As usual, in their contract year, players all of a sudden seem to play at the top of their game... Then they take their foot of the gas.
It will be interesting to see how Sam produces next season.

By all accounts, he is a fine human being and generally likeable. He tried to provide valuable leadership and I think the 2 previous seasons he helped move the organization forward... It was the right call at the time.
Now, under the pressures of increased expectations, that leadership style wasn't as effective with this group of players.

I hope he is traded to a true contender and goes on to enjoy the success of winning a cup. Next season he can comeback on Kyle Okposo Appreciation Day to bask in the glory. I wish him nothing but the best, other than to never return on ice for this team.
