How many of McGroarty's goals in the world jrs were set up by Nazar?

- vabeachbear

Didn't realize McGroarty was wrecking the NCAA with 50 in 31. Nazar has 37 in 36 on that same U of MI squad. I do know that coach juggles but Nazar skates with McGroarty a good bit of the time.

As I posted before I'm not concerned with pts concerning Nazar in college as IMO they will come, it's the eye test I'm going by. And that's showing me he goes long stretches where he's not making any impact which tells me another yr in school would be helpful.

McGroarty? The power player looks ready for prime time now. ...... But, it's not how good a player is at 18-19-20 it's how good he is at 25. As always, time will tell.

Wouldn't you rather trade that top 5 pick with Jones's contract to obtain more glorious cap space to weaponize at next year's trade deadline when the Hawks are making a run?

Was nice to bump into this piece over at Dobber as they look at Reichel and Holtz as they approach 100 NHL games. Some good context and fancies in the piece...... It is 10 days old. https://dobberprospects.c...-holtz-and-lukas-reichel/

"Lukas Reichel spent his D0 year playing against men much bigger and older than him, playing for Eisnbaren Berlin in the German Pro DEL league. He finished as a top-ten scorer for his team, and followed that up with a fifth-place showing the following year. These are always things a shrewd prospector should look for, when a teenager is able to join a professional men’s league, playing with and against players who are potentially decades older, more physically mature and experienced. Of course, the particular league itself needs to be taken into account when judging the quality of competition, and that Reichel’s performance maintained when coming to the AHL is a good sign".

And Wiz, have you noticed the MI State coach flip flopping right shot Levshunov and his left shot D partner for faceoffs in the Ozone? ...... Lev is a RS and his partner is a LS yet coach flips both of them to their weak sides on Ozone draws.

Never saw this done before but it does speak to the confidence coach has in both those kids to play their weak sides.

Actually , that "Euro Set" up has been used a lot when thevfaceoff man in the dot or the wings are good at getting it back to the point.
You have to feel you have two big guns back there.

@penguins
The Penguins announced today that the shipment carrying the Jagr bobbleheads for tonight’s game has been stolen en route to Pittsburgh.

As a result, the bobbleheads will not be distributed at tonight’s game, but will be distributed at a later date.

It's not unusual in Europe to flip flop Dmen to their weakside for Ozone faceoffs?

Since Reese Johnson had the least TOI on Tuesday, I’m going to guess that he sits tomorrow for Slaggert.

6. Zayne Parekh, RD — Saginaw Spirit (OHL)

Hadi Kalakeche – "As far as offensive defensemen go, Zayne Parekh is as good as it gets. With his mind-blowing 26 goals and 76 points in 50 OHL games so far, even a quick glance at the scoresheet gives you a pretty good idea of the impact Parekh can have on a game — but the points are just a symptom of what makes Parekh so beloved by our entire scouting team.

The combination of fluid skating, high-end puck skills, and supreme hockey sense make Parekh the defenseman with the highest offensive ceiling in our eyes. His level of poise is absurdly high, to a fault — it often prevents him from identifying moments in which the best play is to get rid of the puck. Parekh’s ability to delay or accelerate passes into lanes depending on the circumstances and his booming shot are already at a level that rivals the NHL’s best, and although the defending isn’t polished, there are individual tools there that could be turned into an effective, cohesive package. Some outlets are calling his defensive game abysmal — we wouldn’t go that far. With some work on his positioning and in-zone habits along with physical development, Parekh could become a true number 1 NHL defenseman and one of the best power-play quarterbacks in the league".

You know out of curiosity was Vlasic ever rated a top 50 prospect in the league? I think he was never rated that high in our own system maybe 7th?

He's arguably the best damn defenseman on this team, so rankings are nice things to debate but Vlasic looks like he's going to be a better offensive version of Nik Hjalmarsson. So many didn't see that coming including me.

