Well that, and this is precisely why he should hire a president. If he doesnt have enough time or energy, that's perfectly reasonable and understandable but you can't use that as an excuse on one hand and still want the title. - Hank Balling

Does hiring Quenneville incentivize Kane to sign in Buffalo next season?
Or is Kane, who would've been 4th on the Sabres in points this season after only playing half a season still considered broken and useless? - washedup20

Adams needs to go and Do it know, It can't be just words. He can't come back and say we tried and had Conversations with some very experienced Coaches, but we just couldn't make it Work. Well Adams do your job and MAKE it work, he can't step back to the Podium and announce Appert as the next HC. - Buff36
Get ready for it. Nobody wanted that job when they gave it to Granato. Nothing changed in the Org structure to change the league wide perspective that the Org is a joke.
I will say that the roster overall is one I would think a good coach good have a very positive impact with vs starting from scratch ... But does that override the reality of Adams and Pegula controlling things? Nope. |

we got scotty bowman from the habs so I find it hard to believe that this ownership with only 32 jobs in the nhl for gms and coaches, can't do better than adams, krueger, donnie meathead, ron rolston, ted nolan, etc
I mean we h ad matt ellis run our pp
but money is no issue with the sabres |

Two things that bothered me from yesterday.
The Terry Pegula has a lot going on thing is (frank)ing bullpoop. Yes, I know your wife is long term recovering. I get that. But it's a (frank)ing farce that your owner can't speak to the fanbase in 4 entire years. (frank) off, Kev.
Second thing is, "The standard wasn't good enough since Day 1 of training camp". That tells me you knew it was garbage all year and did nothing about it before it was too late. There's no excuse for that. - TheSabresTaco
I noticed both of those as well. Terry avoids the media, can't handle on the spot questions. He only reads prepared statements.

2 years and fired - homiedclown
He seems like a good coach but a bit of a poop show.
Tbh though, if he's here for 2 years and makes the playoffs 1 time before getting fired, that's fine by me |

I think it's nice to not only hope for a long term coach, but for that to also become a reality. I think for well established teams, like the Rangers, Lightning, Hurricanes, Stars, Panthers... it's more of a reality to find that guy for the life cycle of your team. These teams and more has the same standard year in and year out.
Teams like the Sabres.. Sens.. Sharks Hawks or even old teams like the Pens... their needs are probably going to be evolving because they're in, or going to be in flux. Ted Nolan and Don Granato were the right coaches for the stages this team was in. But now it's time to hopefully find that final coach that elevates us into the Hurricanes category. With the talent and age that exists on this roster, there isn't a reason they shouldn't be there. - TheSabresTaco
They are out there IMO.
This issue that has existed for several years now has yet to be resolved (to 19's point yesterday, but known to all of us) is Terence Pegula and Kevyn Adams. I think qualified Coaches will look at it and say.. nothing has changed since the had to default to a Snake Oil Salesman and Mr Goody Twoshoes.
The only saving grace is that the roster is far better now that at anytime over the past 5 years. |

He won't do that. Adams is typically quite honest.
I'll eat my shoe if he hires a guy like Appert, Peca et al - TheSabresTaco

I've said this quite a few times. I always think it's a bad idea for Terry to speak. He simply can't do it without looking like a total buffoon. However, it's your duty as the owner to offer your thoughts.

I can't imagine any of the retreads we've discussed saying no. They have limited options and if they declined a job now, there's a chance they never get another. Brind'Amour is the only one who can afford to be choosy (if he even hits the market). All the others take a 3 year deal on the spot imo |

I think Don was the right man for the job after his interim stint. I don't blame the Sabres for not setting up an outside, experienced NHL coach for failure.
Today, you shouldn't be looking for a guy like that anymore. |

Yes I want the playoffs, no I don't want that to be the standard of 'just get in'. I want a real (frank)ing standard from a guy who isn't dog poop to work with.

Get swept in 3 games somehow. Idgaf. Just make the playoffs and hang a banner for the coach who does it |

I think we as fans are, and maybe deservedly so, much more jaded and cynical than a prospective coach.
It's like hiring an employee. For a professional career, you're hiring a guy with little to no experience for an entry level (young/inexperience roster) position. As that employee gains experience, their expectation will be to raise the standard of pay (talented/experienced roster).
Experienced coaches have no reason to not want this job. Supposedly terry provides any funding necessary as requested by the GM. The GM is very easy to work with and staff go out of their way to say as much. Everyone values everyone's opinions.

Agree, but why surround him with little to no experience on the bench…. Ellis, Christie and Wilford were AWFUL to partner with a first time coach and 2 of those stiffs are still here, aren’t they?!? |

Granato hired Jason Christie. Adams hired Ellis. Wilford and Bales I don't recall whether that was Ralph or Adams. Wilford's been at least an AHL asst. coach since 2011.
Why more veteran experience wasn't hired? That I don't know. Adams and Ellis are best friends.
