These refs are great, Bedard covers a guy, player grabs his stick and high sticks himself in the face, Bedard goes to the box, hahaha

Nice to see the boys get a win tonight.

Penalties sort themselves out over the course of the year. We don’t complain when there’s a bad call in the Blackhawks’ favour but we notice every single call against our team. Every fan base in every sport is the same.

Sitting here watching the replay... and I was going to say -well, it was said by more than one of you ... yeh agreed -what's with the excited 12 year old PA announcer?!

I mean I heard it a few weeks ago doing starting line up intros ... shaking my head. Ugh.

Awesome, Wiz. Enjoy those kids cuz as you know they're only small for about 10 minutes then they don't have time for adults until they're 30.

I was asking Lou what if Demidov falls to the TB pick, do we strongly consider drafting a Russian around pick 20.
- BetweenTheDots

Wiz, and others, are much better to speculate on this, even though he seems lower on Demidov than some, he has the Cossack going at 6, there is no way the kid slips outa the top 10. IMO if he drops to 6-7 those franchises will start getting calls and if he drops to 10 that team will get a flood of offers.

I'm out on drafting a Cossack in the top 10 generally speaking, but if a kid most have with top 5 talent is available at 10 you gotta swing.

Interesting intro from the Buffalo writer. Some things to consider as the rebuild progresses. We aren't at this point yet, but maybe in 2-3 years as guys start coming up:

I don’t want to be too critical, but this year has been so strange and disappointing that I really felt a major move in the forward ranks was necessary. With guys like Guentzel, Toffoli, Hertl, and Kuznetsov moving, it just makes me think as to how much our management is out of touch and holding on to assets that will never have a chance to flourish in our organization. Not enough spots to go around and too many players in the pipeline. We simply don’t need anymore late round draft picks. Someone needs to poke the bear once in a while, someone needs to let the players know that it is time to come out of hibernation. It is still a business and they are the employees. I understand that managing relationships can be challenging when you are bringing a group together from all around the world, but they have to realize who is in charge and that performance matters. Has anybody looked at Patrick Kane's numbers? It could have been an easy solution to this nightmare, and I can pretty much guarantee that we would have at least six more points and in the thick of the playoff race. Not sure why that didn’t come to fruition, but when a fan popular talent is staring you in the face it doesn’t seem complicated to me considering the first half of the seasons failures.

Are you sure he'll be drafted in the top 10? Michcov a talent compared to Bedard and some thought better was drafted 7th?

Wasn't Miroshnichenko considered top 5 maybe even the best prospect in the draft? Drafted 20th?

I doubt he'll be top 10, probably not even top 15. So would you still be out on drafting him between 16-20? Nevermind i reread your post. That's the luxury of having that 2nd first round pick.

By the way Kantserov is having a nice playoffs in the KHL.

I love Bedard’s old time celly. Just like Steve Larmer, he just acts like he’s scored before.
- paulr

Having watched hockey for as many years as I have, I chuckle at some of these love fests after a goal has been scored these days. I like the way Bedard responds after he scores.

The majority of Russian players that have been successful recently (last 10 years) were ones that were drafted when they were already in North America. I'd have more apprehension on players still in Russia. The Hawks don't have any real track record of brining Russian players over outside of Altybarmakian who came over for two years then went back. We are still waiting for Powers fav Shalunov, then they drafted Nalimov (G), Kayumov, Alty, Safonov, and now Kantserov. If Kantserov makes it over I'll be amazed.

I’m always leery when it comes to drafting comrades, not sure I would ever touch one in the first round. Now, if one is on my top five on the draft board and he’s there for the Tampa pick, I may give serious consideration.

How about when a defensive player makes a tackle for a loss and celebrates like he just won the SB, all while his team
is down by three touchdowns.

You have a nice handle on the Cossacks, Dots, but Mironichenko is not in the same league as Michkov or Demidov. Many who matter thought Michkov was the best Russian prospect in 10 yrs and he lasted until 7. That supports your assertion Demidov falls out of the top 10 as Michkov was considered a better prospect but they're in the same ballpark......... Goes to show the real fear of drafting Russians right now.

But, last yrs draft was head and shoulders better than this yrs so passing on Mickov at 4-5-6 is softened by the strength of the top of the draft. This yr the lack of high end forwards (sucks for the Hawks) makes passing on him at 4-5-6 much harder than passing on Michkov was.

I'll take your bet and wager 10 virtual bucks Demidov goes top 10 and my 100 bucks to your 1 buck he doesn't last until 15.

Looking at those drafted last yr I see Will Smith, drafted 4th, has put up an incredible 57 pts in in 34 games as a true freshman at Boston College. ..... That has to be in the photo for best true freshman season ever. https://www.eliteprospect.../player/615470/will-smith

And Bedard, Karlsson and Fantilli, all in the Bigs as 18 yr olds, deserved to go ahead of Smith. 1 yr out it speaks to the crazy strength of last yrs draft.

Idk…I don’t mind. If it’s a big goal I get it. You’re down by 4 or five goals not so much. Have some fist bumps and line up for the FO.

The one you reference is pretty funny and yeah that just looks stupid. I’m not really a fan of the whole defense running down to the opposing end zone after a turnover to celebrate.

The one that I still think was pretty clever though and an absolute burn was when TO caught a TD pass and while in the end zone, he pulls a sharpie out of his sock, signs the ball and hands it to the d-back.

Personally I like the over the top celebration when a player score the 8th goal in an 8-1 blowout in a meaningless game in the middle of February.

Let's say that player was Dylan Sikura getting his first career goal in his 111th NHL game or whenever it was. Still over the top?

Only if he did the Artem Anisimov "Archer" celebration where he aims at the goalie. Easily my favorite celebration of all time. So inappropriate and he didn't even know what he did wrong. Poor guy.

Sosa with a solo homer in the bottom of the 8th, to make it 8-2!

Alright everyone, we now get to start seeing the slow matriculation of forwards onto this roster. Slaggert (ideally sometime this weekend), possibly Nazar this year. We'll see about the first rounder this year. Next season the possibility of guys like Ludwinski, Dach, Reichel, maybe Hayes/Savoie, etc.

Let's try and give them some leeway to make mistakes and eventually improve to be functional parts of the team. I know we all are clairvoyant (except Darth, that guy's always wrong), but fingers crossed we see some improvement year to year and get excited about the direction.

It was an unwritten rule that you can’t do that. Anisimov should have known.

Maybe it's not the "archer", but still hilarious to me. Responding to paul, maybe he should have known, but look at his reaction to the opponents. He's got no clue what is going on.

JFC Chunk! I said it was an unwritten rule therefore he should have known about the rule. How can a guy who uses the word matriculation not understand what irony is?
