More proof that D Strome type players who will never be really fast but know how to score, here comes Brett Leason:

This third year eligible player has made himself relevant as a possible first round choice by adding at least 50 more points than he produced the season before. Point totals don't dictate draft hierarchy, but his World Junior Under-20 performance cannot be ignored. Sure, he needs to get faster and add a quicker burst in the first step. This will help him to loose pucks, but he has super-soft hands, really excellent vision and a big strong shot. He is a big physical specimen that plays with physicality down low. Has the agility to shake loose, pivot and get shots off with defenders cemented to him. He has East-West elusiveness, and when he gets moving, he is difficult to derail. Display excellent vision and a hard heavy shot that he delivers in stride. Has gone from a long shot to a name that will be called in June.

Both of Leason's goals were nice, but do you see guys like him or Strome being contributors on a team challenging for anything? Just curious.

I really wanted Strome to pan out but after his first Hawk season he had some injuries and didn't do much. Idk...I was fine that they moved on from him.

There’s a reason that both Strome brothers are on completely irrelevant teams. Neither have ‘it’. The edge, the compete, the hustle, tenacity, whatever you want to call it. Both guys who coasted on having good hands all through juniors, while never really improving the bad skating, backcheck, and little things that coaches love.

No coincidence that they can’t score without stars on their line, and the Rangers let Ryan Strome walk without a second thought.

I am just saying there is still a place for them, even though we are ready see what high speed causes the opposition issues.

Agree. Dylan wasn't driving a line in Chicago and was a passenger on a lot of nights. He was also the polar opposite of a player you'd describe as "tough to play against".

Fatty mentioned earlier about a player like Brayden Point. He may be 5'10" but who cares cause he doesn't play like it. To his point, I know he wasn't saying that's what Nazar becomes but dare to dream. One of his biggest attributes by all accounts is his willingness to attack the middle of the ice.

No prob Wiz. I think there is a place for some of those guys. Just not sure about a guy like D Strome. He does some things well but in the playoffs I see him being mostly a non-factor. JMHO.

Dare to dream is right. I think he's a guy that punches a little higher than his weight class. Like Wiz talks about with Eiserman. Those guys that have the determination of a Colin Blackwell and high end skill I think are usually good bets vs the Stromes or Dachs that aren't 'bad' but aren't going to blow any skirts up.

Pun intended? Another issue with guys like Strome, who has good hands but is a minus skater, is that he doesn’t help much defensively. Some of that is due to his skating, and some like you mentioned, due to lack of willingness, so there’s really no place for them on a good team.

I get his numbers are a big reflection of paying with 98 but the guy has some skill.

Byram may show what all the pre draft hype was about in Buffalo. He was the same type of defender in Colorado and wasn’t about to unseat Makar.

Still can’t believe that trade. Don’t care if you want to make a run not a guy I trade. If I’m trading him it’s in the off-season for a stud forward. Mittlestadt is a really good forward but Byram is 22 and prob becomes a top pairing offensive minded D.

Maybe, but Bedard didn’t seem to have much chemistry with Hall. Perhaps it would have developed if they played more together. But the chemistry between Bedard, Foligno and Kurashev has been fantastic.

With 40 points #23 has already smashed his previous season-high of 25 points. There’s no need to move him away from #98.

Sh it its actually easier on KD because with Bedard he has one top 6 line.

No matter where analysts ranked our farm system, I'm very excited about it. The thing is they ranked our system 7ish. If those kids don't play for the Blackhawks next season and we add more talent, most likely the already good prospects will be ranked higher, and since we have 3 picks in the top 50 and another 4 in the top 100 this summer, it'll be even deeper.

I believe help is on the way, can't wait to see Slaggert suit up.
