I said it before and I will say it again and again We have players who can hit targets (the goalies chest and the goalies glove) but we do not have snipers who can find the corners of the net We seem to shoot right at the target It is time to not hit the target but hit the back of the net They all seem like that is almost impossible Crash the net and cause chaos in the crease We avoid the dirty areas And that is why we outshoot but do not outscore the opponent Need a Corey Perry type of player We have prima donnas |

If I were management I would ask Sid Do you want to try to compete for another CUP or do you want to stay here for a rebuild and never have the opportunity for another Chance at winning a Cup. He is still a premier player but that will not help this rebuild. Other teams will pay a hefty price to get him for a couple of years and those picks and prospects will help the Pens rebuild Youth is the only thing that will help this organization moving forward Playing you whole career for one team is nice but those guys who are competitive want more than the status quo
Imagine what you could get from a contender .......Sid and Letang Make your offers |

Teams won't pay a "hefty price" because there won't be a bidding war
Sid will choose his spot, Dubas will facilitate the deal by getting the standard "Top Prospect", 1st round pick and a bad contract back to facilitate the money part of the deal

Took a Quick Look at mock drafts. Again I know (frank) all about prospects but that huge kid from Medicine Hat looks like a future fan favorite. Wonder if we can drop far enough in the standings to land him. Sounds like he’s gonna go top 5. |

Penguins were leapfrogged by the Sabres today. Penguins now 8th in the draft lottery. If we finished 8th, the lowest we could be is 10th, therefore we'd keep our pick if we wanted to.
Based on lottery odds, we'd have a 6% chance of the 1st pick and 6.2% chance of the 2nd pick. Not sure if those are impacted by the fact the Blackhawks cant have the #1 pick this season.
Last thought from the game today - I like Bunting's game today. - SuperHenderson13
Pens has ~6% chance in 2005 for Sid, so I think the odds are in their favor. Pens get the #1 pick every 20 years, so it’s about time.

Not long. Not sure when he eligible to return. - madmike71
Thanks. He's served his time on IR, that's only for seven days.
Also, I'm not sure what's O'Connor's situation. If he is IR, then Gruden can be considered an Emergency call up. If not, I don't like the idea of wasting a move with him. You only get four and you still need to recall a defenseman. We don't need to be in the situation we were several years ago forced to play with five Dmen.
I'm assuming Rust is close and when he returns, we'll have twelve healthy forwards and eighteen healthy skaters. We can return Gruden and save a recall.

That would be a classic pens ending to this wasted season.

I don’t believe that’s true. My understanding is that a team cannot win the lottery more than twice in a five-year span (starting with the 2022 lottery). - Quetzalcoatl

That's exactly who I was thinking. Seems like #1 is Celebrini and then its a crap shoot. The good thing is there is a really good mix of wingers/centers/defensemen so you could go anyway you wanted.
This Lindstrom guy seems to be the kind of player we havent had in the long time. I doubt he gets out of the top 3-4 based on where he's trending.
Jarome Iginlas kid is also in the draft and expected to be in the mid-first round. |

Just to point something out here...sure we can tank this year, maybe get lucky and move up even further...but you also realize we can sign Guentzel back in the off season, right? If he wants to come back because he likes PIT then he will, and the team would definitely be more competitive with him back + whatever else is done over the off-season. If he doesn't sign then he probably wouldn't have signed anyway...and we use that money to sign somebody else. |

You would not believe what you could get for SID Vancouver Edm Dallas NYR
Carolina T Bay Florida Colorado L A Kings Really no bidding for a player like SID ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND They were lining up for Jake Package SID AND LETANG and I would be that would be an all our bidding war Sid is still one of the best players in the world He will be the Capt of the Canada Olympic team too |

From Dubas comments, he made it seem like next year they’re going to be spending some money to make another run next year.
This season is lost, but I think Dubas gives up next years pick in hopes the team can do a bit better next year - drummer829
New to Dubas the great ? The forward thinking progressive media darling tells you his team is cup ready every year and talks about the players that are going to step up during the year. It obviously doesn't work . Then he has the I take responsibility for the failure press conference. Then tells all the work he is going to do to change things . Look realistically at his work . He inherited two teams that had superstar cores ,
4 stars that he had no part in acquiring in TO and 2 generational players plus 2 stars in Pit . His moves that all the writers and of course RW LOVED in the summer tanked.
For all the badmouthing of the prior GM's you would think that this season would show major improvement . Well old school JR and his 3 cups with his old school coach are in first place and Hextall for all his stupidity did sign the big stars to very team friendly contracts and his team was one point out of the playoffs last year .
Meanwhile the genius has the team dead in March. Watched them today vs my bruins and felt sorry for Sid. Just wait and see what this team looks like when he slows down or the other older stars get hurt . Just wish the media would stop with the hype and look at the reality of his body of work. Not much to talk about . |

So much for Bemstrom or Puljujarvi ever getting a chance, Sullivan threw them under the bus for a bad line change yesterday. Apparently, that was the first bad line change of the season.

There is no way guentzel is coming back to pittsburgh after finding greener grass outside of this franchise.. Would you want to come back to the fiascal/mess? |

This "team" is made up of chevy chevettes and ford pinto's and playing against dodge chargers and mustangs with zero physical players to speak of. Dull, boring and reruns of the exact same crap on ice... and the cherry on top.. 2 cups sullivan. I'd rather watch a rebuild than what's on the ice now. At least they would play, work and try harder for a chance to play in the nhl. |

He'll get a deal similar to Nylander, I'd say. Maybe a tiny bit less per year....Especially if he does well with Canes. |

Nylander is four years younger than Guentzel. Guentzel is going to get paid but not like that |

If that’s what he gets I’m actually glad he’s gone. That would just ruin the team. How many less goals does Bunting score on a full season beside Sid? 10? |

Fortunately for them, Pens can't recall replacements anyways. Not that they are doing much either, rarely notice the third line. |
