Rockford vs. Chicago on NHL Network

Seney with PPG to put the Hogs up 3-2 still in the 1st

With all the supposed defensive studs the Hawks are supposed to have on defense, the defense being played in this game is terrible.

I finally get a Hogs stream and of course, no Commesso!! ..... Thought Allen looked a lot different. Some poise with the puck and he wasn't afraid to skate and be a bit creative with the thing.. Del Mastro seemed to have added a step to his skating.. Guess I'll always like Phillips. ...... How's this for a rivalry. CHI and RKF each have 92 wins vs each other.

Only watched a period of this one.

Rockford came back from a one goal deficit in period three to tie on a buzzer beater then won in shootout.

Expound a bit, LA. Any thoughts on Del Mastro, Phillips, Allen, Crevier, Roos? .... One thought I had was there are simply no forwards, Dach didn't dress, that can be reasonably expected to make the big club. ... And if so does that mean there is no question they go with a forward with their first pick in the draft?

Today is the 39th birthday for Dustin Byfuglien, best net front presence we've had in recent years.
- breadbag

I think at 39 if you lut him in the Hyman role on the Oilers he'd score 40.
If he was in his 20's probably somewhere between 80-90
Hats off to Q and the coaches for coming up with the idea of parking him in front of the net.

Ya differing people have differing opinions, and whether people like it or not, its still for now, ok to have differing opinions in America.

Its just that this hockey place, seems to divert quickly into politics if allowed to, and then I have to leave for a couple weeks, as this is an escape from it.

Don't refrain from what you want to type, it is America, and not for me to say you cant, I would never do that. Just my opinion that politics is better left out of it and talk more about why would the Hawks pass on goal scorer like Eiserman at this point of their rebuild.

And don't worry, I always vote

Didn’t watch it, but Dach was listed on the game report as having a shot on goal. Maybe he just wasn’t noticeable?

It was more a team thing than any one player, but the Wolves scored on a 2 on 1, del Mastro got beat on a very ill advised pinch, the Wilves 4 th goal the 2 defensemsn just stood around as the player with the puck behind the goal line had all day to find the player in front for a easy goal.

Phillips by far looked like the best player on defense last night. Del Mastro, Crevier, Allen, Roos did nothing for me to say I can’t wait to see him in training camp next year.

Stauber in net is technically better than Soderblom, none of the goals were on him at all. Interesting to see if they bring him back next year.

Wiz - I told this to a family member who is a sports writer - Keep your opinions to sports only!

Lest you forget, the country was fooled by a half black man who had more 'white privilege' than most of us on this board. The human race is very flawed. Nothing should shock you!

Back to hockey ladies and gentlemen. With the Hawks being 6-6 in March, and games against the Sens and Flyers, do they finish .500 for the month? I vote yes. Also, only 5 points behind the Ducks, it is possible that they catch them as well.

Tough one to call tonight. Sens handily beat Buffalo yesterday, so they are playing a back-to-back tonight. But, this is an away game for the Hawks and we all know how they play on the road.

Assuming they don't get the 1st pick and Celebrini (though it would be nice) anyone in the 2-5 range would be a useful piece. Aside from the Russkis, one of Lindstrom, Eiserman, Levshunov, D!ckinson, Parekh will be available.

Wiz' latest mock has the Hawks picking Lindstrom at #2 after he was flirtng with Levshunov for a while.

The Hawks obviously hit on their first pick last year, and it’s imperative for the rebuild that they get a top player this year. Hopefully their scouts feed KD all the right information.

Good on you for the money stuff. My first time in the Stadium was 1959. Between the Stadium and United Center I've been to slightly over 2,000 hockey games and a few concerts. And I'd still go IF I enjoyed the atmosphere. I don't. Sure things change, but cups or no playoffs at all I'm there for the game. Wasn't trying to break bad on you, but all the other stuff is nonsense to me. So to each their own, good luck to you.

Too much coffee yesterday 66. Didn't want to be believed to be one of those who didn't care about the game or one of the privileged crowd. Only reason I go to so many games by myself. Thanks. The PA dude is definitely irritating, reminds me of one of those Rascal Flatts guys but not likeable. I do like Genna Rose though. Yeah, it is a bunch of loud noise I have to admit. Trying to recall what it was like before... the shoot the puck always had the same formula, dude everybody booed, kid and some miniskirt where everyone went crazy. Organ music for most of the commercial breaks and some of the inter-period action?

I'm feeling the Hawks catch the Ducks. However, given the uncertainty from 2 to maybe even 8, it doesn't bother me too much. For the Celebrini sweeps, there's only a 2 percent difference and we all know how the 3rd spot fared last year.

I think the chances of the Hawks catching the Ducks are slim, but not impossible. They're 5 points behind with 10 games to go. It all depends which Blackhawks team shows up to play.

If the Ducks win 3 games (or get 6 OT losses) then the Hawks need to win 6 of their last 10 to pass them. I'm all for it. I don't expect the Hawks to win the draft lottery, so they might as well finish as high as they can. As I've said before, there isn't much (if any) gap in the quality of prospects between 2-5.

I am really starting to come around on Levshunov, I think that pick makes sense for the Hawks. Then select a forward with Tampa's pick, but I'd be ok taking another RHD for the pipeline.

Agree with you on Leyshunov, Darth. Might be the best player at 2 even if there is uncertainty. I'm sure around May and June, some players will become more prominent. You can never have enough good D and if you have a surplus you can move one for help upfront, hopefully they won't make the mistake Ottawa did with Chara (although that was more cap related).

That’s why they are in Rockford. To get better. With Vlasic doing Great, Kaiser showing some potential and Korchinski being so young they could be down there another year.
Speaking of Rockford…. I think Sorensen and the coaching staff are doing a nice job. It used to be where if you were assigned to Rockford you were never going be a decent NHL’er. Or the player would come up and look exactly the same as when they were sent there.
I wonder if he will have NHL teams after him as head coach or asst coach.

Saw that bad pinch. Was really impressed with Del Mastro's recovery as he showed fine footwork/balance to turn, excellent speed catching up to the opponent, nicely tying him up but was called for a hook that even the CHI color guy, Billy Gardner, said was a bad call. ..... A play that you have to remind yourself this guy is 6ft 4in.

You think Phillips will play NHL even if it's with another organIzation?

The difference between talent level of our current defensemen (including in the pipeline) and what's available in the draft is is lot less than the the difference in forward talent available in the draft and what we currently have. I lean toward picking a forward with our first pick to improve our scoring. Lindstrom, devidov, catton, eiserman would be acceptable to me.

Then there was another pinch then that ended up in the back of the net.

I do think Phillips will be with another organization next year.

I’m sure if KD and the scouting staff feel Phillips is able to get it figured out they won’t move him, unless they feel the return is greater than they feel where Phillips can get.

So far Davidson hasn’t made any big mistakes, I think he’s been very calculating in every move or decision he’s made. That obviously will change but at the moment he’s done a good job of dismantling the team and beginning to restock the prospect pool. That said the biggest, toughest part of his job ahead of him. Until his forward progression is stopped or he starts making bad trades, bad contracts, or panic moves I’ll support him.

Same goes for Richardson, so far he’s done a great job with the team he’s been given. He has, for the most part, got the team playing hard. He’s done a great job developing the rookies, showing both patience and a tough hand. We won’t know how good a coach he is until he has a decent team and can show he’s strategic and tactical while ensuring the players buy into them.