- BetweenTheDots

Your eyes are drawn away from Vlasic on the star studded USA teams he was on.
His role om a strong USA-NDT 2019 was a defensive one, and the team was loaded with 1st Hughes, Alex Turcotte, Trevor Zebras, Boldy, Caufield, Spencer Knight, Johnny Beecher, defenders Cam York, Henry Thurn, with the 2020 class there with them of Jake Sanderson, Brock Faber, Tyler Kelvin and the 2018 class before had K'Andre Miller , Mattias Samuelsson.

Lol Sharp, Hossa, Bolland, Stahlberg (he’d be top line on current hawks he potted 22 that year), young Shaw, Bickell, Frolik. Not a stacked forward group but all of those are playing top 9 on this current team.

Toews played 59 games. Ya Kane played center but he struggled doing it. 66pts in 82 games. Way better talent around him.

- bhawks2241

Kane also had wrist surgery the summer before which certainly caused some problems production wise as well but he definitely dragged that team into the playoffs or was at least driving the bus that backed in.

I not so sure that he qualifies as a true number one...in my verbiage, the true #1 eats big minutes and plays against the top line of the other team like Dunc & Seabs did. (A great fallback for Keith to have Brent on his right.)

I am not so sure, at this juncture, if Zayne Parekh even paired with whomever develops as the Blackhawk's top LD defender he handles NHL attackers.
So he becomes a PP starter and you have two with KK in the future and just how many teams sue two? (Colorado)

I am not trying to denegrade Zayne Parekh, as much as read the Blackhawks scouting room.
Lots of big bodied offensive defenseman and one RD with a gun in Carter Yakemchuk...
And I am sure that the hawks feel that there are parts of Korchinski’s game offensively that will begin to flourish. Recently he seems more comfortable in the new attack set-ups and isn’t cautiously sitting back. There may be a lot more we haven’t seen in him offensively, but as of right now we see a super clean skater with get up and displays excellent passing skill:
https://www.lines.com/nhl...er/kevin-korchinski-38872

and lately this regime seems to live them those big defenders...

Maybe, maybe not, i do think the hockey analysts do not appreciate good defensive defenseman with soft hands. It also shows how hard it is for these analysts to see true NHL talent.

That's why I'm excited to see Ethan Allen call ups to the bigs. I believe many here were saying in the under 20 tournament these 2 were on the ice a lot in tight/ leading the contests games.

Who are theses "analysts" you talk about? Scouts? Those that write about prospects? TV and Radio Analysts?

Why? He's played his whole life in a full cage or fishbowl. The adjustment to the visor was the change.

I know this is about the tallest little guy, but I’ll take Entwistle, the other guy does not belong in the NHL and should not be in the NHL, same goes for Tinordi.
Edit - R Johnson in concussion protocol, so that answers that.

As Wiz says Johnson and Tinordi are in for one reason, in case someone takes liberties with Bedard.

I would too, but I don't know if it would make any difference toward the outcome of the game.

I expect turnover this off-season, but may not as much as people think. I like that KD didn't trade away the like of T Johnson for a 5th round pick. The team needs some consistency and continuity this season. I'd love to see the Hawks go on a heater to end the season, even of they improved to 3rd or 4th worst and decreasing their odds at the #1 pick. I think winning has more value at this point, especially to the likes of Bedard, Kurashev, Korchinski and Vlasic. Plus, Slaggert will get some games (as we know) and possible Nazar.

Of the pending RFAs and UFAs:

Likely Gone
- T Johnson (although I wouldn't mind seeing him return on a 1 year deal)
- Entwistle
- R Johnson
- Sanford
- Tinordi
- Zaitsev (although I wouldn't mind seeing him return on a 1 year deal)
- Megna
- Roos (Rockford)

Might be Back - but not certain
- Blackwell
- Raddysh (I personally doubt he returns, but its possible)
- Anderson
- Guttman (Rockford)
- Phillips
- Crevier
- Stauber

Back for sure
- Vlasic
- Reichel

Although he's not an RFA until the summer of 2025 I don't expect Soderblom back next season. If he plays lights-out for the remainder of the season he might earn a shot at the back-up position next year, but there will be competition (not Commesso, he'll stay in Rockford).
