Getting shutout 3x in 8 games when your season is on the line. Wow - keaner17
The funniest part of this for me is that, given that statistic, they also managed to light up a guy who's a lock to win the Vezina |

Roy should call Lane and ask him how he got this group into the playoffs last season
I'm kidding...I really don't have any strong opinions about Lane or Roy one way or the other. I didn't think replacing Lane would be the answer, then I thought I was wrong about that when the team seemed to come to life a bit under Roy, but now seeing Roy face many of the same issues (team is mentally fragile, doesn't seem prepared for games, inconsistent efforts) I'm back to wondering how much, if at all, coaching has to do with it.
One thing I'll say is it's crazy to see how many problems all of the other middling teams must have as well when a team like Washington, which was dead in the water not long ago and sold at the deadline if I remember right, can come out of nowhere and be sitting in a playoff spot now. |

Sorokin had a Vezina-caliber season, that's how. He was mortal this year and it exposed this team for what it really is....average. |

Coaching does not seem to be the big issue. This is a team that is slow, fragile, and lazy. They have long term contracts and some have NTC. They know management can do little to change things. Not that management has shown they want to change the roster. Lou’s first thought in the offseason is locking up his own players. Lou is the biggest issue with this team. |

Lou thinks you just need a goalie to carry the entire team to the Cup. |

I've been aboard, just voicing my hope for a swift end to this season
On the bright side, once Lee is probably suspended today maybe we'll get a call-up of Iskhakov and see how he looks. - eichiefs9
Yeah any kids they may call up would be the only reason I have left to watch another game this season. I wish there were a way to blow this team up. With each game I dislike this “group” more. Problem is Lou has made this team blow up proof for the most part. |

The culmination to the season occurred when three islanders converged on the puck at the same time just inside their blue line, taking each other out - leading to a 4 on 1 the other way, where Hughes casually sniped a wrister past Sorokin. That was fuking brilliant 😂😂 |

I guess it's hard to argue that. Especially when you see what a difference just three or four...or even two points can make. |

At least you would hope the Bridge players would be hungry. It’s like Lou forgot everything since those Devils Cup teams. you need good young players with some key vets. |

Yeah, I mean with 15 OT losses...if they just won 5 of them they'd be sitting in a playoff spot this morning. If they won about half they'd be in 3rd place in the Metro with a game in hand on the Flyers |

The lack of speed and skill really shows during OT and the SO. |

Blown leads were also a problem which had been rectified under Trotz. |

Along with getting up ready to play for the second half of back to backs. Unfortunately trotz has another job now and we’re two coaches in so time to start jettisoning the guys we need too whenever possible. |

I wonder what happens to Wahlstrom. Doesn’t look like he’s got a spot on this roster |

He’s done. I’m sure he’ll be a throw in when Lou trades our first at the draft. |

I think Lou uses this years pick, but I do think he dumps some salary and signs some UFAs. That’s what I’m hoping for.
Even if the isles squeak in this year, they’re not on the level. They need to address some holes. |

Hopefully not Leo type UFA’s. If Lou stays, he needs to do things very differently and he really needs to rely on Patrick and the players Patrick wants. |

They aren’t squeaking in this year and they haven’t been on a competitive level for going on three years now with three different coaches. Them making the playoffs last season was a stars in line moment with Pittsburgh choking like they did. If you are depending on other teams to suck down the stretch you weren’t any good to begin with…
This team needs big changes it’s about time our GM realizes this and starts doing what is necessary to truly improve the team for the future. |

Yeah I’m kinda hoping Roy has some say. I feel like his style requires a little more grit, and not perimeter players. Something tells me Engvall isn’t a Roy guy |

Something tells me Engvall isn't an NHL guy. He might be better suited for the SEL or wherever the game is less physical. I don't think I've ever seen a 6'5" guy who was less intimidating. I'm sure Lou was trying to improve team speed, but at what cost? |

I think Engvall not being a Roy player is a good bet. This team is not willing to go to the dirty areas to score on a consistent basis. Other teams have their dmen being active and getting shots on net and the forwards crashing the net for deflections and rebounds. |
