Your scouting report probably right but a lot of concssions for Byram after coming into the league as a 19 year old. Took a beating playing against men before he was ready.
I'd bet Buffalo will flip him, they already have Owen Power and Dahlin. - RickJ

Buffalo acquires Bowen Byram from Colorado Casey Mittlestadt
So the guy who everybody said was a sure fire #1 NHL defenseman and should have been who the Hawks pick instead of Dach, has proven my predraft evaluation that despite his clear offensive capabilities, that he has lacking enough hockey sense and decision making to deem him replacable by Sean Walker. - wiz1901
I don't see Byram lasting in Buffalo that long, they have Dahlin, Power, and Samuelsson tied up long term.

Well some interesting trades happening today and really some trades were going to happen / right - yet certainly caught off guard on some of the player movement
B Bryan to Buffalo for Middlestadt. Buffalo has young forwards who figure to become more prominent roles but that would be more next year and beyond. Obviously both teams want to battle down the stretch and if they make the playoffs ( Buffalo) they sport a different look.
Two dmen I see affected but not in a major way is Samuelson out for season injured (Buffalo) and C Jones (Colorado). I just don’t think much positive on Nones but he skates well and maybe he is asked to concentrate on moving puck and keeping it simple defensively. Not sure however if he more depth or third pair
The NYI have a tough task to sneak into playoffs but first of all beyond any meaningful trades….just know they go to war now (past couple weeks) with two key dmen returned from injury: Pelech and Pullok
I don’t expect anything of much significance completed by KD. Not expecting a first round but perhaps a forward and dman moves out other than T Johnson.

Tampa was the 3rd team in the Edmonton/Anaheim trade, retaining 25% of Henrique for a 4th.

Maybe as off season UFA signing. I don't think Tampa has many trade chips to offer Calgary right now. |

Yeah, lots of posters mocked Handzus and Rozsival due to their lack of speed and both were invaluable in the playoffs. |

Don't worry those guys will play very brave against Buffalo tonight.
And then be too tired for the game in Boston tomorrow. |

I was listening to the NHL on Sirius/XM before the last Boston game. It was hilarious that they were saying Boston was struggling coming into the game and the Leafs had a chance to really take them to the woodshed. Turns out hockey is hard. |

Jeff Skinner at that cap hit. As mentioned by LA Hawk when we were talking about comparable contract situations. |

I don't know who those ill informed announcers were - but the Bruins are struggling so bad that they slipped down to only the 2nd most standings points in the NHL. And thats with 15 overtime losses. |

College players would be more like 18-22. Yes the older ones would be more mature. - rpeters01
01, and I did search this, and at one time knew this, but I do believe you can play NCAA D1 hockey at 26 yrs old. .....I remember when Union College won the frozen Four in 2014 with one drafted player, Ghost taken in rd 3, the talk was how old the squad was. IIRC the average age was 22-23 but I can't find any articles that addresses that..
Before I finish this post I want to stress that no path is THE path. Each kid develops differently and the best path for him is the one that fits him whether that be CHL, NCAA, Tier 1, European jrs/pro.
But all things being equal I'm an NCAA guy.

Hahaha, where shall i start
so it was smart to sign Lindy Ruff to a contract extension earlier in the season and then fire him? I never like Ruff but boy oh boy Timo is really paying off for them this season.
Kings fire their coach this year, PLD seems to be really paying off for the Kings as well, i like that they didn't give up their own pick and it was a 2nd round pick but they did give up a nice prospect in the trade and leveraged themselves against the cap signing PLD.
Oilers fire their coach this year but in all honesty McDavid is at that age where they have to try to win a Cup like the Golden Knights. So i liked the move for the defenseman
I liked Stevie Ys shrewd deal with the Senators he gave up a first that he traded for and only a 4 year contract with Cat at a reasonable price.
If KD wants to package a late 1st rounder for a young established top 6 forward i have no problem with that, i just don't want it to be 2 firsts and prospects. And not a disgruntled forward
All these teams have to show for their trades is making the playoffs banners and being up against the cap banners. Well except for Detroit but I'm sure they will be up against the cap pretty quick here.
Added, i don't know if it'll pay off but i like the Sabres direction right now, slow and steady, let your already good players get more playing experience and keep building through the draft. - BetweenTheDots
Help me out, Dots. Has any team ever traded an established young top 6 player for a late 1st unless the player was a cancer or disgruntled??????? Off the top of my head I can't think of one and would imagine if a GM did make that trade he won't collect an NHL paycheck for very long.
And, have you watched a NJ game within the last yr and a half. Cuz there is no way you have and have not seen the havoc Mier causes an opponent.... I'm sure it won't, but don't let me diminish the hate you have for Mier and power forwards.
Probably time for CAR to cut their losses and trade Svechnikov for a 3rd, cuz you know, what have they won?
