Bill do the flyers have any known interest? any college free gents that you know of they are interested in? - hello it's me 2050
Believe there is interest in one/both of the Quinnipiac players. There's competition, however. |

The listed 4th line is a travesty. Why put Cates at center when he has played well on the wing for a long stretch? Why play ND or Atkinson at all at this point? |

of course....not sure where the flyers are on players pecking order. Money is the same, so we shall see. if your a center flyers look attractive. though having torts as a coach maybe not so much.
Speaking of Quinnipiac , Flyer should have drafted sam lipkin over owen. |

Couturier, Gurianov and Atkinson also took extra skating at the end of the morning skate, which is another strong indicator that all three will be scratched in the game.
Let the healthy scratching of the captain with 6 years remaining on his contract begin ..
I agree with previous posters that Torts ran him into the ground in the first half of the season. |

I guess it’s not really odd that the Flyers are making their captain a healthy scratch tonight.
The Oilers and Avalanche are doing the same thing. |

Any word on getting injured players back on D? |

If someone said before the season that the following would happen this year would anyone sign on for it?
Collapse and miss the playoffs
Have a mid-first round pick
Couturier & Atkinson both look shot
Trade Gauthier for a marshmallow soft dman
Hart face a sexual assault trial

So tiny Torts can feel like a big man by scratching the guy he just made captain last month. |

Torts is a festering turd. Can’t wait til he’s gone though my fear is that President Doofus will get rid of Briere before the guy who is really running the organization.
Couts had missed nearly 2 full seasons and was coming off 2 serious back surgeries. So what does our brilliant HC do? He runs him out there for 20+ minutes per night right from the get go. No wonder he’s now out of gas, probably dinged up, and struggling. But here’s the thing, if you look at advanced stats, he is ALWAYS among the top 7-8 forwards each and every damn game! So scratching him is just Torts being a bunghole.
A smart coach, one with enough sense to know that on a rebuilding team, you play the long game, would have started the season with Couts playing a middle 6 role with his minutes carefully monitored. Furthermore, a smart coach would give him ample time off and would probably sit him occasionally in b2b situations.
Torts is self obsessed blowhard who loves playing mind games with his players. He is out of date and out of touch with today’s game. Does he get a lot out of his teams? Yeah, to some degree. But ask yourself this, what would better benefit the team in the long run:
Barely limping into the final playoff spot and getting bounced in round one, or just missing and either way drafting in the 13-17 spot
Or
Playing the long game, not just with Couts, but overall, and finishing with 70-75 points and picking in the 5-8 range with at least some chance of moving up to 1 or 2?

Jones and Briere probably over-ruled him and Torts is being petty.

said this the other day. then if your in the playoff picture maybe you increase his workload down the stretch.
this organization deserves pure failure. What will it take to sink in? nothing and until an ownership change (99% unlikley in the near future) very little will change. |

With the 15th overtime pick, the flyers select….more middling talent. Let the road to the Cup continue 😂 |

Kinda wish they started out the year getting boatraced like this rather than crumble in the end. Maybe they would have approached things differently. MAYBE. |

It was always smoke and mirrors. Anyone who couldn't see that what they were doing was unsustainable was fooling themselves.
Running Coots into the ground was part of the reason for the hot start and the current collapse.

It was a joke. Torts didn't want there to be a captain and Briere and Jonesy said we need to have a captain.

The metro is freaking horrible this year. It feels like half the teams are trying to get a better draft pick. The Flyers may have a hard time playing themselves out of a playoff position.
