I think the refs are frustrating him more than anything else. Couple of really nice slashes on him last night.
- BetweenTheDots

Every good player goes through it. So far he hasn’t gone through 2% of the abuse Crosby took in his first couple of seasons. One thing I like is Bedard is giving it back, one thing I don’t like is the whining to the refs. Bedard has dreamed of playing in the NHL his whole life, one thing that comes with it is putting on the big boy pants.

I also saw a VERY frustrated Bedard last night. 91 has ZERO business skating with him. NONE.
- SteveRain

And game after game Bedsy gotta be frustrated at Kurashevs deficits as an attacker.

When i say dead money, I'm also talking about TJ, the Frenchman, Zaitsev, Keith, about $15 mil

And i don't want them to get any top line talent, i would really like to see KD signing 3 quality NHL forwards who are middling 2nd and 3rd line guys. It'll be 3 more than we have this year.

- BetweenTheDots

Unless they overperform, if KD is to be taken at face value, none of his expected signings are going to be top line guys. He will likely bring in 2-3 2nd-ish line players and fill out the rest as best he can. Think Stephenson/DeBrusk/Eberle/etc. He knows he needs to add actual offensive talent so that they don't fall completely off the rails.

Are there any players that don't complain to the refs? Especially ones that get hammered night in and night out? Toews did the same thing, and I don't think it took anything away from him.

Last night I watched on a number of occasions Kurashev and Beauvillier skate in front of Bedard impeding him. Or neither being in a position to receive a pass. Both guys are in way above their heads playing with Bedard. Yes Kurashev has had a reasonably good year but imagine how a good winger with a better hockey mind and skills would be.

I was watching Jones last night to see if he would pass to Bedard. I’m not sure I saw one direct pass in the offensive zone? I saw Bedard pass then move into position for the give and go and Jones skated the puck into a position where he ran out of options. I’m not so sure Jones just doesn’t have good on ice vision. However if there’s even an inkling Jones has a problem with Bedard he has to go. That nonsense would become toxic in no time.

It may be a good idea for KD to look at acquiring a top talent to play with next season. If Nazar is ready great, but if not scour the trade market or free agency and find someone who has a chance at creating some chemistry with Bedard before Bedard gets so frustrated he starts getting into all kinds of bad habits.

- paulr

I did the same.....Bedard was waiting with his stick up for one timers and Jones is tunneled vision almost a way to pad his own stats. Just getting more and more selfish each and every game and look.....like you.....I tried to give this guy the benefit of the doubt for a few years and hoping what others said on here the moment he was acquired wouldnt happen....but it has.

I think Jones is a cancer. His on ice play is all about him, his quotes just echo a selfish me clown who divides a room, and again......ill keep saying it....if LR and KD thought he and Murphy had a strong hold on that room.....would they have sought out Foligno and others this offseason? Likely not. Tinordi said it back vs NJ Foligno voice is the voice in that room and I am 100% certain a raging ego maniac like Jones it just burns his @ss to hear that.

I am very hopeful Jones will ask out and soon. His brother was turd and he's just more lipstick on the same ego maniac his brother was/is. He'll be on his 4th team here soon, and #1 d man or top pairing d man, dont move around that often unless THEY ARE THE PROBLEM. Maybe Seth should get his @ss a full size mirror and spend some time staring into it?

THey all do, but blatant slashes can't be missed. I get the border line trips where Bedard embellishes a bit and has to earn that right for those calls......but that slash was brutal. So was the BS interference call.....that ice is as much his as the guy backing into him...he didn't pick him......

I didn’t suggest anyone’s whining took anything away from their game. Crosby whined allot in his early years and many fans hate him to this day even though he doesn’t complain to the refs nearly as much today. Complaining accomplishes very little, hopefully Bedard just sucks it up and competes hard.

Seen a lot worse not get called, and not going down the league is against the hawks narrative...but crap teams do have to earn respect vs opposing teams, players, and officials. It's just nature of the beast.

I do agree with Foligno and I would 100% make him captain next year. Let Bedard learn from him....as unlike Toews who was an unicorn, I can't see Bedard being ready for that type of pressure yet......he still hasn't found his game at the nHL level until he gets quality linemates.

i would 100% strip Jones of any letter. Richardinson Foligno....and maybe Hall.

I’m not sure I have ever seen a potential generational star begin his career on a team completely talentless as this Hawk team is. That alone has to be frustrating for Bedard. He gets himself into scoring position and his teammates either don’t see him or are unable to get the puck to him. His teammates have no clue how to find open ice and allot of the time they manage to get in his way. I’m sure one day he’ll look back and understand he learned something from it and he may even have a little laugh but right now he’s not a happy guy.

But they also desperately want draft picks. Doesn’t matter they also don’t have a defenseman the Oil would be interested in.

That 3 on 2 last night with the puck on Bedard's stick, and Beauvillier going offside (not even close) would be so laughable if not so tragic.

I get the fact KFC is in love with speed, but along with having no talent, the Hawks must have the players with the collective dumbest hockey sense since the 1974-75 Washington Capitals. But they can skate fast.

Just need Athanasiou back in the lineup and this Hawk team would easily motor past the 1974 Caps on any lowest hockey IQ measurement test.

And they could let Tonya Harding conduct the test on some of these guys just so she could feel of average intelligence again.

Yeah, I turned it off after the 3rd goal last night. It's so hard to watch them be so inept even knowing that was expected. As slow as Foligno is, he's unfortunately one of the better linemates for Bedard as he actually knows how to set-up and finish a play - not to mention gives that line at least a modicum of defense.

I agree. If a player has a high IQ he doesn't need to be quite as fast. Fast guys with low IQ chase the puck around all night and rarely if ever catch up.

And the flop The Avs player took to draw the interference penalty. Thesee refs need to start calling majors for embellishment. the last few games I watched, there is a ton of flopping and diving going on. NHL is treading to MSL territory.

Defensemen are attractive for buyers at trade deadline and this time we have already seen this even a week before the trade deadline

I am curious in what order the board would choose to have the following dmen pared or looked off even at a slightly less than favorable return: Murphy, Tinordi, Megna, Zaitsev

Of course there may be more money we retain and or a lower draft choice - perhaps both is part of a trade equation

I am suggesting third round choice this year or next but that may be too good a return to expect

Maybe two of them for a third and a fourth with one pick from this and one choice from the ‘25 draft plus we retain some salary

Cant' help but look forward to next year. My hope is for the following:

1) Kaiser displays a similar bump in play that Vlasic did getting all those minutes in the AHL. Maybe not quite as good of performance, but enough to show he belongs.

2) Reichel comes back with a bug up his ass and proves to be more consistent.

3) KD realizes the kind of talent that he needs to put around Bedard to actually help him progress.

4) Who knows, maybe we get to see Slaggert and/or Nazar before this season ends (if for nothing else, something to actually get excited to watch).
