Bill, how much of this performance do you blame on the bad calls the Flyers got in the game?
Oh wait April fools was a few days ago! Never mind! |

Did Torts lose the room when he scratched his captain, or were things already starting to slide and the scratch was just a desperate attempt to get everyone's attention? |

The country club morons that have infested this team for years need to be purged. The hiring of former Flyers or those with connections to these disgusting people… It’s the same old bullpoop, same old half ass retools, and obsessions with intangibles.
Loser (frank)ing franchise obsessed with its past, and outdated philosophies.
Looking forward to a good laugh how it was a successful season. The Flyers propagandists will be out in force soon enough.
Would love to know what they said to the boys after the game. The moment that the FO takes a lick of accountability, instead of blaming the players will be the day hell freezes over. |

Just posted this on previous blog, same point...
In the OT loss to the Isles, our guys threw everything they had at the other team to equaluze. The Isles repeatedly had to ice the puck just to get a respite. This went on for a good 3-4 mins. Unrelenting pressure.
Then the mistake by Frost, just the freakish thing that happens sometimes....
But in the presser, Torts threw the entire team under the bus. He did not say anything about the fighting spirit in clawing and scratching out a point. He focused on period 2 and called the team soft.
This, along with the absolutely disgraceful handling of the Couturier situation, could have been the 'tipping point'.
Usually fatigued teams wear out as the game goes along. But in the first few mins itself, there was an overabundance of lapses. Not the effort kind. Just the basic kind of letting passes go across the crease, leaving guys open, 2 guys going to same man etc. The kind that Torts teams specialize in avoiding.
This coupled with post game body language makes me think the team has quit. |

This is what a team with zero left in the tank looks like.
Not even any fumes to ride on. Nothing left at all.

If the team has quit Torts would say so. He wouldn't be able to help himself.
But he's still insisting that lack of effort/care are not the problem, even after tonight... |

I think it is both. Torts is out of bullets and the team is gassed. Odd yet exciting season.
Anyways, looking ahead because the season is now a dumpster fire, I think ending in an epic collapse might actually be good in one sense (obviously not good for moral moving forward). Hopefully it leads to the understanding of how far this team is away (4years?) to competing to trigger a TK trade and a needed coaching change. |

The NHL season and playoffs is a marathon not a sprint. The playoffs are a war of attrition and a physical and mental exercise in survival.Torts tried to execute an 82 game sprint with a not yet ready team to contend but his experiment petered out at 70 games.
Torts shortened his shelf life in the process. He burned bridges and alienated players. Maybe even one blue chipper who opted out. No way of knowing for sure but it crosses one’s mind. All he has left is his ‘play the right way’ mantra. He probably realizes he did damage to his reputation and delayed the rebuild. He’s near his expiration date.

This.
Also, for the rest of the season, they need to play the kids. Give Andrea, Ginning, Z, and Attard some more games. Play Fedotov to see if he is worth resigning (and what that contract should look like). I was 💯 excited to see him but I have to admit, he has looked slow and uninspired (other than his first game during the second period in relief of Errson). |

Torts said they are still building on the post hab presser. 👷♂️ Well he had to say that because currently it looks ugly. We may see the end product after his next extension if he has gas left and still have emotional capital and buy in with the group. 🥸 |

Welp. No thanks to the crappy Sabres and devils who couldn’t hold their leads last night. It’s quite a long shot to hope they pass us in the standings. Seattle is the only real hope left. That would leave us with #11. |

In a game the Flyers absolutely had to win in order to end a seven-game slide and potentially stay alive in the Eastern Conference playoff chase, they instead had another debacle.
The Flyers playoff odds increased, somehow, to 10.9%. The Flyers are like the bad guys in horror movies. Every time you think they are dead, they somehow stay barely alive. |

Yea, it's going to be a whole lot of "get back to playing the right way", "the standard", "rebuilding". Vague, positive sounding terms are going to be all you hear going forward. The last thing you are going to hear is that any of this is anyone's fault or that they were focused on making the playoffs instead of rebuilding now that it's collapsed.
All is according to plan, nothing to see here and the prices are going up again next year.

Torts a few days ago :
" It comes down to, Oh, they're going to quit on him. It follows me around, and so be it," he said. "If a player is going to quit on me, or players are going to quit on me because I'm trying to make them better people or better athletes, you've got the wrong damn coach here, and you've got the wrong damn people here."

Amen. Poetically spoken. I just don't have faith that this organization is smart enough to realize it. That is exactly what has happened here.

I do not understand "quitting" on a coach.
To me, quitting on a coach shows that you are not committed to the team. If you have a problem with the coach you go to management during and after the season.
Quitting to me means you are not a player that I want on my team.
If the vets quit because they are unhappy, it sends the wrong message to to the young kids on the team.
If enough players went to DB and said they want Torts gone, Torts would be gone. DB is not the little female dog people make him out to be.
This is my opinion and I know I am gonna get skewered for it. |

The post game body language from the player sis not of one that has quit. It's one of players who are embarrassed by their performance and aren't sure of what to do about it.

I agree with most of this. Unfortunately I see the Flyers front office content in keeping Tortorella for the time being. |

Hiring a former broadcaster who is basically a glorified cheerleader to be team President tells me all I need to know about this organization.
The Flyers are a never ending train wreck. |
