplan rolls on...

Wings were lucky to get the win tonight.... they got outplayed for large portions of the game. That save Reimer made on Bedard's breakaway was HUGE. I miss the old rivalry when the Hawks and Wings were in the same division. Toronto is their main rival now IMO. I loved watching the Hawks beat Toronto twice this season. Of course some the Leaf's fans always blame the refs or say they "played down" to the competition when they lose.

Fitting ending. Poetic justice. Can’t complain.

Agreed. Still lots of love for Kaner and I hope he continues to play and be successful as long as he wants.

(Not directed at you) I don’t think Jones’ play is the whole story. He should be playing 2nd pair minutes but he’s playing half the game because of the lack of defensive depth. If they could limit his play to ~20 mins per game and 2nd PP duty (if he gets any PP time) I think we’d see Jones play much better.

Yup, they need to upgrade about 18 of the 23 dressed skaters as well as Jonrs and his contract.

Did anyone see Bedard check Kane into the boards? Classic. There is no "E" in ECHO. Don't blame Bedard for Kanes' goal. How much defense did Kane ever play? The kid is learning, give him time. They gave us exactly what we wanted; effort. We are not looking for wins. And Chelios did not want to be traded. He wanted a lifetime contract to stay with the Hawks. That was all Bob the bumbler. Same with JR. All of us have opinions but it is not the same as knowing the facts.

I heard Kane in a post game interview say that after he got checked hard by Bedard he figured he had to get back at him but then there was no time and he won the game in OT. That is the classic giving it back response though expect some retaliation in a game later on iMHO

I should have caught that about the spelling of “echo.”

I predict that there will never be a ceremony for Stan Bowman who was the architect for at least two Cups and deserves some credit too for the 2010 Cup

GM’s don’t get recognized especially if later their record is stained with the poor judgment in the Beach affair.

Sam Pollak (Montreal) never had a banner raised for his accomplishments, right

He was there. I saw video of him, Keith, Hossa and Sharp greeting Kane prior t the game.

The question should be is where was Toews?

I'm not defending Jones because he is definitely overpaid, and I'm not a fan o his overall play, but does anyone here remember how bad the D was when he was out? He's unfortunately still the most complete D on the team. As much as I love Vlasic's defensive game, he has no idea what to do when he passes the red line with the puck. Again, this isn't to say that Jones is great by any stretch, but he's the best currently on the team.

There was plenty of blame to go around yesterday for the loss. Brutal turnovers, Mrazek not sealing the side of the net on the second goal, Tinordi and Megna basically handing the puck to the wings every time they tried to make an outlet pass, and on and on... Did Bedard make mistakes in OT? Sure. Should that be used as some condemnation of what his career will be? That's a bit of a leap. Let's all remember that this team sucks. Expect more results like this than good ones.

I don't know if Johnny is having some mental health issues or took his ball and has gone home.....but as I recall he wasn't at the Rocky services and then last night the only comments we got were from a beat writer who got a hold of him via text.....for the face of the franchise for over 16 years.....last night was a tough one to miss.

I was there in my old section with our son, who is 8. Getting to see his reaction to guys like Chelios, Belfour and Roenick who knows through NHL94 on the old genesis was a riot. What a great tribute and speech by Chelios, and I am not a Chelios fan.

I disagree with those saying you shouldn't retire a number. It's an honor that is most of the time well deserved where fans, and even generation of fans, onlly recognize said player with said number. Hawks only have what.....9? We aren't talking about the Bears here who retire a number for anyone who can breathe.

Again all for the tank.....but dear lord.....Davidson needs to get some talent to play with Bedard. This is a team full of 9-12 forwards outside of him. Hell, some of these guys shouldn't even playing on this team let alone a contender.

Megna.....I guess he's a place holder but he's timid, rarely uses his size, and just makes more moronic decision than Jones.

Jones....I chuckle when he's in the starting lineup and you hear the smattering of boos when he's announced. Reading his quotes looks like he's getting frustrated. Maybe he;ll ask out. Not a fan....tried to give him the benefit of the doubt since he got here....but OT winner....Kurashev was open down below and even had Bedard back door....knowing both his forwards were down low he takes a shot that had 0.0001% of succeeding and then forced a rebound.....and Kane called game. Selfish move from a selfish player who 1000% thinks he's better than what he is. If they launched him tomorrow.....it would be a blessing.

Seth Jones is lipstick on a pig. Nothing more, nothing less.

Tries to dance in and create and either has to pull back or forces something that leads to a turnover. He's a place holder and eating minutes because the other version of him.....Murphy....is hurt again. Shocker.

If KD really wanted to trade Jones, he could trade him. If San Jose was able to loose itself from Eric Karlsson's contract, KD should be able to figure out a way to lose Jones, if he so chooses.

100% and I don't think KD has to trade him....I think Jones is going to ask out like he did in Columbus and again here....and go wherever and still lose and blame everyone else besides himself...because Jones refuses to even contemplate he's more of a problem than a solution.

Why do you hate history and patience so much? Yzerman has been leading the team since April of 2019. This is his fifth year leading the team and they are just now battling for a wild card spot. It takes time to build up a farm system, get the crap players out and the good ones in. The top players his first year were:

Bertuzzi
a 53 pt Larkin
Filppula
Athanasiou
Abdelkader
Fabbri
Frans Nielsen
Glendining
Mantha

The following year the only notable change was Namestnikov in the forward ranks.

As far as the coach being a winner at a lot of levels, here is Lalonde's history:
https://www.hockeydb.com/...ts/pdisplay.php?pid=78967

I'm mot saying he's bad, but if you took the name away and looked at the results here, I'm not jumping off the couch and saying "we gotta get this guy!!" He had one good year in Green Bay, and I'd say an above average stint in the ECHL. Otherwise, he's an assistant. Were Haviland, Torchetti, Kompon, etc great NHL coaches because they were on the Hawks when they were good?

Sadly there's a segment of fans who can't comprehend the rebuild, what it is, how long it ACTUALLY takes, and would 100% prefer a Whitesox approach where you aren't good enough to win, but aren't bad enough to add the necessary pieces needed. SO instead you get stuck in sports hell. Same with the bulls. THe reinsdorf way....

Sure. I'll even grant you all of this. He's still the best overall defenseman on the team at this point.

Contract: sucks

Play: above average (looking at the total picture of usage, fancies, and the eye test)

Verdict: everyone hates him because he's overpaid for what he provides on a bad team. Seth Jones is at the low end of this team's worries right now.

There's nothing to grant.

Saying he's the best defenseman on this team is not a badge of an honor. He's surrounded by an abundance of 6/7 D men (Megna, Tinordi, Zaitsev) and young kids who are learning each night.

The only purpose he serves is eating minutes to not destroy another kid's confidence level by playing those same minutes when said rookie/young player isn't ready.

I will agree to disagree on his play being above average.

I swear to god I am watching Boris Mironov.
