CapFriendly has $5.75M - Chunk
Great cap hit, but the deal is a bit long for my liking. Given the style Forsling plays he should still be a semi-effective d-man in his mid-30s.

With all the d-men Toronto has acquired, I wonder if they'll look to move any of their other guys to recoup picks.
Maybe Liljegren is available? |

is he any better than what the Hawks have in the pipeline? I know he is right handed, a #17 pick, but is he a potential top 4 D Man?

So they net lost a few draft places by giving up their 5th and getting Nashville's 5th. #fail is right!
Could be worse. Did any of us expect him to get dealt? |

Mentioned on Twitter was that Beauvillier played for Trotz. That seems to be the angle for them. |

Wonder if either side would do 8 x $7.5 ? I mean for Vlasic. |

If I'm Vlasic, I'd jump at it, but I doubt KD would go that route. |

Yep, by the time the Hawks are ready to contend, Vlasic will be past his use by date..... |

The Sporting News has the Hawks drafting Charlie Elick, a defenseman, with the 18th pick. Doubt it. They have Tanner Howe, Bedard's buddy from Regina, going to Colorado at 25. |

Saw Elick earlier in the season when Brandon came out to Seattle and I was favorably impressed - he is a big guy but seems very agile, good on defense, nice point shot. Would not take him at #18 but he would be a good bargain in round 2, even at #33. Big RD seem to be valuable this year, so maybe he does go late first.

Its hard to gauge who the Hawks will take with Tampa's pick, I think it will be linked to their pick. If the Hawks pick a forward with their pick they'll likely take a d-man with Tampa's (and vice versa). Its not written in stone, but highly probable.
That being said, I like Jiriceck (RHD) and Hage (RHC) for the Hawks with Tampa's pick. |

Your scouting report probably right but a lot of concssions for Byram after coming into the league as a 19 year old. Took a beating playing against men before he was ready.
I'd bet Buffalo will flip him, they already have Owen Power and Dahlin. - RickJ
I dunno all three can play the RD.
He is a help until the next concussion.

Just think about all those "great" Mock FOOTBALL drafts they do there.
CharlieElick He is #50 in my draft.
Elick's size stands out but he is mobile and skates very smoothly in open ice, including going backwards. HeOn offense, he stays at the point and has a low, hard shot that usually gets through to the net and can generate rebounds. Played a bit at LD also. Physical on defense, had a boarding penalty behind his own net, was nearly beaten on the rush a couple of times, and would chase out to the blue line in his own zone on occasion. All of these are correctable as he gains experience. There seems little doubt that he has all the tools to be an NHL defenseman, the only question is how good a NHL defenseman will he be? He is a throwback who concentrates on the defensive side of the game. Tools stand out and he looks like he could become a good mid-pairing d-man. |

Thats exactly it - Trotz wants a playoff spot and adds some forward depth cheap. If he contributes something Preds are happy.
Hawks give up a forward that they needed to rent after injuries hit. They get a lottery ticket back. |

Another late rounder - Dominic James - progressing in recovery:
https://kdal610.com/2024/...ts-leads-to-shootout-win/
"For the first time this season, junior Dominic James traveled with the team, since Biondi wasn’t available to make the trip. James has been ramping up his on-ice work as of late, but there’s no indication he’ll be cleared to return to the lineup."
Will see how he does next year at UMD. Will be 22 next year, not sure they have a spot for him unless he makes a big jump. |

Interesting take by some in the media saying the Sabres are buildiing the best defence corps in the NHL. I will believe that when I see them make the playoffs after 13 years of being nowhere. They had to move Mittelstadt because they were;t going to offer him a big $ new contract. He's a player I thought might fit with the Hawks. |
