Our biggest problem is we only had one 2nd round pick to trade, as over the last couple years we've kind of been burning the wick at both ends trying to wheel and deal. Our draft capital was either 1st round picks or relatively high end prospects. I personally think Drury got punked, sitting at the poker table scared to play his hand. Afraid so much that he would trade one of these kids and they turn into a star that he chose not to gamble.
Personally, after seeing what the Avs did, I would have considered a trade of a similar ilk. I would have made a trade with the Predators for Carrier 50% retained, maybe for Sykora, I dont know. Then subsequently made a trade/offer with the Blues for Buchnevich 50% retained for a 2025 1st round pick and Schneider. - aecliptic
My only problem this year was waiting so long. But turns out it didn’t really burn them nor maybe have the opportunity to do anything
If they get everything clicking now we’ll be dangerous. It has to happen now, Zib and kakko specifically

I was thinking today before Roslovic maybe they plan on calling up othmann again. But clearly they won’t be doing that now, which is fine. Just was trying to figure what the hell they were going to do lol |

Oh for sure. Who else would get it? He’s going to score 3 points per game
as we sweep every one of our opponents |

If this was the path they were gonna take, I kind of wouldnt have minded (in hindsight) a Dowd trade. If youre not going to go for scoring depth, then become a total pain in the arse to play against. |

1g 2a (to Zib because Perreault is gonna unlock Mika).
Didnt Seguin essentially do that in his rookie year to take the Bruins to the Cup? |

A solid B/B+
Drury address the teams needs that we have all been talking about, R, 3C and depth D, and filled them by trading smartly. I think he won these trades.
Now Zib needs to find his game, the D need to tighten up and Igor needs to find his groove.
Playoffs are on these players. Of all the concerns, Zib is still mine. I think Panarin will have a strong playoffs, he is driving more to the net and has been playing better defensively. |

Mika is one thing...
Im curious how Cuylle, Wennberg, Kakko/Roslovic play. The potential is there to be a sneaky productive line. |

I think Roslovic needs to shoot more when he is here. He is averaging 2 shots a game, needs to have at least 3 a game. |

C-. Wanted badly to vote F. But that wasn't fair because he did something. - blacksheep1
If I didn't read until the end of the comments for last blog I would have pegged you for the F someone rated.
Thinking C+ since Drury didn't sell the thin prospect farm or first pick and did get somewhat versatile depth players even though we didn't really get the elusive top RW. Well, we've had worse deadlines than this. |

Now that deadline passed maybe it was weighing a bit on Kakko (hearing rumors) where now he just play hockey. He’s got to be more productive, just has to. It’s time to shine now |

I think Drury did alright. My past experience with the Pens is that too often teams make some big move and it just doesn't work out and you've just wasted assets. Sometimes 2 or 3 low key depth moves is all that's needed to bolster a team while retaining some of that chemistry. When the pens made the hossa trade, who would have thought the best part for the pens would be pascal dupuis? |

Third line match ups should also help.
He hasn’t produced on line one, but he was playing well when he came back from injury (on the third line). |

If you haven’t looked at Roslovics last few games, take a look. He’s on fire right now🔥we got the weapon we need at RW. Learn to like it, it’s going to work. He’s been RW1 for a bit and looks what’s happening. Breakout potential. 6 EVEN STRENGTH POINTS in his last 5 games. |
