Davidson suggested he thinks the Blackhawks' two remaining salary retention spots will be more valuable down the road than they would've been this week, because he was only geting offered late-round picks to be a broker. |

You're not part of the deadline deals if the rest of the league thinks your players are a direct dead lines to elimination. |

Hopefully, at worst, he uses the open retention spots to put the screws to a team like Vegas, Colorado, TB, or Toronto and get a few actual players. |

Just having fun with that comment. Nobody was expecting much. I had heard about Blackwell's situation the other day, also. Otherwise, they probably move him. Just shocked they found a taker for Beauvillier's contract. And I was hoping for Tyler's sake that they could find a home for him after his brutal time here. I figured they would make the trade "for the player" with him. - 333inthe3rd
All good. Didn’t realize that was the issue with Blackwell. Just saw someone post KFC’s comment, and like someone mentioned would be great if he can make something out of it over the Summer. |

Apparently they wanted him to broker multiyear contracts. |

For the $1.2 mil. the Hawks are paying Blackwell, I wouldn't mind him being resigned, just as long as he can be slotted properly as a 4th line, move up the line-up if needed because of injury type of player.

Per BleacherNation:
Blackhawks Roster Moves
D Nikita Zaitsev (knee) activated from injured reserve
D Louis Crevier assigned to Rockford
D Isaak Phillips assigned to Rockford
Phillips and Crevier were assigned to the IceHogs so they could be eligible for the AHL playoffs. In order for a player to be eligible for the AHL playoffs, they would have to be on the roster this afternoon. These moves accomplish that, so we’ll likely be seeing both of those guys on Rockford’s blue line when the regular season wraps up.
It sounds like one or both of them may end up actually making the trip to Rockford as well though given the return of Nikita Zaitsev, but we’ll likely have a better idea of that prior to tomorrow’s game against Washington. |

Good to hear some of the injured are getting set to return. Those injuries really hurt them this year in the Win-Loss column. |

Not sure what you guys have in the TOR area but I read about Japadog before going out to VAN. They had about a dozen variations of their dogs and whatever I had was and worth going back for. |

Thru 2 Byram with BUF's only goal, 3 shots......... great point in the last thread Rick, BUF didn't want to pay Mittlestadt and got a nice return for him.
Dot's, I'm with you 100%, I like the BUF style of rebuild as oppossed to say the LVG approach. I'll take my chances with young players like Cozens, Dahilin, Power (I'm lower on him than most though), Thompson-Byram (acquired in trades), Peterka all locked up long term (in only a couple yrs these 8 yr deals will be bargains) and are under 25!! You do not get these kinds, or as many, without doing it thru the draft.
Add Rosen, Kulich, Savoie, Bensons in the system and you got a Ted Nugent "look out", kinda roster that only the cap can derail..... BUT, IMO it's time for Adams to go get a Tkachuk, Meir type, a Hellybuyck in goal and put the needle on the record. - Mr Ricochet
What's to like about Buffalo? Theyre drowning in mediocrity and have zero super stars outside of Dahlin. They just traded their best forward in Mittlestadt.
Most of that team had an unusually high shooting percentage last year.
They don't have a lot of dominant play drivers. Most of the team is over 50% but that doesn't include Cozens. Krebs is their best forward and Thompson is sure having a step back year. Wonder how sustainable shooting 15% is over the course of the rest of his career - especially with no one to give him the puck.
Vegas has been in the playoffs every year but one, gone to 3 WCF finals, 2 cup finals and won one.
Those results are much better.

You guys are getting a deal. That's only 1.11 in US$ while us Yanks have to pay the whole 1.50 US.

Thoughts on what Zegras would cost in a trade? - Assman22
I would think that the Ducks would use him (if they were going to move him) to get a veteran of some kind.
Like Zegras in a package for I dunno like a Kyle Connor or someone like that. Older player, some playoff experience, similar production. |

Hello all!
Why is there a group of Blackhawk fans that get so upset when there is ANY criticism of Seth Jones? His contract = HORRIBLE (THANKS STAN!!!! ). His play, EXTREMELY inconsistent. Out of the 7 top paid Defensemen, Jones has the least number of goals (3) and points (20) out of all of them. His numbers make him the 72nd ranked Defenseman in the League, despite missing several games due to injury. Yes, he is on the last place team in the League, but despite all of these inhibiting factors, his play does not live up to his contract. The Hawks SHOULD look to trade him ANY WAY POSSIBLE.... To get his bad contract out of town and because the Hawks have A TON of cap space, here is a proposed trade:
Seth Jones & Oliver Moore to Vancouver.
Elias Pettersson, OEL's contract, 2025 1st rnd pick & the 2024 2nd rnd pick to Chicago.
What are your thoughts?
LET'S GO HAWKS!!!! - Power29
This is an instructive article. I posted it the other day. It's long but worth a read.
https://jfresh.substack.c...seth-jones-actually-elite
Essentially he's fine but not excellent.
Its been suggested here that with a reduced role and against lower quality of competition he could use his physical gifts going forward and carrying the puck more effectively and giving him a better opportunity to match up with guys who aren't going to exploit his gap control and stuff.
If you play fun math games the RHD in the system - is probably 3 years away from the NHL (maybe 2 so 3 total NCAA years) its gonna take 2 to get up to speed and not suck at defending so now were at 5 and at that point there's not a lot of Jones deal left to matter.
If they can move him in a hockey trade then whatever but it doesn't HAVE TO happen. |
